Black★Rock Shooter - Information!

Ok so, I have noticed that many people do not know what B★RS is, and have just joined because of no particular reason, so I will add any info at all, and will update this as more info arises, and as the anime/ story develops.

Black★Rock Shooter is a song produced by ryo, the art style for the song was created by huke who create the character called Black★Rock Shooter without any influence from Hatsune Miku contrary to common belief. Ryo was so impressed with huke's art that he was inspired to write a song about it, and thus invited huke to the band called supercell. Now supercell is a band unlike many others, it is unique because of the fact that, ryo is the sole composer of the music, while most other members are artistic support with some instrumental support members as well. Supercell featuring Hatsune Miku was their first album and hit which enticed the Hatune Miku loving populace with their amazing songs. Art was released and movies were made, supercell only got more and more popular. Black★Rock Shooter was so popular, that it was to become an anime, thus they huke and other artists/animators worked hard to make the pilot version, and ryo worked hard to make a different version of the song to fit the pilot version of the anime. The pilot release was intended to see the response of fans, and much to supercell's delight, the demands went through the roof. The song and story about it has many fan made rumors, but all that we know from the pilot launch is that Black★Rock Shooter will be fighting against her assumed sister, Dead Master, in a Gothic, checkered like world. Many different things were released, some things official, some not so much, but either way we must wait for the anime to air in order for me, or anyone else for that matter to know what the story is truly about. Supercell is an amazing band that later recieved the voice of Nagi (formerly known as Gazette I believe) and released new songs, new albums without the help of Miku for vocals. The band's new songs were and are amazing, some of their songs have made it to 3rd on the Daily Oricon Charts of Japan, or something like that. The anime is directed by the director for Haruhi Suzumiya, so I'm sure it will be a great and popular anime.

Black★Rock Shooter is announced to be a 50 min OAV, it will be aired starting June 25th until August 31st on their website. There are many things that others have discussed, including the idea of this being another test/preview much like the Pilot version, and that the DVD they plan on releasing in September is going to be a full length Anime... Lets hope that is the case... a 50 min OAV is not enough for me personally...

OVA Story Summary (in chronological order) by Tsuki from Emory Anime Club

These events have been changed to chronological order because of the fact that both scenes are mixed together and are shown at the same time which lead a lot of people to confusion (Which I facepalm them to since it's not that confusing at all).

Part 1: Slice of life Part

Our main heroine, Matou Kuroi (黒衣 マト), heads off to her first year of middle school. There, she meets Takanashi Yomi (小鳥遊 ヨミ), and they pretty much become best of friends. Kuroi joins the basketball team, while Yomi goes and joins the volleyball team. Kuroi gives Yomi a little star cell phone key chain as a token of their friendship, with Kuroi having an identical key chain on her own phone. They hang out together all the time, during the summer, winter, christmas, throughout the year.

However, when second year comes around, Kuroi and Yomi end up being separated into separate classes. The classes were right next to each other, so they originally figured that everything would be fine since they were so close to each other. The basketball team manager, Yuu, starts to get close to Kuroi, and it eventually turns out that Kuroi is hanging out more with Yuu than Yomi.

Yomi ends up getting jealous, and Dead Master takes advantage of these negative emotions to possess her. Yomi disappears in the middle of school in a weird fuzzy black cloud and only later do people realize she’s actually missing.

After Kuroi was informed about Yomi’s disappearance, she was worried sick and wanted to get in contact with her somehow. After getting a text message from Yomi, Kuroi ends up running up to the place where she had first given Yomi that token of their friendship (the star-shaped cell phone key chain), only to find Yomi’s cell phone key chain abandoned on the floor.

There, Kuroi starts worrying even more, and the keychain starts to glow in a mysterious blue light. Black Rock Shooter had responded to Kuroi’s feelings, and started to descend from the sky. They eventually merge and become one.

Part 2: Black rock shooter fight scenes

After becoming Black Rock Shooter, Kuroi is in some sort of gloomy alternate dimension, where she journeys a long distance to eventually reach an old gothic style church. It is there where Kuroi meets up with Yomi, now possessed by Dead master. After a long and fierce fight, Kuroi corners Dead master, but rather than kill Dead master, Kuroi embraces her in a big hug. Yomi’s emotions somehow manage to overpower Dead master, and ejects Dead Master from her body. She returns to her normal appearance.

Part 3: Return to our world

Yomi and Kuroi return to the real world, now good friends once again. This time around, though, Yuu gets jealous of their rekindled friendship.
