The Sick Sound of the Silenced
>>No one lives forever.
>>With the aid of fiction and fantasy, the above statement has long-since been forgotten. Immortality is out in the world somewhere; or so we have been lead to believe. We yearn to think that we have the opportunity to live forever, but we are sadly mistaken. This is the real word. This is called reality. We find ourselves in the very reality in which immortals do not exist. Although we may very well be the characters of fiction, of some sick fiction that we are attached to, but what are the chances? This is real. This is horribly real. Isn't it?
>>We are eight humans; eight surviving humans after a radioactive experiment gone wrong. We are all sick with the radioactive substance streaming through our blood at this very moment, but we do not understand it. We could be considered lucky that we were not immediately affected by the radioactivity like everyone else, but we are the ones who have to suffer the wrath of those that died at the hand of the experiment. Yes, the ones that died.
>>A side effect of the radioactive explosion occurred in the deceased and decaying bodies. I called it Stimulation, because it stimulated the hearts of the dead, reanimating the corpses. From the stories we've read, we call these creatures zombies. But they're not truly zombies if they don't crave brains; these creatures crave blood and flesh. They crave the sight of destruction to keep them going, and they stop at nothing to get what they want. They no longer think like humans do, despite the fact that they were once humans. They've become smarter. And they're faster than we are, too. So, I've just come to call them Species. After all, that's what they are. Just not our species.
>>Another side effect of the radioactive explosion occurred in the survivors, although we've yet to realize it. Save myself. Believe it or not, we eight humans have actually acquired what the scientists were trying to extract from the experiment. We have gained immortality. Well, something close to it. It's in us, it's in our blood, I know it is! But it's not in effect. In fact, what we have is something that's slowly making us sick. I think it's a derivative of the actual elixir, one that—if left without a last ingredient—will kill us in the end. So we either have to get rid of it as soon as we can, or we have to find out what the scientists researched and figure out what the last element is to make us immortal.
>>I have to go now. I can hear the Species scratching around outside again, looking for food. I need to be careful, otherwise—

 What really happened?
>>Man is a greedy creature. This greed has been the instigator for very many experiments, although none so impacting as this one. And all along, we were told it was safe. All along, we had been told that there was nothing dangerous in the labs. All along, we had been told that everything was going perfectly.
>>Well, we were lied to.
>>Constantly coaxed to the small isle, number 672 in a series of islands named the Hex Series, men from all over the world and their families moved in. They were promised higher pay and a reward so great that none should ever pass up on the opportunity, so of course they would fall into the trap.
>>Years ago, the scientists struck an amazing discovery while using a rare element for heart treatment, known as ER12. There was the belief that the weak radioactivity and gentle energy could make the heart stronger, therefore enhancing lifespan by a few years and curing fatal heart diseases entirely; but, while testing this theory on a very old and dying guinea pig, they stumbled across an even greater result: the creature had lived for the following 25 years, and has not physically aged a day. And it is still alive today. The scientists had discovered an immortality elixir.
>>They were eager to try it on humans, but each test ended with failure. Most test-subjects didn't survive; few survived with defects and strange physical changes that led to more testing. In need of more room, the scientists moved to a remote location where ER12 was more abundant than anywhere else: a small isle off the coast of direct-south Alaska, and is the furthest south in the series, west of California. They hired new minds and fresh workers that wouldn't have an idea about the danger that the experiments proposed, and the radioactivity of the area was ignored.
>>This was a mistake. All of it. Because recently, there was a lab accident. A radioactive explosion that killed over half of the islanders immediately. The rest, save eight, were cursed with the physical changes that the radioactive element occasionally produced, only to a much, much greater extent. And now, the eight survivors who are in fact infected with radioactivity must fight for their lives, if they so choose, and when they find out that the elixir is missing only one thing, they must decide between finishing the elixir and becoming immortal or curing themselves of the curse.

