This is a budding idea, not entirely thought out, but I thought I'd ask for a bit of feedback.
It takes place in 1378 in a Spanish country. Note that this does not take place in the real world.
The king of this country (both unnamed so far) is on a greedy, paranoid rampage, sort of like the Milksop in Inkdeath and the Red Queen in the new Alice in Wonderland. There was a woman (also unnamed) who was like a female version of Robin Hood: she stole from said king and nobles and gave to the starving poor. Finally, the king caught her and killed her. But she left behind two daughters: Abella and Sol. Abella developed thoughts of revenge and became a thief to lead the people in a rebellion which would lead to the death of the nobles. Sol kept her mother's philosophies and beliefs in hand and became a thief to carry on her mother's work. Sol does not kill; that choice is up to the people. All she does is "peacefully" steal from the rich and give to the common man.
This becomes a civil war as Bello Vencejo (Sol's thief name, which means "Beautiful Swift") and Negra Cisne (Abella's thief name, which means "Black Swan") duke it out on each other, struggling to win more followers than the other to carry out a recovery by their own means. This leads to chaos, violence, and utter destruction.
No, I did not give away the ending in this. Anyways, this is not a complete idea, but I do have a good amount of plot laid out in my head which I did not share. Is this a good idea? Please be bluntly honest and don't be afraid to slam it down. That sort of harsh criticism actually helps me more than constructive stuff.

I like it. It is different enough from Robin Hood to make it seem rather original, but it is not so different that it seems absolutely ridiculous. I think it has serious potential. I'd consider reading it.

I'd consider reading it. Thanks. But can you spot any holes where things are shady except for the name thing? Sol and Abella aren't entirely human. Their mother was half human and half cat, so both Sol and Abella have just enough cat in them that they both have cat tails. This is a world where myth and magic exists. Also, both of them have spirits that accompany them when they are robbers. Sol has a little white Chinese dragon, a very small, thin one, but with tremendous power. Abella has a huge black wolf demon.

The cat parts kind of weird unless other people in their realm have animal characteristics. Same is true for the spirits. If other people have them, great, otherwise, ehhhh....

There are other people with animal characteristics, just not in the Spanish country, since it's rather small. The whole animal thing is a bit uncommon, so you can't really expect such a small country to have a bunch. Even having two is amazing for them, and it's all because their mother decided to live there. Spirits are attracted to people who aren't entirely human, so a few people in the country other than Sol and Abella have spirit companions like that because they have gifts themselves. Special gifts are much more common, and I mean as common as 1 in 4 people, than the animal part. For the animal, it's like 1 in 100 people.

I'd consider reading it. It sounds pretty interesting. 3nodding Although for me, a more deciding factor is the execution, so I'll have to wait until you write it to see. <3
