Roleplay name: Pirate's life for me ~
(I know it's a crappy title, but I couldn't think of something better. D: )

Characters: Pirate!England and Colony!America

Time: 16th century.

Brief Summary: England still has America under his control, and does his best to keep it that way. During this time period, he spends a lot of time out at sea, which limits his visits to his little colony. So, one day, Arthur decides to bring Alfred along, despite the disagreements of his boss and crew mates. Oh course, this means that Alfred will have to do some 'work' around the ship, because Arthur won't stand for him just lying around. . .

Arthur groaned as he turned over in his bed, the movement of the ship wasn't helping him sleep as it should have. How did he get into this situation? One moment, he was getting ready to leave for the next voyage at sea, a trip to torture that Spaniard again, no doubt. Now, he was on his ship with his charge, Alfred, who begged Arthur to come along. Arthur refused, he wouldn't hear of it! The sea was no place for a child, especially someone like Alfred.
Still, those adorable puppy-dog eyes and that pouty face were two things Arthur couldn't resist. That boy needed to be taught a lesson, which in Arthur's sick mind, involved a chair, rope, and those cute little sounds coming from that little blond's mouth.
Arthur shook his head and blushed a deep red, he shouldn't be thinking about that sort of thing about someone as young as Alfred! That bloody frog was turning him into a *****. . this wasn't good.
Arthur sighed and continued to start up at the ceiling, finally coming to the conclusion that he wasn't going to get any sleep. Oh well, it wasn't like he needed it; this was only a nap.
As he swung his legs over to the edge of the bed, Arthur sat up at the edge. He rested his elbows on his knees as he ran a hand through his messy blond hair. He made a face of disgust, it would be time for a bath soon. . .

"Arthur, take a bath with me!"

Again, he flushed, but this time only to a light pink. That child, saying things without thinking them over. . Then again, Alfred was still young, his mind untainted and pure. That is, if he hasn't been near Francis net. . Arthur would make sure of that. He had a feeling it would cause a problem in the future.
Standing up from the bed, Arthur walked over to his desk in the dark, crapped captain's quarters. As unappealing the life at sea was for most people, Arthur enjoyed it. The thrill of discovering new lands was what he lived for, and he loved the rocking of the boat and splash of sea spray on his cheeks.
Grabbing his coat and hat, which was a show of his position on the ship, Arthur exited the room, and into the main deck where his crew was doing the daily scrubbing. He looked around, holding a hand to his eyes to shield him from the burning sun. He wrinkled his nose, the smell of his crew's hard work was more than obvious. . . Oh well, one had to get use to that sort of thing when you live the life of a pirate.

As he searched, he realized Alfred was nowhere to be seen.
"Hmph. Where did that boy run off to. . " He muttered to himself, before marching over to one of his crew mates. After the usual salute and look of horror on whoever he decided to torment, Arthur cleared his throat and spoke.

"Alfred. Have you see him?" Arthur spoke in a low, threatening voice, he had to show no weakness to the people he needed respect and fear from. The crew mate nodded, and told him where Alfred might be. Arthur listened intently, a hand on his chin, though his eyes expressed pure boredom.
Once he knew the location of the blond, Arthur nodded and ordered him back to work, before walking away and towards wherever Alfred was 'hiding' at the moment. . . Such a troublesome child, but he was cute, so that made up for it. . Right?

Alfred F. Jones

Alfred wasn't known to be an early riser, though there were days, most specifically days when England came to visit that he was, and he was always full of energy on those days. Which is why on this day, Alfred was out and about making use of his endless curiosity and adventurous disposition, as was normal for a Colony of his young age. Today however, was special in the fact that, due to a good bit of begging and puppy dog-eyed looks, Alfred had finally been allowed to join his caretaker on his voyage in his pirate ship! To say the North American colony was excited was an understatement.

The second he woke up, America ran for his big brother's quarters, throwing open the door and fully prepared to start on their pirate adventure only to see that his England was still fast asleep. Walking over to the bed, Alfred nudged it lightly, whispering for his father figure to wake up. England always said you had to be very quiet when people were asleep. Unfortunately, it looked like England was not going to be waking up anytime soon.

A pout made it's way to the colony's face and stepped back from the bed, staring at the sleeping figure for a few more seconds before coming to a decision. Smiling brightly, Alfred took the hat that he had come to know as Arthur's Captain Hat from its place, settling it atop his head and heading out to the deck. If England couldn't be Captain right now then Alfred would have to help out and do it for him! Maybe if he really did a good job, England would take a bath with him this time! He missed when they used to do that.

