I tried to get sleeping pills, but my psych wouldn't prescribe those... sweatdrop

When I'm insomniac, I just stay up. I get tired eventually.

You might want to ask your doctor.

I have problems with insomnia too. It doesn't matter how tired I am, I can never get to sleep. Can someone help me too please?

Well, it depends on your religion...but, as a christian, I talk to god. He always helped me when I was younger on those nights that I was afraid to go to sleep because daddy had been screaming earlier and he had a gun. But talking to the lord helped me sleep, made me feel more comfortable about my surroundings. This may help. Or, talk to any god you believe in. Who's to say one religion is the only way?

Also, you can try reading. Eventually your eyes will start to shake and you will have to close them. This comes along with the void, where things from the back of your mind come to the front, and you're forced to pay attention to them. You may be having this kind of sleep, but again, just talk it out. Even if its to yourself, or your spouse. [I share a bed with my mom, so I just ramble to her for hours] however, if you keep your eyes close, eventually you WILL drift off.

Maybe there are dreams you had beforehand that are affecting your sleep? Make a list of any nightmares or happy dreams, and see if they connect with issues your having today. It may just help you sleep better, and force you to confront issues.

If all else fails, grab popcorn and a movie! If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Huh, before I realized I'm lactose intollerant I would get some warm milk or sometimes just whole milk, and put a little nutmeg in it. Close your eyes and drink anything, water even, just the sucking motion, this can sometimes work.

To be completely honest, and I know this sounds bad, but smoke a joint or doa few shots. You'll get relaxed and sleepy.

True. But I'm done with the self-medication thing, so that isn't going to work for me. I need my sleep, but I'm not doing drugs to get it, partly cause I can't get any.

I used to smoke mass amounts (of weed) because I would be up 30+hrs and start to go crazy (literally), but after a few years of that it seriously ******** with your brain

I think reading's the best thing. Educational books are my favourites. I learn lots, get better grades, and my grocery bills are half what they used to be.

Reading and that sort of thing actually works well. It's slow and relaxing and it tires out your brain fairly well.

Yeah, sometimes just getting a little excercise helps too, like doing a few pushups, or situps, or the like.

I gave up on fighting insomnia, so I just go online, until the light from the screen lulls me to sleep... after a cookie of course...