Tips of Survival
❶ Follow all guild and gaian rules, spoken or unspoken. That should go without saying. ❷ Absolutely no god-modding, cybering, harassing, etcetera. Respect the fellow players. Understand that I am goddess of this role-play and what I say goes. End of story. ❸ You join this role-play, you have to post in it. Please don't apply and then never contribute to it. ❹ This is a semi-literate to literate role-play. No txt-tlk, no one-liners, and I do not like constant incorrect grammar, punctuation mishaps, or any such thing. If you find it in your post, fix it. I will notice and be proud. ❺ I love it when your post is pretty. There's a little forum with all of the symbols that you can use, but this is just a suggestion because it will make me very happy. ❻ Follow the theme! This is a horror role-play, based off of a creepy game, so don't be afraid to put in freaky little details, I love those too! ❼ Follow the skeleton I post, and please don't change it up. I hate it when people do that, it makes me feel like I wasted my time. Oh, and if you chose to make a profile, you better send it to me. I don't care how good the profile is, if you post it here, you won't be accepted because that means that you didn't read these rules. And that doesn't make me happy. ❽ Title your sent profile "I am survivor No.(put your number here)" and yes, I'd like to see the quotes around it too because then I really know that you read the rules. I'll also make the survivor gender and personalities, and each one will be numbered, so use the number of the character you want. ❾ Put some wine (icon) in the PM. We all know that in this role-play, everyone will need a drink, regardless of age. ❿ Have fun. I tried to put a little bit of everything in here, using horror (obviously), action, realism, fantasy, basis, and I'll even let y'all fall in love if you want. I spent about five hours getting this story how I wanted it, and I know it's not perfect, but it's close enough for me. So enjoy.
PS: I can change any of these rules at any given time. I'll try not to be unfair about it, and if you have any suggestions for rules, PLEASE let me know. I'll be more than happy to listen to you, but that's not a guarantee that I'll follow your suggestions, m'kay?

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
There are a total of eight surviving humans, as listed:
OPEN>>Male//Survivor No.1-Young and a little cocky, he likes to think himself as the leader of the group with female survivor No.6 as his co-leader. He doesn't particularly like her very much, which is why he lets himself get closer to her than any others so that he isn't so biased when it comes to decision-making for the group. He tends to be a little bit on the sexist side for the girls' protection and takes pride in his strength and his decent wits. TAKEN>>Female//Survivor No.2-The shyest of the group, she's a little older than survivor No.1, making her second oldest by a few days, and admires him for his bravery. She has the mindset that she would be disliked if she ever showed who she really was, so she keeps to herself most of the time. She loves to play finding games and read books and this proves to be a useful quality with her extensive vocabulary and ability to understand and comprehend things. She and survivor No.5 tend to compete for whom is smarter than whom. He ability to handle the Species is better than survivor No.5's, but she is still quite afraid of them. OPEN>>Male//Survivor No.3-The youngest of the group and the most innocent. He doesn't fully understand what has happened on Isle-672, nor does he understand that he is fighting for his life. He's very sheepish around girls and loves to give compliments to them, for he is quick to infatuate, and hates it when girls think him cute for being so young and flattering to women years older than he is. He really wants to prove his worth in the group of survivors and wants to be just like survivor No.1, but his favorite of the flight is survivor No.8 since he finds her the prettiest and the sweetest. He's sometimes teased by survivor No.7 for this. TAKEN>>Female//Survivor No.4-Dark and die-hard, the sadistic masochist is a hell of an addition. She absolutely loathes survivors No.1 and No.8, and is definitely not fond of survivor No.6 since they seem to compete over being the alpha-female. She doesn't care for anyone in the group though, and rarely decides to contribute to their survival efforts. However, she is the most equipped to handle blood, gore, and killing the Species since it doesn't at all bother her. Survivor No.1 is worried about her sometimes, since her wrists are covered by thick scars and her gothic attire makes him question how sane she really is. She and survivor No.7 get along most decently. OPEN>>Male//Survivor No.5-He is the same age as survivor No.2, making him the oldest, and is completely composed of his intelligence. He's been academically inclined all his life and never once considered himself athletic, although he participated in cross-country when he was in eighth grade. Therefore, he is the fastest runner, but otherwise is unequipped to handle himself. He and survivor No.2 subconsciously compete for academic dominance in the group, constantly trying to outwit the other. He is protective of survivor No.3 because survivor No.7 tends to pick on the young boy sometimes, but he understands him since he has fabulous insight for people. He's the second most afraid of the Species. TAKEN>>Female//Survivor No.6-She is the tomboy of the group. She and survivor No.4 attempt to trample each other when it comes to the feminine dominance, and she is not afraid to say that that is exactly what the two are doing. She will speak her mind for just about anything and has no problem confronting people, which is why she and survivor No.1 have no problems working with each other when it comes to being the leaders. The two are tied for bravery, coming in second only to survivor No.4. As much as she hates to admit it, she's somewhat disgusted by survivor No.8 for being the the most girlish, but they both get along fine. TAKEN>>Male//Survivor No.7-The male equivalent to survivor No.4, he is dark and emotional, but well-kept. He is particularly bothered by the Species and doesn't handle them the best, though he's better than survivors No.2, No.5, and No.8. However, despite the fact that he and survivor No.4 get along, he doesn't really like her since she is the bravest and most uncaring. He wishes he could be like that, but he's a little too in touch with his feminine side to do so. He, like she, hates survivor No.1, and with all of the stress getting to him, he takes it out on survivor No.3, even if he tries to restrain. But survivor No.6 is really good at keeping him calm, and he has to admit he kind of has a small crush on her. OPEN>>Female//Survivor No.8-She is the preppy girl of the group and the second youngest, worried about things like boys, breaking her nails, what to wear, and getting her clothes dirty. She knows that survivor No.3 adores her and finds it cute, but never treats him much differently since they're closest in age. She doesn't like saying that she hates people, but she isn't very fond of survivors No.4 and No.7 since they creep her out a little. She's most afraid of the Species and suffers reactions to them sometimes, such as hyperventilation and fainting. She respects survivor No.6 the most, although they differ a little much, and feels much more comfortable around girls since guys make her blush.
Remember to base your character off of everyone else's. For now, you can only have one character, until I say otherwise.