Thus, the day consisted of the Captain's little blond ward running around the ship and giving random orders, much to the amusement of the crew. By late morning, Alfred had managed to climb up into the crow’s nest, a large golden telescope in hand, which was given to him by one of said crew members. Alfred decided he liked them, mostly because they belonged to England, but also because they gave him things and were nice and fun!

Peeking down from where he'd settled within the crow's nest, Alfred noticed the instant that England made his way onto the deck. A bright smile made its way to the colony's face and he climbed up, grabbing onto a rope hanging down beside him, prepared to fly down to the country. Arthur was looking for him! "England! I'm coming!"

And Alfred jumped from his perch, swinging straight for the unsuspecting Nation.

With a sigh, Artur wondered where that boy ran off to. The crew mates told him it was here. . . But there was no adorable little blond with vibrant blue eyes in sight! Arthur groaned and lifted his hand to grab his hat, only to find out that it wasn't there. In his groggy state while putting on his coat and hat, Arthur didn't noticed that he hadn't even grabbed the hat. He let out an exasperated sigh, there was only one person on the entire ship who would even dare to take Arthur's hat, or enter his room without permission, for that matter. He marched forward to continue his search, when he heard that familiar voice calling him out. He looked up, only to see the tiny American heading towards him from the crow's nest. Arthur's face paled, was he insane?! He could get hurt! Arthur wouldn't have it. He held out his arms to catch the boy, and grunting from the impact as he did. He glared at the little colony, he could be so reckless sometimes. .
"W - What the bloody hell were you thinking?! You could have gotten hurt if I hadn't caught you!" This sort of behavior require punishment. . But how could he do anything when going against those eyes?
Arthur put him down, a frown in place after being called "England", and not "Arthur". Sure, the Brit told Alfred from day one to call him England. . But it would be nice if the boy recognized him as more than just a country.
"Don't do that again, understand? Now give me back my hat, you'll get it dirty." He grumpily muttered, before grabbing said hat and placing it on his head, where it belonged. He help Alfred's hand to make sure he didn't run off, and turned to look at his crew, who seemed to all be in a good mood. His eyes widened in shock, then trailed back to Alfred, who was smiling as always. Arthur returned the smile, maybe having him on board wasn't such a bad idea. . .

"I think it's time for you to take a bath." Arthur mumbled, then remembering that he also needed one as well. Of course, this brought thoughts to his head that made him flush a deeper red than his hat,, which he did his best to ignore. It was only a bath! I wasn't going to try anything, Alfred was only a boy. Yet, he seemed to be growing faster each and every day. . It was almost unbearable.

America didn't have a great sense of fear for the world, living among and surrounded by it since he first came to be. Though things had changed now and that part of his life was more of a memory ever since his colonization, Alfred still remembered, and he welcomed every new challenge with enthusiasm and spirit. In this case, jumping from a very high place. Alfred knew England would catch him if he jumped. He always did, and the colony would trust the Nation with his life. That, and Alfred wanted to prove himself to the man who had begun raising him. He wanted to show him that he was strong for him.

So when England caught him, America fully expected him to be proud of his great feat and the innitiative he had taken in being responsible for the crew while the real Captain was out of comission. However, as he looked up, eyes bright and hopeful for praise, he was disappointed to see that England was not smiling, nor was he happy with his colony's accomplishment. Instead, a scowl coloured the Nation's face and the words that left his lips only dampened the boy's spirits even more so.

Just as soon as his smile had appeared it was gone, lips turning down into a frown as he lowered his head in shame. Arthur was mad at him. He tried so hard to do good by him and he had been being bad all along. He knew Arthur would catch him. It wasn't dangerous. It was never dangerous when England was around. These thoughts only made Alfred become more and more discouraged. Arthur didn't even trust Alfred with his hat. He was so careful with it too. He didn't let anyone else touch it.

Wrapped up in these thoughts as he was, he didn't look up to see England's reaction to the state of his crew, nore did he see the smile grace the older man's face. No, by the time Arthur had come out of his fright and declared bath time, tears had already begun to flow down Alfred's face, small whimpers escaping him even as he fought to hold them back. He had failed England.

Arthur sighed and ordered his crew mates back to work, not turning to look at Alfred as he walked away from where they were standing and towards his quarters. He hadn't noticed that his little colony was upset, the shaking, he merely passed off as excitement. Why that boy became excited whenever he had the opportunity to bath with Arthur was unknown to him. He didn't question, he was too cute. .

Arthur's eyes shot open as he heard a low whimper. He blinked and looked around, before turning back to face Alfred, only to find the blond crying. Arthur eyes widened in surprise, why was he crying?
"What are you so upset about?" He tried to sound cold and serious, but his tone only made it obvious that he was worried as to why Alfred was crying. Figure it probably had something to do with his yelling before, Arthur ran a hand through his hair as he looked at the opposite side of the room. He turned back, and knelt down so that he was at Alfred's level. Patting his head and giving him a smile, Arthur did his best to cheer him up, he didn't want to see those tears on that face, where was that confident, 'I'll be a hero one day!' smile?

