Bring 10 pots. 10 Mega Pots and 2 Max Potion. Fire resistant armor and a dragon or thunder attribute weapon.

bring a weapon that has a thunder element, because rathalos is weak to thunder, and hit his head, thats where u do the most damage on him, and pitfall traps and bombing him really helps also for breaking the head and wings, or bring bounce bombs to break his wings.

Ah Rathalos, the king of the skies. Although annoying, he's not nearly as bad as some people make him out to be, but that's not to say that he's a pushover.

He'll charge, bite, tackle, and dive-bomb you relentlessly, but all of these attacks are fairly predictable. The problem comes when he gets angry and starts breathing fire.

Unlike the Rathian, Rathalos can only shoot one fireball at a time, but he likes to do this when a player is stunned by a roar. The simplest fix is to get the earplugs skill to avoid the roar and get a few free hits in while you're at it.

Rathalos likes to spend a long time in the air, making capturing it a pain if you don't know how to ground him. Explosive shells, bouncing bombs, and flash bombs bring him down to earth. Flash bombs have the added effect of stunning and disorienting him, causing him to lose his rage temporarily and thrash wildly trying to hit you.

Anytime he decides to fly a little higher than usual, STAND DIRECTLY UNDER HIM! This leads to 1 of 2 attacks: He'll start steadily moving backward while shooting fireballs or attempt to strike you with a poisoned talon. The shock from the talon strike WILL leave you stunned, but if you're under his body or able to roll away at just the right time, the attack will miss you completely.

He charges a whole lot, but unfortunately for him, he doesn't have horns, nor does he have the thick skulls of the brute wyvrens. The head of the Rathalos is exposed and practically displayed anytime he is on the ground, making a hammer a reasonable choice for fighting him. The lance, switch ax, and longsword are also reasonable choices for this hunt simply because their long reach lets you hit him while he's in flight.

I hope this helps.
