I already sorta did this in the other thread, but... ah well. Haha.

Name: Katherine, Katty
Age: 20
Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Tell us about yourself: I'm studying at McGill University in Montreal in civil engineering. I love it. I also work part time at a local video store, and I love that too. I live with my parents, but I'm thinking about moving out soon so I can live closer to school and live more of the "downtown" lifestyle. I love learning. That's why this guild is great.

Name: Erik
Age: 19
Location: Arkansas, United States
Tell us about yourself: I'm currently studying mathematics. Current plan is to pursue a Ph.D. in mathematics and then become a professor so that I can teach and research, two things I love to do. Beyond mathematics I have interests in just about everything. Philosophy, physics, literature, history, martial arts, sociology, religion, etc.
I spend my time reading, doing mathematics, practicing martial arts, playing games and watching TV occasionally. Also a Doctor Who fan, though I've only watch the "revived seasons" so far. Haven't ventured into the older material.
Oh and ninjas are awesome.

Tell us about yourself: Well first and foremost I am not as impressive as the other members in this guild. Indeed it will be interesting to see if I am able to keep up at all. Haha so sad, but I managed to get kicked out of my university last year due to excessive academic failure. ^-^ That aside, I am still quite interested in sociocultural anthropology and to a lesser degree politics. Particularly I am interested in politics of identity, issues of marginalization and subordination and theory. So despite being kicked out, I highly doubt I will lose interest in these fields in the foreseeable future.

A little about me: I attend community college and am working toward my Associates degree in music. I love the beach, it's my favorite place to study. I prefer to learn on my own rather than rely on school to teach me what I want to know. I don't have an area of preference at this time, there is far too much I want to know for me to get specific. I hope that I will one day learn a new language, sadly high school Spanish didn't stick with me too well. emo I have dreams of traveling to distant lands and learning about the culture(s) there. I also hope to learn more about my own culture/heritage.

Name: Erin
Age: 17
Location: In a computer chair.
Tell us about yourself: Hello. I'm slowly trying out different guilds, and this one seemed like it could be up my alley. Anyways, I'm a huge conspiracy theorist. I love discussing anything supernatural, controversial, or just plain weird. My friends call me a "crack-pot", but I also scare the living daylights out of them with my observations about the end of the world or the possibility of life existing outside of this solar system. I'm pretty laid-back, and I enjoy discussing things and reading up on different opinions. Dunno what else to say, really. If I think of anything else, I'll get back to you?

Tell us about yourself: Majoring in Art History with a minor in French; studied at Andrews University and looking to transfer credits to a different university. Over two years experience in libraries. I feel like I'm filling out a job application razz

I'm a pretty avid reader. Even though I'm not very well read up on philosophy, I've been into Aldous Huxley's non-fictional works. I'd really like to discuss/consider other perspectives on philosophy/spirituality.

Also, if you're looking for people to be more than members for the guild, I'd be glad to help out smile

You might be interested in reading some ethnographic material or other anthropological work? These can be quite useful at looking at the role that 'religion' plays in a number of various different cultures. Richard Katz for instance has some good work on the role that the trance dance plays among the Ju| Hoansi. Claude Levi-Strauss has some interesting work looking at various shaman cultures. Indeed it was Levi-Strauss I believe who analyzed their psychoanalytic role among their communities. Robyn Andrews has done some work on the role Catholicism plays in maintaining Anglo Indian identity and community cohesion, particularly in Calcutta. These are the first examples which spring to mind.
