Name: Marilyn Green
Age: 86
Race: Human
Appearance: http://comps.fotosearch.com/comp/FSP/FSP158/elderly-woman_~058002.jpg
Personality: Marilyn was trained by a man who'd seen the true harshness of the world, and trained her to deal with anything and everything that came her way. She is a fierce teacher and skilled in her craft. She has not had much in the way of a real life, spending every day and night in the library, assisting in its day to day operation until it closed. After it did, she remained living there, spending most of her time meditating in front of the spot where her predecessor has claimed the door to the nexus shall appear. She has spent little time outside the library since she was a child.
She has paid vague attention to the world outside, not knowing much in the way of news, but does know somewhat the magical affairs of the town. She has been keeping an eye on the town, looking for the one that shall inherit magical abilities and shall become her successor. She has vague knowledge that the barrier magic is getting weaker, but she believes this is connected to her own aging and the weakening of her abilities. She believes that once she her duty has been passed on to one of the younger generation, the barrier shall become strong once again.
She is fiercely prejudiced, believing that anything non-human in the way of magics should be destroyed on the spot. She did not always believe this, but as she has become old and embittered she is slightly paranoid, believing it is her duty to destroy any non-humans that slip beyond the barrier and into Everwood. She started this way after she her fiance was killed during World War II in a 'freak accident', according to his platoon, when his plane was destroyed under mysterious circumstances.
Powers: Marilyn is a sage, meaning she has the ability to manipulate the powers of magic itself. Due to this, she has the ability to use any inactive magic, while at the same time she has no specialty, which does leave her at a slight disadvantage. However, do to her advanced age and mental state her powers have begun to deteriorate, and while she's still rather powerful in her own right, she is no longer as powerful as she once was.
History: Marilyn began showing that she had powers at the age of eight. When she did, she was taken from her parents by one of the town's elder residents, her parents rather glad to be rid of her at the time. She was trained to use her powers to defend the nexus in the event that the barrier magic should fail, and the magical world coming to steal its powers. She became quite skilled in its use, and as her final test she battled her trainer in full on combat, which ended in his death.
Unwilling to let the protection being its full life, Marilyn courted with a young man she'd known when she was a child, and the pair were set to be married when he returned from the war. Little knew that Marilyn was pregnant, as she chose to spend all of her time not spent with her fiance in the library, doing her duty to defend the nexus. When he was killed in an accident during the war, Marilyn thought that it was because she had tried to have a life outside of protecting the nexus, and the magical world had killed him for it. So, she devoted herself to protecting the nexus and tending the library.
When she was in her late forties, she could no longer afford the upkeep of the library and it was closed, and a new public library was opened in the next county. She continued to live in the library, selling off most of the books and fixtures so she could afford to continue keeping the lights on and the water running. She spent her time meditating in front of the spot on the wall where the nexus would eventually appear, or so she was told. She has recently begun using her powers to sense for her soon-to-be-replacement, to train them in the ways of magic.
((This is a fairly bad profile for me, but I don't intend on using her that much. She's more... there to be there. Anyways, if you're a human, she's the only one that can train you, currently. She hasn't trained anyone yet, so if your character has any amount of skill, they've done it themselves. However, don't make your character -THAT- skilled, or she will detect you, and likely attack you. That, and it makes it fair))
