So yeah, it's for something I'm writing. I think it would be over-dramatic for this character to have both depression AND epilepsy, so I'm looking for random unbiased votes on which sounds more interesting/worrisome.
EDIT:
Also, I suppose I should add that both conditions are going to be rooted from an event in the character's life. The same event, that actually could be the reason for BOTH conditions.
Oh, and, um, if you have an insight on either condition (that you're comfortable sharing, of course) I would love to hear it.
Your help is much appreciated!

Maybe they can be depressed because they have epilepsy. LOL

LOL true. Well yeah I suppose I should have specified that either condition would be caused by something in the character's past, which occurred in a previous story.

Hmm...well, in that case, do you think you could briefly explain their past? It'd give me a much better idea of which condition could fit better so I could help you choose. If you wouldn't mind explaining, of course. 3nodding

well she was homeless for three years of her life, after her parents and one brother died. However, she's managed to deal with that alright, but toward the end of the story she's, well, "assaulted" by a man, who slams her against a wall so hard that she suffers internal bleeding and nearly dies.
So she has the grounds to be depressed, but her injuries could also result in epilepsy. Either way, the story I'm writing takes place in her friend (who's in love with her but left for college)'s point of view five years after the first story when he comes home

Ah, I see. That sounds slightly similar to Scarlett's life (I took her from a story I was writing, too, so don't feel bad about not being "original" with your RP characters; I've been using her in RPs for a while. LOL), except she was abused by her father, and her father killed her oldest brother, the one who had always shown her love. Depression would fit your character perfectly, as would epilepsy. Maybe a cranial nerve or something else was damaged with the impact which triggered the epilepsy. So yes, I stand by my original decision of your character having depression and epilepsy. It sounds like a really interesting story, though. I would love to read it when it's done. I've been wanting to read that story you posted the link for in the Creative Writing subforum, but I'll have to get a DA account or borrow my friend's to read it. LOL

mmkay yeah sounds like a good idea to me. More reasonable when other people explain it to my irrational little brain. xd

KT: Frickin' awesome!!! I'm so glad you do! I totally hope Deutschland takes the cup, or at least Holland, since I don't believe they have ever won the cup. I was sad when Mexico and England got eliminated, especially since their final games were so stupid because of the boneheaded referees, but at least Germany kicked Argentina's @$$. LOL xd
SS: Chaotic characters are the best. They make life so interesting. LOL mrgreen

DUDE YEAH DEUTSCHLAND TOTALLY PWNED ARGENTINA WOO! I felt bad when they beat England (I'm following like half of the Harry Potter cast on Twitter; their heartbreak crushed me xD), but I'm going to Deutschland next year, so I figured I should show some love ^^

[scottish pride] Oh, well, it is *England* [cough cough]. [/scottish pride]
One note on your character: I think it's entirely possible and even a very good idea to give your character both conditions as long as it doesn't seem forced. From a medical perspective though, epilepsy pretty much never results from a traumatic event or even head trauma. It's a condition you're born with, so you either have it or you don't. PTSD would be a good one though. My character suffers from brief psychotic disorder in the book i'm writing; so that's been fun.
Anybody interested in a link, just shout. I've got it on Google Docs open view.

How certain are you with the epilepsy thing? I've heard of it happening from car accidents, even though it is rare. But if the blow to her head was severe enough to cause fatal internal bleeding (that would have killed her if she hadn't been treated as quickly as she had been), wouldn't it be reasonable to accept that it could cause other problems?

Random but also referring to the topic:
Certain types of Epilepsy can actually cause depression-like symptoms! There are two types of seizures, focal and generalized. If a simple focal seizure takes place in the frontal lobe of the brain - where the emotions are stored - it can cause inexplicable feelings of joy, anger, sadness, or nausea. He or she also may hear, smell, taste, see, or feel things that are not real. Or, when a complex focal seizure occurs it can cause loss of consciousness, or altered consciousness which turns to a dreamlike state, causing the victim to display strange repetitive actions like walking in circles, twitching, opening or closing of the mouth, usually occurring within only a few seconds.
"The symptoms of focal seizures can easily be confused with other disorders. For instance, the dreamlike perceptions associated with a complex focal seizure may be misdiagnosed as migraine headaches, which also may cause a dreamlike state. The strange behavior and sensations caused by focal seizures also can be mistaken for symptoms of narcolepsy, fainting, or even mental illness."

Slipping and hitting your head on the floor can cause fatal internal bleeding if you aren't treated. It's called subdural hematoma, basically, bleeding on the surface of the brain. Epilepsy, in the rare cases where it's not congenital, can occur during and after deep-brain surgery, or as a result of a pathogen such as mad cow disease. Alzheimer's patients have also been known to have scattered cases of epilepsy. So, not as a result of surface head trauma.
(Sorry if I sound a little preachy here or something- my mom's a doctor and my good friend has a form of epilepsy. I wouldn't post if I didn't think I had a good answer)
