I found it unusual that Modest Mouse recorded and toured with Johnny Marr (guitarist of The Smiths fame) during the We Were Dead Before The Ship Sank sessions, considering the age and style gap between his work with The Smiths and Modest Mouse's music.
Can't complain, though. I think Johnny Marr is a very good musician and I'm a bit of a Smiths fan myself. I'm just curious about people's thoughts on Johnny Marr, his work with Modest Mouse, and The Smiths.

I'm not a big fan of The Smiths, nor am I very familiar with them, but I love We Were Dead and I know Johnny Marr had many contributions to the album. I wish I was a bit more educated on The Smiths and Johnny Marr's achievements

I wish I was a bit more educated on The Smiths and Johnny Marr's achievements I think they're a band worth checking out. Most people will tell you that their best album is The Queen Is Dead, but my personal favorite is Meat Is Murder. Really, their body of work is pretty consistent overall. I have all their albums and I can't say I dislike any of them.

The Smiths are amazing, in my opinion. I think Marr is one of the best guitarists in the world, haha. It would be way cool if he was a permanent member of Modest Mouse, rather than just touring for one album. sad
