Greetings and Salutations everyone,

Next month I will be leaving for Japan, I will be looking for work opportunities on some of the U.S. military bases, or just try and find work wherever I can

but before I do...

I will be spending a week in Tokyo, where I will be touring the Samurai museum, Studio Ghibli, and visit a Sumo stable where I get to spend a day watching and training with sumo wrestlers.

But here's the kicker.

my friends who have set this up and scheduled for our sumo day, has signed me up for an official sumo match. So next month I will be going to Japan and will have my first official Sumo bout. My friends all gurantee they will take loads of pictures and videos of the fight, so if its not too embarrasing of a loss, I may post some up.

So for the time being, I've taken a break from my Capoeira training and will focus on preparing myself against a professional Sumo wrestler. Ja Hajimemasho!

Dude sumo wrestling training is rough ... I've seen video where in order to increase your flexibility ... they have you strtetch ... then once you reach that point where you can go any futher ... they push you to the point where you're muscle tear ... it wasn't pretty ... I don't think they will go old school with you ... but still ...

oh ... and have fun ...

Thanks mate. Well I'm 10 days away from my flight over, and 15 days from my Sumo bout. If the match isn't too ugly I'll post links to the video which will inevitably be posted on line by my friends who will be documenting the whole event.

Greetings everyone,

Well the bad news was my sumo bout was canceled. There was a conflict in scheduling and the man I was suppose to spar with was at an exhibition tournament in Kyoto.

BUT I still got to spend the day at the Sumo stable, watching the wrestlers practice, and enjoyed a lunch of Chankonabe with the Stable master and the other wrestlers who were there, asking them questions and getting a better insight of sumo as a sport and fighting style. And let me tell you, it's more complicated than just two fat guys trying to knock each other out of the ring. There is so much agility and technical skills required for this fighting style, they were just unbelievable.

I'm still trying to find work over here, one Japanese friend I've made was very impressed with my Capoeira and suggested that I open my own school and teach classes. I still consider myself a novice in Capoeira and am a little iffy on that idea. But I do have some potential jobs lined up that would get me back to Tokyo, closer to the Sumo stables, and if I get one of these jobs it will allow me to spend more time checking out and studying this amazing fighting style.

below are a few pics I was able to take while there.