My name is Elyse......six is my lucky number... ...but I'm far from lucky. What's going on?
A series of violent coughs erupted from he girl's throat to stimulate her breath. Her mouth was dry and irritated by dust and minuscule debris, and when she opened her eyes, she found them irritated as well. "Damn it," She growled low under her breath as she rubbed her eyes. It didn't take terribly long before she felt a cool relief from the pain in her eyes, and she sighed lightly only to cough again. As soon as it ceased, she swallowed hard and cleared her throat before sitting up and looking around.
At first, she couldn't recognize where she was. She noticed that there was ash and soot on the ground all around her. There were strange metal pipes sticking up out of the ground a few feet away, and disfigured chains decorated the area around it. Several strange scents hung in the area, among them was one that smelled like burnt plastic--which was giving the girl a huge headache--and one that smelled more organic. Like...flesh. Frantically, she stood from the ash and her eyes flickered to every aspect of her area; and she realized that where she stood was once the center of the children's playground. Where, at the time of the explosion, children had still been at play.
Her arms went to cover her sickened stomach and she backed up, stumbling with every step. Little black carcasses, horribly manipulated beyond recognition, lay around large objects that were once swing sets, jungle-gyms, and seesaws; but what was even more horrifying was that there were places were the bodies once were and no longer are. There were drag-trails lined with blood, too. Unable to take anymore, the girl turned and ran back out into the streets where burning cars had crashed, leaving the roads safer to just jump out into. Her hands flew to her head in disbelief of everything around her. This can't be happening, this can't be happening, this can't be happening! Her mind repeated. She turned several times in place, as if behind her was where everything was still perfect, but the perfection always disappeared just before she got there.
Eventually she fell back onto the hot asphalt, dizzied, and scooted herself back until she curled up against the brick wall of a decrepit building. She held her hands against her heart, where her fingers touched a cool chain. The girl frowned and pulled the chain--along with the dog-tags attached--into her view. The metal plates read few words and a name: Elyse. Maya. Duvate.❝If stopping your heart is what it takes to calm you down, I'll do it.❞

▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄ Elektra quickly covered her nose from the foul smell that filled the room she was in. Noting made sense on what just happened, all there was a bright light, and everything went wrong. She sighed and stood up off her bed and pulled the blanket off of herself before she could stand up and retrieve her clothes instead of the night gown she was wearing. As quick as she could, she pulled on her tight leather top and black pleather pants before she pulled the bandages off of her wrist showing black lines on them. She looked at them oddly but she ignored them as she searched the orphanage for living people instead of the burned corpses. She sighed seeing them jogging down the stairs finding no one else. She gave up the search when she left figuring she'd run across someone eventually. She walked down the empty streets hearing noting at all. It made her worried that there was no sounds since in her world, its impossible to not have anything ever living. Elektra trotted down the street with her knee high buckled boots making barely any noise unless she ran across the broken glass. Soon, she found a weapons store and climbed through the broken glass door digging through their weapons. She found a trench coat in the back that had holsters in the inner lining for her guns. She grabbed a few large hand guns and lots of ammo before she grabbed a large claymore and strapped it to her back. "Alright, now who on this dust ball is still alive?" she wondered out loud leaving the store again. Her sighed holding her large blade over her shoulder bored already. There was nothing going on right now and it was boring her out of her mind. She climbed up a building's side into the building sitting up onto the top of the roof looking around. She squinted her eyes seeing things walking around, but they weren't human at all. They looked like risen dead with their fleshy burnt bodies. She put her blade away sighing looking around for someone else here. It was past boredom already even though it was quiet interesting how everything looked. Cars flipped, things blown to smithereens, burnt bodies, and now the living dead. "I imagined the end of the world being more color full then just burnt ash," she grumbled watching the zombies tear through everything.