"I'm sorry. . You did great out there. But you still worried me." It was true, the only reason Arthur yelled was because he was scared the moment he say Alfred jump off such a height. Well, he was safe now, although that didn't give him an excuse.

Alfred kept his head down, face pressed against his little hands, trying to wipe away his shame, and not wanting his caretaker to notice the blatant show of weakness that was his tears. The men in his land had said that a man doesn't cry, and Alfred had always tried to follow what little bits of wisdom he could grasp from his people. Humans said the most interesting things sometimes. So following their knowledge, Alfred deciede that if he couldn't stop his tears he'd just have to hide them. It didn't occur to him to question the words of those men, nor did he realize that crying was a completely normal and healthy thing to do.

He thought he was doing a good job of it too, but it looked like he just couldn't keep the solemn whines and whimpers from escaping him, and despite his best efforts, England noticed, hearing the quiet sounds and looking down at Alfred to see the tears flowing down the boy's face. But Arthur didn't seem angry anymore, and he didn't say anything about the tears. Rather, he knelt down, asking Alfred what was wrong. And he was smiling.

Small hiccups overtook the colony as he fought to stop his tears, rubbing at his eyes as he did so. Arthur wasn't mad at him; he was only worried. Alfred managed a tiny, shaky smile, eyes still watery from his previous bought of tears, as he moved forward to hug his father Nation, giving him a light peck on the cheek. France taught the funniest things when he came to visit every now and then, even if England would beat him up and chase him off soon after, and Alfred thought the action was appropriate in this situation. "I-I'm sorry...I promise I won't do it again. I just want to be strong for you, Arthur. I want to protect you too..."

Arthur sighed, patting the boy's head and ruffling his hair slightly. He listened to Alfred's words carefully, though because he was still tired, he barely comprehended what he said.

Until he spoke about protecting Arthur. The pirate's eyes widened, the words hit him like an arrow to the chest. Protect. . Him? No one had ever said those words to him, it was always him having to protect others. His country, his people, his queen, it was all up to him. To have someone say they would protect him almost brought him to tears. Of course, he couldn't cry in front of Alfred, the boy looked up to him. Arthur merely nodded and stood up again, once again taking Alfred's hand, and giving him a tiny smile.

"Don't be daft." He said kindly, leaning more towards kindly joking, as oppose to actually doubting Alfred will one day protect him. Arthur knew, he couldn't be this way forever. Times will change, he would settle down to a much more peaceful lifetime. During that time, he looked forward to having Alfred around to help, for them to live in eternity this way. .

Yet, there was something at the pit of his stomach that told him this would not last forever. He had to be careful, this boy demonstrated that he could think on his own. . And that, itself, frightened Arthur. He subconsciously tightened the grip he had on Alfred's hand, his face took a solemn glow. He refused to think of such things, he would make this last forever.

When they arrived to the bath area, Arthur yawned again, and hung his coat and hat on the hanger, then looked back at Alfred. He wasn't as nervous as he was earlier that day, which was a good thing. . .
"Alright, time for a bath. . " Arthur's hands trailed to his white shirt, he slowly began to unbutton it from top to bottom. After that was over, he left it in a pile next to the tub. He looked back down at Alfred, and nervously asked, "Need help?"

Alfed's tears had cleared up by now, though his red-rimmed eyes would remain so fo a while. His seemingly permanent smile had also returned deeming everything as normal once again as he leaned up into the hand running through his hair with a contented hum. Everything was alright now, and Alfred hoped dearly that his words had reassured and made England happy to know of Alfred's intentions.

So it came as a surprise to him when he opened his eyes to see the look on the Nation's face. England looked like he was about to cry and he didn't understand what had happened to bring that look to Arthur's face. He didn't think he'd said anything that would make his father Nation unhappy. Didn't he understand that it was going to be okay now?

He didn't have time to dwell on the other's strange change because just as quickly as the look had come, it disappeared and was replaced with the smile Alfred was accustomed to seeing on the man's face.

Unfortunately, this, as well as his next words were even more bewildering to him, and he furrowed his brows. He could hear the joking tone in his caretaker’s voice; could see it on his face, and he knew England had heard everything he’d said. But Alfred couldn’t help but get the feeling that the other wasn’t taking him completely serious. He knew now that if he really wanted Arthur to see how determined he was that he would have to try much harder than he already had been. Alfred would do his best to be everything he could for the man holding his hand; he’d give him the world if he could. The next smile to make its way to the boy’s face was one filled with promise and stubbourn determination. He had a purpose. He’s show everyone one day, even if no one believed in him yet.

