The New Draconic Era
You lay staring at the cieling, another sleepless night, just as it has been for the past few days, the cause of your sleeplessness continuing to evade your reasoning. Thinking some fresh air will do you some good, you decide to open the window.
Taking a short glance at the starry night sky, you can't help but notice a single star, much brighter than the rest and apparently... getting brighter?
Going outside into the street to get a better look at this star, you can confirm the star is getting brighter. When the star bceomes so bright you must avert your eyes, it's light simply disappears without a trace.
Believing the "show" to be over, you head back inside disappointed, but just as you reach the door, a deafening screech fills the air, followed by an explosive crash from the street behind you, almost knocking you over. Apparently something had just struck the street in front of your house with incredible force, and, jumping to conclusions, the "star".
If you weren't terrified beyond the capability of rational thought, you would have wondered why no one else seemed to be noticing this, as well as why you were walking towards whatever it was that fell from the night sky, and left a crater in the street.
This "star", upon further investigation, just seems to be an asteroid, a relatively small, and perfectly smooth asteroid, but still an asteroid nonetheless. Despite your better judgement, you pick up the rock-- strangely cold despite it's entry into the atmosphere-- and take it into your house, setting it down in your room. At the very least it would end up as a conversation starter, but you hoped to get in the papers with this. Even after what just happened, and how hard it had been even before, sleep strangely comes easily to you.
The first thing you see when you wake up, is the rock, or rather, several pieces of the rock (That you can see from the pieces is hollow) scattered about the room, and the first comprehensible thought you have-- "Oh crap, i've seen this movie before, it doesn't end well".
Deciding to just get it over with, you take a look around, and to your limited surprise, find a small lizard--a dragon, wandering aimlessly around your house.
You've read plenty of books, and heard a lot of stories about this kind of thing, and in all of them, the best thing that can be done, in the long-run anyway, is for the dragon's existence to be kept a secret. So you just set some food out for the dragon, and head out, hoping a short walk will help you come up with something more permanent and specific than "Keep it a secret".
Taking your first step out the door, you realize the dragon has managed sneak outside with you.
Taking your second step outside the house, you don't see the group of Police officers and news cameras investigating the crater in the street as you'd expect, but instead, you find yourself surrounded by trees, apparently in a forest, and when you turn around back to the door, it's gone, disappeared into thin air.
By this point, almost nothing could surprise you, you'd convinced yourself that this was either some sort of odd dream, or your greatest opportunity, and headed deeper into the forest, until eventually, you walk into an obscenely large clearing, containing the one thing you weren't expecting to see, other people, with other dragons.
After investigating the clearing further, it can also be reasoned that this isn't the first time something of this sort has happened, in the clearing are a number of tents, huts, tools, weapons, suits of armor-- Basically you've stumbled upon a medieval era city. On top of this, everything in the clearing, is invincible, that's right, none of it can be damaged, in any way, houses, weapons, armor, none of it
Whenever anyone attempts to leave the forest, they simply appear where they will themselves to go, the same goes for when anyone tries to return to the forest.
Anything of value (other than the weapons and other such things) have already been gathered, and sold, enough money to supply anyone with anything they could ever want (within reason) for the rest of their lives has been amassed, and is free to use for those responsible enough to handle the responsibility.
