 Vampire. A lot of things come to mind when one hears that word now a days. Bloodsucker. Demon. Edward Cullen. Bats, fangs, and gallons of blood. Bodies drained of all blood with only two punctrue wounds to the neck. It's different Here.Welcome to Tanick Island home of the vampires. In 2028 the waters of the Pacific Ocean receeded to reveal an under water island that was 109 miles long and 50 miles wide. Located at the Equator or 0 degrees longitude and 120 degrees lattitude. The United States quickly claimed the island and started turning it into a habital place. On July 6, 3000 a new type of snake was discovered in the Amazon Rain Forest. It was called the Eternal Emeral Emperor viper and was about two feet long. It had a curious venom. It killed it's prey which consisted of small rodents, lizards, frogs, birds, and some insects, but when it bit one of the researchers they didn't die. Instead he went through a change. He became a vampire.Of course this didn't happen overnight. It took five years for the change to be complete. The rest of the researchers took specimens back to the states. There three others were bit and and experiment was begun. Over the next five years these people became vampires. They were incredibley strong, fast, and agile. They were also beautiful in a way. The only major difference was that when the change was complete they all had white hair, dark gray skin, gold eyes, and pointed ears. Like this. One of the four died during the change. During the autopsy to discover the reason for his death it was discovered that his body had rejected the change. The three remaining test subjects were put on the island that that the U.S. had claimed. The vampires called it Tanick Island. Fifteen more joined them and they steadily grew. Now, in 3019, the village the first three had created contains 54 inhabitants. A few of the vipers that create vampirism live on the island. In each year of the change one or two things happen. Year one the eyes and ears change. Year two the skin changes. Year three the hair changes. Year four the fangs and bloodlust develop. Year five the mucsles develop. Through out the whole change the young vampires are taught control by their mentors.
Nef is a young vampire in his second year of he change. His eyes haven't changed to gold yet and remain their deep green. He and his mentor Z live together like every mentor and fledgling does. Nef thinks of Z as a father figure, but Z thinks of Nef as more than a son. While vampires believe in family love they do not believe in the love humans share with their mates. So what happens when the mentor loves the fledgling, but must hide it? What happens when the mentor begins to show his affections after a year together?

My Past: When I was human, my parents volenteered me for to become a vampire. They didn't let it show and pretended other wise, but they found having me around wearysome. Thus when a government official came with one of the vipers, my parents volenteered me and I was bite. I was then taken to Shore Village on Tanick Island. I met my mentor and have been living with him. We are entering the second year of my change and our second year together.
Every thing else is mentioned above or will be revealed in the story.

Bite me I am: Seme My Past: When I graduated high-school, some government officials were there looking for volunteers to join in an experiment of some kind. They said that you'd be set for life if you agreed. I was one of the guys who quickly signed up for it...they neglected to say what the experiment entailed.. but it was too late by then to back out. I lived with my mentor for the duration of my changes and now have one of my own to instruct. We've lived together for two years now. In the mirror I look:

Nef
Nef yawned as he woke up to the sounds of birds chirping. No one else was up yet. Most of the villagers didn't like being up during the day and though the light hurt his eyes Nef loved it. So he woke up every morning. He smiled and laid in bed for a moment longer before he rolled out of bed and made his bed. He opened his black out curtains and blinked as the bright sun light spilled into his room. He smiled at the sight of the light mottled tree houses.
He whistled softly and a bright green viper about five inches long appeared. "Morning Greene," he said softly as he picked the snake up and brought it into his room. He went to his dresser were he kept a small tank. He put Greene inside it and added a few crickets for him to eat before he went to the bathroom to get ready.
The viper was his pet in a way. Some of the snakes took a likeing to certain young fledglings and vampires. There was a rumor going around among the fledglings that if you took care of a viper you would make it through the change. So when Nef found one in his bed one day he had happily started taking care of it. Not only did he want to make it through the change, but he also had always wanted a pet. So when the snake chose him he had happily accepted.
Once he had gone through his morning routine he checked on Greene who was chilling out in his tank. Smiling he went to his master's room to wake him up. He had been waking the man up for the past year. He opened his master's curtains first and let the bright light in. That done he shook his master's shoulder.
"Master Lief. Master Lief, it's time to wake up," he told his master. He hoped the man would be easy to wake up this morning. He never knew what his master might do before he opened his eyes.

