If you haven't heard of it, check this out: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtmlI've done a little light jogging, and have been meaning to start this for a while. I found some podcasts to go along with it -- meaning, I can listen to the podcast while jogging and have something keeping time for me. I am a fan of this idea. I'm planning to get up early tomorrow morning to start the jogging regimen. If you're at all interested, join in when you want and post your progress here!

Note to Self:
Do not do lunges the day before you start a jogging program. >.o Whoops.
I made it through my first outing, but there were muscles in my butt protesting this the entire time. "Two days in a row?!" they demanded. "Are you kidding?! Lunatic!"
If you weren't aware: It's unwise to exercise the same muscles two days in a row. You need to alternate which muscles you work -- so if you work on your upper body on Monday, then you focus on your legs on Tuesday. The only exception to this are your abdominal muscles, as smooth muscle recovers more rapidly. You can do sit-ups every day of the week and be totally fine for it.
Soyeah, other than that little slip, I'm feeling pretty good about today's exercise. I woke up earlier than usual so I could go out before it got too warm. At about eight AM, I was out the door. I was back home in less than half an hour (and OMG did showering feel good; jogging makes you sweat o.0).
I don't go out again until at least Sunday. Depending on how I feel tomorrow, I may cut myself some slack and bump it back to Monday.

You can do sit-ups every day BUT if you are going to do a physical fitness test either for ROTC or even just a high school physical education class you never do the exercises you'll be tested on two days prior to the test, otherwise you'll not be able to do punch out your top numbers.

I went out again on Monday and this morning -- feeling pretty awesome for sticking with it so far! I woke up at about 7:15 this morning and was a little worried about the weather; it cooled off during the night, but not much, and it was humid out. This is not fun running weather. It was windy, though, and that took away from the heat a little.
My legs are dealing pretty well. I've been doing martial arts class for a while, so things like toe raises have kept my calves in shape. The places I notice giving the most trouble have been the insides of my knees (I think where the sartorius muscle inserts) and a narrow section of my anterior thigh (not sure which muscle).
I'm feeling pretty excited about all this ^^

I've done a few jogs since I last posted in here, but it's been really infrequent because of heat and humidity. It's dangerous to run when it's really humid out -- the sweat can't dry, which means you aren't getting cooled -- and I live in an area where the humidity can reach 100%.
As we go into September, though, the weather has been cooler and a little drier, so I can go back out again. biggrin
