Their Story: Vance's parents were barely out of high-school when he came into their lives. His father was a pathological liar and a drunk, and his mother was an emotionally numb former beauty-queen. Honestly the only times that Vance was allowed peace from either of his parents was his birthday or Christmas. During his Middle and High School years, after the move to Reno, Vance began to run with a gang based near his house. He never did the drugs they dealt, he thought himself above such things, but he did like the excuse to get out of the house when his parents started in again. He dropped out in eleventh grade after a fist-fight with his principle (The principle in question had insulted both of Vance's parents) and decided to start working as a Tattoo Artist. The Tattoo Parlor was owned and operated by a biker and mechanic named Jacob Greyson, head of the Greyson Wolves of Reno. Vance had been kicked out of his home and Jake had offered to let him stay with him, even after only knowing him for two weeks. Over the next year and a half Jake and Vance developed something of a brotherly relationship. When Vance turned nineteen he met a girl named Alice. Like him she had come from a less then perfect background, being raised by her grandparents after her prostitute of a mother had left her alone for a week in her apartment. Despite that, she never looked for attention, she never played the sad girl, and never gave up. The two feel head over heels within a month. After Vance had moved in with her and her Grandparents, the two had been taking a drive around town and chanced upon a small boy under a freeway overpass. He was alone with four other men who were drunken and raving mad, none of which were his father. Taking him in, the two decided to adopt him, naming him Danny when he finally managed to tell them that he had no name. The next two years were the happiest of Vance's life; Steady job, engaged, ready to go back to school to support his new family. It was perfect.
It was too perfect.
When the zombies came, Vance had stayed the night at Jake's after passing out from a night of drinking with Jake and the rest of Jake's gang. Returning home when something seemed off, Vance was greeted with the sight of Alice and Danny being attacked by Alice's grandparents. They had both died the night before, neither carrying the H-Immunity needed to survive the virus's initial strike. Vance killed the two of them, but by the time he had Danny was already gone. When he came back and tried to attack him, he had merely broken his arms and legs, shattering the bone and rendering him immobile. He couldn't bring himself to kill Danny, no matter the reasoning he couldn't. He left the home with Alice, broken and numb. All he wanted was to survive now, as unsightly as it would be he wanted to simply survive now with the only light in his life at his side.