It was then that Arthur announced his morning bath and Alfred's thoughts went from his goals to excitement and complete and utter joy at the fact that he was going to be spending time with Arthur once again. Plus, bathtime was always fun. He let out a squeal of delight, raising his arms at England's question and bouncing with renewed energy, not that he ever ran out in the first place. "Yes, yes yes! You'll take one with me this time too, right? We always used to take them together." He urged hopefully, looking up with the most innocently inquiring expression he could muster.

Arthur sighed, the look on his face seem to have an affect on him, because he just couldn't say no.
"I suppose it won't hurt." He said with a tiny smile, though he was feeling a little nervous about this. .
Then again, why should he? This was his son. . right? There was nothing he'd never seen before, so why was he so shaky? Arthur knelt down and began to unbutton the boy's shirt, glad he could at least keep it clean in such a filthy environment.
"But this will be the last time. . You're a big boy now,and big boys don't need to take baths with their. . . guardians." Claiming himself as the boy's father was just wrong, especially with what he thought of doing to him half of the time. "And neither do heroes. . " He mumbled, knowing he would get some sort of reaction from that.
Arthur mumbled, before finishing the last of the buttons and slipping off the white shirt. He looked so delicate, so innocent, as if he could break if in the wrong hands. . . Which he might just be in.

A light pink tint spread across his face, though he blamed it on the heat of such a crowded room. Yes, it was the heat, nothing more.
. . Then again, where did this heat come from?
Arthur stood up again and unbuckled the rest of his own clothing, before continuing to help Alfred with his own.
Once they were finished with that, Arthur slipped into the tub, sighing as warm water hit his skin. Helping Alfred in as well, he was glad he brought along the large tub, or else they both wouldn't have fit. Arthur sighed and beckoned with his hand for America to come closer, his hand reached for the sponge he had ready, and dipped it in the soupy water.
Arthur hoped he didn't fidget, that would only cause a mess.
As he scrubbed the sponge through Alfred's blond hair, he began to hum a song his crew often sang in the middle of the day. It was know all throughout the seas, even to that Spanish scum. It was what kept the seas alive, the song with gave such an eerie and musky scenario a home-y feeling.
"Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me. . " he mumbled, using the famous line which so many people failed to see the truth behind.
Being a pirate wasn't all just fun and games, raiding ships and becoming wealthy. To be a pirate, one must shed blood for their desires, to show through the mocking red liquid that you can truly handle the life at sea. Greed, power, lucky, these were all necessary if you did not want to get pummeled out here.

Arthur still couldn't believe he brought Alfred into this world. He wasn't suppose to do this, Alfred should be at home, playing with his toys. . But that face. There was only so much England could handle.
Well, there was no room for feeling regret, his job now as to protect him. . .

Alfred's expression brightened considerably the second he caught the small change in his caretaker's face that said the young colony had once again gotten his way. Not to say that Alfred always got what he wanted with Arthur. The Brit was actually quite strict and authorative, being a pirate and all. Alfred had just been learning over time that there were ways he could get passed that, one being certain facial expressions.

Alfred grinned, hugging his father figure's legs tightly before moving back and lifting his arms so that England could remove his shirt. He could do it himself, and he'd told England himself many times before, but it looked to him that England liked doing it for him, so he let him. Anything for Arthur, so if Arthur said this was the last time they'd have a bath together then he'd agree...until next time when he'd once again try his hardest to convince the Nation to bathe with him like they always did.

"Okay Arthur." He agreed, nodding and believing he would follow along with his usual plan, until England decided to add something to his usual speech about Alfred being a big boy. Alfred's eyes widened. Heroes didn't have baths with the people they loved? That was horrible! It was so much fun! But if that was the truth then Alfred would have to do the same. After all, if he didn't take baths on his own he would never be a hero, and if he didn't become a hero he wouldn't be able to protect Arthur like he promised them both he would.

He looked back up at Arthur, disappointed that this would be their last bath together, but knowing it was a sacrifice he had to make for his father Nation as he was relieved of the rest of his clothing. He all but forgot about this however, once he was placed in the large tub, the older Nation sinking in beside him. He giggled softly as Arthur began washing him, running the soapy sponge through his hair, and played with the bubbles left from the soap in the water.

When England began singing he looked up curiously, recognizing the song of course, but also realizing that the man had drifted off into thought and wasn't paying much attention to his colony anymore. Alfred pouted, not liking this new turn of events, especially considering this was their very last bath before Alfred began his true hero journey. Making up his mind, Alfred lifted his hand as high and he could and brought it crashing back into the water in the unsuspecting Nation's direction, promptly splashing him for his crime.
