http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mats_HummelsMats Hummels plays for my fav club Borussia Dortmund since 2008. He comes from the Bayern München Youth, also he's no born Bavarian. His father is youth coach and so he travelled a lot, from Bergisch-Gladbach to Mainz and then to München. Since the colors of the BVB are yellow and black (Schwatzgelb, like the people in Dortmund say) and the mascot of the kids club is a bee named Emma, it's pretty funny, that Mats last name Hummels refers to Hummel - which means Bumblebee in german. XD 2009 he has won the European Championship alongside Neuer, Khedira, Özil, Kroos etc. He's very fannear and collects fanquestions on his homepage, which he then answers in videostatements called "Fanfragen". Last seaon he broke his jaw, when he and his teammember Roman Weidenfeller (goalkeeper) rushed together. Weidenfeller tried to punch the ball away and hit Mats right in the face. This was a very tragic accident, since Mats had to rest for 6 weeks and he is one of our best defenders. More info is following...

I EAT BRAINZ! Vice Captain

I LOVE THIS GUY heart He's so adorable Puttin' his girlfriend's name on his shoes, what a classy guy~~~ Sometimes he's got style, other times he doesn't. More importantly, he has his own action figure. (Shhh, let him dream.) He's been captain of the U-21 team, no big deal He's a kick a** defender and he can score sick goals, what more do you want? Tell me again why Jogi didn't take him to South Africa? Oh, and him and Benni are adorable bffs I'll just leave this here in closing~ So: With the current onslaught of talented German youth, do you think Mats has a chance to play for the Nationalmannschaft? Or have the best been defined during this World Cup, leaving no space for the rest? Is there a retiring player he could replace in the near future?

I EAT BRAINZ! Is there a retiring player he could replace in the near future? ohgod, I AM ASHAMED TO SAY THIS, BUT PERHAPS, ARNE FRIEDRIECH? D: HE IS GETTING NEAR THE AGING-ZONE-THAT-STAMPS-FOOTBALL PLAYERS-AS-BEING-' OLD'. *sobs* Anyways, Mats Hummels looks like an Arne clone if you squint your eyes, so I guess, if Friedriech does decide to retire, there won't be that much change. D: My goodness, what a save that was! *cannot stop staring at gif*

Yeah, it's true. He's had a brilliant World Cup, but who knows if he'll be a starter in two years. Maybe as a sub. But even so, Boateng is a central defender, and probably more likely to fill Arne's spot.
hahahhahaah maybe he and Arne can strike up a deal to pretend to be each other or something. then Arne will never retire and Mats gets to play! razz
I'm hoping that LVG succeeds in excusing the Bayern players from the friendly later this month, then players like Mats will have a chance to show what they got.

Aaaw, I am sad that Arne will be going... emo But that would be cool if they did make a deal like that, lololol. And now that you mentioned it, I hope so, too, because I am curious to see him and Benedikt play. :O these Nutella commercials are distracting

I know, me too. But I'm also excited to see the next generation! I watched the U-21 Euros last year – WHICH WE WON BTW – and there's so much incredible talent, it's amazing. Most of them were at the World Cup: Neuer, Özil, Marin, Boateng, Khedira (he was captain), Aogo. Benni and Mats played as well, as did Beck (remember? the unlucky guy who ended up being the sole cut for the World Cup?).
Nutella commercials are always distracting. (;

I EAT BRAINZ! So: With the current onslaught of talented German youth, do you think Mats has a chance to play for the Nationalmannschaft? Or have the best been defined during this World Cup, leaving no space for the rest? Is there a retiring player he could replace in the near future? Nobody did understand why Jogi didn't take him along. He and Höwedes were the best in Germany's youth, that's what the Kicker also said. Arne climbed up in the rank because of the World Cup, followed by Höwedes and Hummels, so no, I don't understand it. But I guess, that both will have a chance at the European Championship, at least I hope so.

Maybe because he wanted to give the ~veterans~ a last chance (omg that sounds awful D: ) at international football before they retire?... The younger players have a long road and a couple (maybe three) world cups ahead of them. They'll have plenty of time and opportunities. And yeah, we'll probably see him in the 2012 squad. (: Also, brb imploding because of the sexy. My 5 cents: heart heart

Isolar F Maybe because he wanted to give the ~veterans~ a last chance (omg that sounds awful D: ) at international football before they retire?... Yeah, that might have been, but I didn't mean Arne and/or Merte, I was asking myself, why he did choose Aogo and so on (younger players who didn't do that well) and not one of these other two. But like we say in Germany: hätte, wäre, würde, könnte... which means: had, would, should (would), could If I had know that, I would've done, what I should have done, what I could've done. XD Yay, cool Pics. ^^

in English: should've, would've, could've, but didn't. razz
I'm just hoping when Mats makes it to the A-team he plays as a defensive midfielder – Holger and Benni are both central defenders, too. ):