((heehee... Damn.. i just realized that because this isn't my laptop I cant paste his post template[which i just love]... I will have to add it in this afternoon...For now it will look plain and ugly)) The how I can't recall
But I'm staring at what once was the wall

Now they meet amidst the broad daylight
~ So this is where you are, and this is where I am ~ Lief groaned as the first ray of light hit his face when his fledgling opened the curtains in his room. He turned his face into the pillow, something he'd done since long before his change. He felt his shoulder being shaken and groaned again.
Then a wicked idea popped into his head. He grinned and grabbed the hand on his shoulder, pulling it and the body it was attached to, onto his bed. He wrapped his arms around the younger, physically and change-wise, male's waist.
"Lets sleep a little longer, 'kay Neffu-kun?" He purred into the boys ear. Teasing the boy this way was rather amusing, he'd found.
A warning hiss sounded near his head, close to where Nef had landed, and he opened pure gold eyes to see his snake, Tsubasa, glaring at him as well as any snake could glare. He'd almost squashed her under Nef. "Gomen, Tsubasa-chan!" He cooed to her and reached his other arm out to stroke her head.
She gave him a gesture that resembled a 'hmph', then, communicating with a gesture, told him that she was hungry. He groaned and let go of Nef, then went to feed her before she got really angry with him. Rather than grasshoppers, he fed her a little grayish-white mouse he'd found recently.
Done with feeding/appeasing his friend/pet, Lief turned back to Nef. "Well, what should we do today then, Neffu-kun?" His Japanese accent was always more pronounced in the morning or whenever he just wakes up. + Somewhere between unsure and a hundred + It's hard I must confess
I'm banking on the rest to clear away

((Forgive the previous post. Gaia is acting weird for me today and I accidentally hit submit.))
Even though he had been expecting something, Nef still gave a shout of surprise as he was pulled onto the bed next to his mentor. He felt arms around his waist and knew the wasn't going to get away (the older was much, much stronger than him) , but still he squirmed.
He blushed faintly as Lief spoke into his ear. "L-Lief! Let go!" he said. A hiss by his head made him look up at his mentor's snake, Tsubasa. He gave a sigh of relief and got up once Lief had let go of him. He stretched and watched as Lief fed his snake. Finally the man turned back to him.
"Swimming!!" he said instantly. He loved the feel of the ocean water or any water for that matter on his skin. Then he thought about it a bit more. "OR we can skip lessons and go to Japan," he said. He grinned. Which ever one was okay by him. He loved swimming and traveling. So far he hadn't been to Japan yet.
((Going to the carnaval today at 5. Don't know when I will return. Probably when I run out of tickets. XD))

~ So this is where you are, and this is where I am ~ He grimaced at the idea of swimming in the bright sunlight, though had it been over-cast or even rainy, then he would have jumped at the idea. He pondered the other idea, not really having a problem with it... since he really didn't feel like giving another lecture on adapting to the changes that would be experienced this year, or the years to come before the changes were done.
He hoped that the boy's eyes would remain that glorious, deep green color. It would be a shame for them to lose that unique beauty. His eyes were a dark blue-black shade like his hair before his changes. The eyes had changed in his first year, and there was only a slight hint of their original coloring left.
His hair, which was actually long at the back, held up in a samurai-ponytail, and had a single streak of blueish-black hair. It was the only piece of himself that remained of his old life as a human, high school graduate. He missed Japan, to be honest.
"Sounds like a good idea... would you like to come along, Tsubasa-chan?" He asked his now-fed viper. "You can bring Greene-kun as well.. just don't let him bite anyone. It will fall on my shoulders should a human get bitten by accident." + Somewhere between unsure and a hundred + It's hard I must confess

Nef pouted a bit when Lief grimaced, guessing that swimming was out and most likely traveling to Japan as well. He was interested in Japan. When he and Lief had first met he had asked him about where he had come from before he was changed.
Nef had come from America. San Diego, California to be exact. His love of swimming had come from nearby pools and beach trips. His parents never bothered installing a pool even though they had had plenty of space. He wasn't even out of high school yet when his parents volenteered him. Actually he was both glad and sad to be away from them. Sad because well they were his family. Glad because they had never really cared for him.
When his mentor agreed to travel to Japan he smiled brightly. "Really? Great I'll go pack!" he said as he went back to his room. He looked over his shoulder at the snake bite comment. "Don't worry. I'll milk his venom. That way even if he does bite no one will change," he said. He disappeared into his room.
Once in his room he paused for a moment. He hadn't touched his suit cases since he had arrived on the island. He smirked and then set about packing.
While he was packing he remembered one of the history lessons he had recieved about the island. He had actually been told this by one of the first three. The vampire was forty seven now though he still looked to be in his twenties. Note: Perk to being a vampire. You age slower. It happens at different rates, but no vampire actually looks their age. Fledglings grow as normal, but once they reach maturity(ages 18-20) they age slower.
At any rate at one time vampires were completely isolated from the rest of society, but then after about five years the vampires wouldn't let the human government officials set foot on the island. So they let the vampires travel around in exchange for humans being able to come to the island. The vampires agreed, but only on the contitions that the government pays for their travels and that only a few humans were allowed on the island at a time and absolutely none were to set foot in the village. Both parties in agreement it was made into a law. The only written law for vampires. For some odd reason though humans don't like coming to the island, but the vampires have been enjoying their side of the deal.
"I should get Kyouhei, Alex, and Zar a souviner while we're there, huh Greene?" he asked his snake. He finished packing what he would need in about a half hour. His luggage consisted of a bag of clothes, a razor and shaving cream, and a bag of pet supplies. Oh and a extra pair of shoes and a bit of cash from when he had first arrived. Then of course he he had Greene on his shoulder. The snake would hide in his hair when it came time to board. The snake didn't like the pet hold.
((I am back and can't edit my posts so it will be like this till I can. I came back around 8 pm. I was lonely most of the time, sister ditched me and I was alone most of the time. I met a few friends but that was it.))