 VictorDelrobe Hugo
Victor covered his eyes as soon eye as soon as they caught a bright light in it distance. They where left stinging and he was in pain at this moment. A few thoughts wandered about his mind and he wondered what the hell just happened. After a minuet or two he slowly opened them only to find that his vision had become blurry and there where these spots of light every where. Blinking they did not seem to fade and he had a mild headache. His gaze wandered about the room and he was trying to see what he could make out and there seemed to be some damage around the room he was in. Wandering about aimlessly for a few minuets he found him self in the remains of the kitchen. There where bits of broken glass on the ground and he slowly regained his sight before heading out of his home. His thoughts when straight to his old man and he hoped that his father was not caught in the middle of that explosion?
Shaking his head slightly he saw something moving around outside and was unsure what it was. Victor went to the near by exit and saw a person walking towards him but something seemed wrong. The smell of rotting flesh slowly filled his noise and he felt slightly sick. Looking back over the body seemed to be getting closer and closer but they where missing there lower jaw. As soon as he noticed that he bolted back into his home and locked the door. He watched one to many movies and knew well enough what that thing was but he was not really sure if it was real or a delusion caused by that light. Although when a the sound of something bashing the door filled his ears he was thrown out of his thoughts and into relaity.
Victor moved about quickly and headed to his fathers office where his gun safe was. There should be some firearms in there but he knew there would be nothing big. Franticly he searched around for the key and wondered where his father hid the damn thing of if he had it on him. It took sometime but he found what he needed. Opening it up he found a .44 magnum and it was a large frame revolver. Grabbing it he made sure it was loaded and the safety was off but it seemed he was a bit slowly. Feeling him self being pulled the ground he looked up at the dead man. To say the least he was scared. Moving his hand up he managed to keep them away while pressing the gun to there skull. A loud bang filled the air and should be heard from some distance around.
A sickening sound also filled his ears and he pushed the body off of him before wiping some blood from his face. Not even fifteen minuets in and he was covered by blood and god knows what else. Victor straighten his thinking quickly before picking him self up. He began to scavenge his house for anything of use and made sure to grab plenty of ammo. Grabbing his backpack he began to fill it with whey he thought would be useful items.

My name is Elyse......six is my lucky number... ...but I'm far from lucky. Slumber had befallen Elyse as she sat curled up against the bricks. She was surrounded by warmth, as all the stone and concrete and even the air had arisen in temperature. With the distress unsettling her, the girl had somehow found it in her to fall asleep midst an apocalyptic area; but the sleep was short-lived when Elyse became intensely aware of something coarse gracing her skin and tugging on her hair. "Hmm?" She asked as she stirred awake and her eyes fluttered open to see a hideous carcass growling foul breath upon her. Immediately, Elyse froze and pressed herself up against the wall. If I don't move, will it go away? And her question rang false.
With a sharp cry, the creature grabbed Elyse by both arms and dragged her from the comfort of the bricks. She yelped as it tossed her into the streets and let out a feral roar; one that definitely wasn't expected of what seemed to be a zombie. But yes, this piece of decaying flesh clung to charred bone was roaring at her as she lay fearful on the street just before it's deceivingly powerful limbs let it pounce at her. Elyse raised her arms and caught the creature, smacking it back. There was a look of surprise in it's eyes, and then it went full out and picked her up by her long hair. The girl screeched harshly at the pain and clawed at her harasser, collecting burnt matter under her nails, and also rendering it confused before it grabbed her arm and bit into her flesh.
Elyse screamed and it winced. It cringed long enough for her to land a powerful punch against the side of it's head, to which she head a gruesome sharp crack followed by another cry of annoyance. It was only typical that the zombie-likes didn't feel pain. They weren't really zombies, they were the burnt, mutated humans that weren't killed in the explosion, so of course they couldn't feel pain with their nerve receptors burned beyond any sort of sensitivity. But they could feel annoyed and disinclined to attack, just like any other species. Species. Not zombies, Species, Elyse thought, and her entire process of thinking had elapsed in the time span of a mere second, since that was all she had.
The Specie's head fell back, limply hanging from the joint that connected it's neck. Next, it released her arms, and then fell back altogether. Dead. Elyse breathed heavily in astonishment. Well, she was a tomboy. Of course she knew how to fight, how to defend herself if need be, and overall how to kill an attacker. And this creature, the Specie that was one of an entire colony of Species, was definitely an attacker worth killing. "Of course," Elyse muttered, "They were once humans. They can be killed just like we can be killed, in any way. They just can't feel it." She inwardly rejoiced at how her quick thinking and comprehension had led to such a useful conclusion. However, there were more out there, looking for food. And Elyse was pretty sure that humans were their food. I'll just sneak my way back home and pack up some stuff. Hopefully find a better weapon than my fists, She thought, begining her silent trek back homeward; but just as she did, she remembered the horrific image she'd encountered, waking up to her dead family all around her. They were still there.❝If stopping your heart is what it takes to calm you down, I'll do it.❞

