Dearest Papa,
I urge you to sit down before continuing to read this letter because it is going to come as a major blow. As you know I have been trying my best to behave since you punished Viktorya and I during the summer. It started off fine, but during the transition between 2nd and 3rd periods I slipped up and let her get to me. I was therefore late to History of Magic, and Deputy Headmistress Wixom gave me a night of detention and took away 5 house points. I have explained to you before there is a major competition between the four houses at my school. Good deeds get your team points, and bad deeds lose your team points. Well being in the halls instead of class is a bad deed, so I lost those 5 points. You of course understand the concept of detention, so I won't explain that to you. I got to History as fast as possible and apologized to the Professor so as not to create any more damage.
Viktorya was also caught in the halls by Professor Wixom in the next few minutes. As you also know, I am a Ravenclaw Prefect this year. That means I am a kind of leader, and am too assist other students, and especially new students. Since I am a Prefect, I am in all of Viktorya's classes, and I am Viktorya's sister, Deputy Headmistress Wixom put me directly in charge of her. Since she was in the halls instead of class, that put me in violation of my position as Prefect, and Professor Wixom gave me an entire week of detention, and took off 10 more house points.
I behaved myself the rest of History, and made it to Potions without further incident. I was even able to earn Ravenclaw 10 house points, but then I slipped up again. Even though you grounded me all summer, I slipped up again, and let Viktorya anger me. This time however, I was the one to attack as I cursed her with my wand. Wands are forbidden in Potions, and attacking other students is forbidden period. Professor Zanbrecher gave me a month of detention, and I lost 25 house points, and the points for today's potion. She also took me to the Deputy Headmistress, where I had my wand taken for 2 weeks, and my prefect badge taken for 1 month.
I know that by now you are extremely angry with me Papa, but I knew you would rather hear it from me than to have the Deputy Headmistress write to you about it. I understand that I am probably grounded for the rest of my life, and I will do the best I can to accept it. I'm not sure how I can be grounded while at school, but I will await what you have to say to me since in total today I have lost Ravenclaw 40 points, gotten a month and a week of detention, lost my wand for 2 weeks, and lost my badge for 1 month. I am terribly sorry I have shamed you once more Papa. I promise that I will do my very best to behave and get along with Viktorya. Hopefully you will not get another letter like this from me, or one of my Professors. I will see you at Christmas.
Laura