~ So this is where you are, and this is where I am ~ Lief chuckled at the enthusiasm Nef had for the sudden trip they were going on. He would act as tour guide for the younger male, since he'd lived in Osaka since he was little, and Tokyo before that.
He packed a few things for himself, including a simple summer yukata. If he remembered right, there should be a festival going on the day after they arrived. He would likely need to get one for Nef, since the boy was American and wouldn't have one of his own.
Tsubasa hissed in reply to his question, a 'yes', before slithering up the arm he held out and settling around his neck. All-in-all she looked rather like some sort of gaudy accessory. He also took what money he had left of when he was human (having gone to visit the rest of the world once with his master while he was still a fledgling).
"I'll go tell the village leaders that we will be leaving for about a week.. would that be okay with you?" He asked in regards to the duration of their visit 'outside'. "Would you meet me at the Docks?" He asked Nef as he stood at the door to the other's bedroom, watching the boy pack for the trip. + Somewhere between unsure and a hundred + It's hard I must confess

Lief had been so immersed in his packing that he hadn't noticed when Lief came in. He looked over at his door way and saw his master standing there. He nodded and did an okay sign with his right hand to show that a week was good and then checked his bags to make sure that he had everything that he needed for a week. He had everything.
Standing he hauled his gym bag of clother over his right shoulder so the strap when across his chest. Over his back when his book bag of pet supplies (Crickets and a small tank.). He had books and a blanket packed in there as well to protect the tank since it was glass.
Greene poked his head out of Nef's hair and hissed that he was ready as well then he went back to hiding. Nef chuckled at the feeling of the snake curling up in his hair. It tickled him. He faced his mentor with a smile.
"I'll go there now Sensai~" he sang. He had picked up a few Japanese words from TV before he came. Though he had yet to call Lief sensai, Nef thought it might be fun to call him that while they were in Japan. He thought it might make his teacher happy. He left the room, easily slipping past Lief even with his load. Once clear he ran for the Docks, blinking in the bright light of the day. He ran back and got a hat before going back out side. He crammed it over his head (much to Greene's displeasure) and dashed for the Docks.

~ So this is where you are, and this is where I am ~ He nodded in reply...a little surprised to hear Nef call him 'sensei'...though oddly happy about it. He watched in amusement as the boy left the house only to return moments later to grab a hat to shield his eyes from the light.
He grabbed one for himself and followed after his fledgling, bags for the trip easily carried by the fully-changed vampire. He headed for the house in which he was most likely to find the leaders. Sure enough there were two of them there when he knocked. They exchanged greetings, and he informed them of his decision to take the fledgling he was in charge of to Tokyo, Japan for the next week.
"Our snakes, Tsubasa and Greene will be joining us, wo there is no need to ask for someone to look after them while we are away. I will also make sure that no human is bitten by our snakes." After receiving permission for his plans, Lief bid the Elders goodbye for the week and headed to the dock, which made the occasional trip to the mainlands of either North America(as in the US) or Japan.. which was an island country but still considered a mainland.
The ship was ready by the time he got there, and he could see his excited fledgling waiting almost impatiently for him. He chuckled as he walked up to the boy and ruffled his hair affectionately.
"You ready to go then, are you?" He continued walking onto the ship before Nef had a chance to reply or react to his earlier gesture. "Isoide." He called in that joking manner he often used around the younger vampire. + Somewhere between unsure and a hundred + It's hard I must confess

((*blinks* I did didn't I? XD Oh well. Where do I live? A little place called Gettysburg, PA. Three Day Carnival!!!!!! On the last night there's fire works. *nods* So where do you live that has carnivals that only last a day?))
Both he and his snake hissed when Lief ruffled Nef's hair. Greene because well he was being squished. Nef because his hair was getting messed up under his hat. An irritated little snake slithered out from under Nef's hat and glared at Lief's back. Glaring as well Nef boarded the ship.
Nef soon was smiling as he looked around the ship. He raced up to Lief and dropped his bags into the older's hands before racing away laughing. "Take care of the bags for me please?! Thank you!!!" he said. He dashed to the front of the ship and climbed over the railing. He seated himself on the railing and looked out over the water at the front of the ship.
Grinning he got Greene on his hand and showed him the view. "Take a look Greene! Cool, huh?!" he said. Greene looked around, hissed, and slithered of Nef's coat sleeve. Smirking Nef shrugged it off and hung it on the rail. Greene looked at him and wrapped around his wrist a bit more tightly. He looked like some kind of bracelet. Shirtless, Nef leaned back a bit and closed his eyes, just listening to the sounds of the water.
"Vacation here we come!!!" he said happily.