▂▃▅▆█Kacia Rain Bossier ❝Please, let me help…❞ Kacia groans softly, putting her hand to her head gently. She hisses in pain, pulling her hand back to see blood, some clotted and some still 'wet'."What happened?"she groans, shakily getting to her feet. Alright....before she woke up, she was reading MAX by James Patterson, just to pass the time before her doctor's appointment. Then....there was that bright light and she fell over. She must have hit her head during the commotion caused by it, thus her current condition. "Alright, so, question is...never mind,"she states with a slight eep at the end, looking at the charred bodies around her with a gulp. Why wasn't she like that? She looks up at the sound of something moving. "Hello...is someone there?"She calls out, stepping over a particularly burnt body with a gulp, trying to keep the content of her stomach down. But, then she blinks, seeing the person ahead and gasps. He was covered in burns!"Oh my gosh! Sir, you shouldn't be moving around!"she exclaims, running to his side over the debris.
Yet, instead of a grateful man to collapse in pain as she expects, he pounces at her. She screams, jumping back as the man chomps down on air. She turns and runs, not feeling like being with the apparently crazed and in pain man.::When I compare my length to everyone else's, I feel very inferior crying sweatdrop ::

 VictorDelrobe Hugo
Victor gathered what he needed from around the house and his backpack was filled with various items. Some food and water along with a change of clothing and small first aid kit and other items he felt that might be useful. Going for the phone he lifted up and the lines where dead so he figured it would be useless to call his father. A few stray thoughts wandered about his mind and he made his way up stairs and he changed into a clean set of clothing. He put on a black hoodie and zipped it up before putting the backpack on. Once that was all finished he made his way down stairs and grabbed him self a baseball bat to use for the time being. A sigh came from him and he looked out of a near by window. The area seemed clear and he made his way outside. Scanning the surrounding area he began to walk with caution wondering if he would find any other survivors.
After some time the sound of a scream filled his ears and he changed his direction quickly. Victor moved towards it at a quickened pace only to see a women running in his direction. Raising one of his hands he ways to her in hopes that she notices him. His gaze wandered around the area quickly and it seemed that they where not alone and she was being chased by something. Gripping the bat tightly he began to make his way towards her and would be more then ready to take down the creature that was behind her.

▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄ Elektra looked in the direction of the gun shot and she frowned. She pulled the rifle off her back and she yawned. She stretched a little bit before she heard the scream. Rolling her eyes, she pushed back her hair out of her face seeing the little bit of zombies around. She cocked her rifle and lowered the rifle down and took aim at the 'zombie's' head. Shivering, she looked down the rifle and sighed. Elektra smiled and pulled the trigger. The bullet raced down through the air viciously into the bullet blew through the creature's head. She leaned down against the wall and sighed loudly closing her eyes completely relaxed. Elektra laid there bored waiting for something else to happen that was worth paying attention to. She looked down at the people she saved, but she didn't really care, to her, it was only for her practice. She yawned and closed her eyes again frowning yawning loudly upset frowning. Elektra was bored out of her mind before she ran down the building and made her way into the streets feeling like a cowboy from one of the movies. She smiled a little bit chuckling a little bit enjoying the lack of people around town without all the people complaining to her. As she saw more creatures coming towards her, she swung her blade fast and hard killing the creature that came after her.

▂▃▅▆█Kacia Rain Bossier ❝Please, let me help…❞ She ran as fast as her legs would take her, which was pretty fast thanks to her days on the track. She looked ahead, trying to find the best path to take to lose the thing behind her. That's when she spotted the man, waving her over to him. She nodded, picking up the pace a slight bit more to get to him. She expertly jumped over the debree in her way before finally getting close to the man holding the baseball bat.He must've ran into these crazed people before....
