Roused from disturbing dreams, Zack blinked his eyes open slowly, as the wind howled around him. Glancing at Angel and Arseus atop the stone den, he was surprised to see that his own pup, Ashy, hadn't wandered off during the night, and was still curled warmly at his side. Smiling slightly down at her, he nudged the top of her head with his cold nose in a loving gesture. When she didn't stirr, Zack rose to his feet, stretched quietly, and, glancing at Angel to see that she hand't caught him leaving, took a little walk, sighing, as memories of Paine flowed through his mind. He was happy for Angel, but that didn't change what he had said about Paine, and that it had hurt her. Shaking his head sadly, he went to the borders, to find a sleeping Wolf. He trod past Wolf without noticing he was there, with his eyes locked on the ground as he wandered the pack boundaries.

It had been awhile since Hexa had seen the moonlight pack. When she first came to the area she could barely remember talking to someone, but it seemed like ancient history, plus she had made many mistakes. She didn't have much pride left in her, but she did hold some anger and fear left. It seemed the god of fear did his duty with her. Eventually she noticed a wolf in the distance. She crouched down into a defensive position not sure who it was plus she wasn't in the mood for a thrashing like most wolves would do to her. "Who-who's there?" She called out normally, but it wasn't aggressive.

Ears flicking, Zack could have sworn he had heard someone calling out to him - the voice of a female. He was glad that Ashy was still at the den with the rest of the pack and not wandering about - who knew if this wolf was hostile or not? Looking around with twitching whiskers, Zack caught a flash of pink, and started for the sound, "I am Zack Fair. Beta of the pack Moonlight - these are the borders. You would be?" there was only a warm, friendly curiosity in his voice as he kept a decent distance away from her; not enough to be rude or offensive, but enough room for strangers to peacably greet one another..

Hexa cocked her head to the side. She wasn't in a bad mood today unless he would threaten her. "I-I'm Hexa. I've seen your pack before. I just came back...I don't mean harm. I met someone originally...I can't remember her name, but she was a red wolf about a childs age." She lightly bowed. "I'm sorry if I'm causing a disturbance." She smacked her head for a second disgusted with herself. That's a good way to start the conversation Hexa, she said to herself.

Intriqued that she had been here before, Zack tilted his head - why hadn't he seen her in that case? Though at the mention of a red child, a wide smile broke out across Zack's face, "Ashy," he called, refreshing her memory. "That's my pup - she's sleeping peacefully now.." With a chuckle, the black wolf asked, "I assume you met her on one of her late-night adventures?" Suddenly Zack's head tilted the other direction, "Disturbance?" Letting out another laugh, he shook his head, "Everyone's asleep - the only disturbance here is huanted thoughts,".

Hexa blinked a bit surprised. "That sounds familiar actually." She pondered for a moment. "I see...I just...don't know what to think anymore honestly. I hate to say this and I know this is going to sound pathetic, but I think...I just hate myself right now and..." She stopped for a moment with an actual sad look in her face. "I...was stupid to let someone use me."

As she struggled with her words, her final thought had reminded him of Angeal and he frowned a little. "Haunted thoughts indeed..." he murmured, feeling very sad for her as his own memories of his mentor flooded his mind. They were all used as experiments, back at ShinRa...Shaking himself of the memory, "You should never hate yourself, though it's...quite easy to do sometimes..." he followed up, showing he understood, "I watched my...the woman I love die...and I couldn't do a damn thing to stop it!" he bit himself with the sharpness of his words. "Other wolves, they can...they can be so very cruel. They only want a means to their own end. Nothing more." he looked at her sadly, padding closer for the comfort and benefit of the two of them.
((Mind if I throw in Rayne, who would probably have heard all of this commotion?))

Hexa was surprised that this wolf didn't tell her to suck it up and just deal with it. All her life she had gotten flogged or beaten if she complained just once. It normally wasn't like her to let out so much info, but she was a bit desperate. "I see..." She looked down at her paws. "Do you think we'll learn from this? I hate being so weak and I'm sure you don't like the idea of it either." She looked back up at Zack. "At least you have a nice pack you can depend on." It might of looked strange, but Hexa smiled a bit at Zack happy for him.
((It's fine by me))

Zack felt a little bit ashamed of his outburst, he didn't usually snap like that, whether it was directed or not. Her question caught him off guard, and he pondered thoughtfully for a moment. "I....We've got to, right? Life's all about learning." at her comment on being weak, he shook his head passionately, "No. You are not weak, and neither am I." he concluded with finality, "Some things, just can't be stopped, or prevented. No matter how much we wish we can rewrite the past.." his eyes glazed over briefly, as though he was trapped in a memory, "We just can't. And we can't beat ourselves up over it, or feel weak, because..." it was clear he didn't believe his own words: he would always beat himself up for Paine's death, and he was powerless to stop it. Did that mean he was weak? Probably.
Rayne listened to her foster-father speak with sad eyes from the shadows, her wings pinned to her sides. As he struggled with his words, Rayne stepped in shyly to finish his sentence, her voice deep, gentle, and unfaltering. "What's done is done, and we were powerless to stop it. If we had had the change, we would have. But, we didn't." she looked from the new wolf kindly to her Fa, "Isn't that right, Fa?" she approached him and nuzzled under his neck, "If you had the chance, you would have saved her. Just like you saved Ashy." she whispered, then took her attention to this new wolf, "You could, too, if you wanted. Have a pack to depend on, I mean." Rayne offered, glancing for a moment at Zack, but knowing that if he wasn't so disheartened, he would have said the same.

Hexa listened to them with intent. "I see..." She went quiet for a while taking in all that was said. "I actually used to have a pack I depended on, but it got wiped out when we refused to make a certain sacrifice." She looked at them both. "I originally came from a dark shamanic wolf tribe that worshipped the god of darkness known as Erebos." She looked down. "I don't have any ties with him anymore, but I still know dark and black magic if that doesn't cause issues."

Rayne's interest was piqued at the mention of her God, "Hey, I've....heard of him." she fought to get the excitement out of her voice. She knew some of the same teachings, but, Zack didn't know that...Actually, only Angel probably knew that. "I'm sorry about your pack...But..." she gave another glance at Zack, who finished for her. "But you did the right thing." Rayne nodded in agreement, then padded a little closer to Hexa, "My name's Rayne: my mother taught me some magic as well, though not all of it was dark. I think you'd make a good pack-mate, if I must say." she gave Hexa a warm smile. "And besides." Zack started, "It's how you use what you know that defines you, not the fact that you know it." he followed suit in her smile; Rayne was always able to cheer him up. She was so much like her mother...."We would be honored if you would join our pack."

Hexa was a bit surprised that they wouldn't turn her away for being one who used magic that would cause excruciating pain to others at the possibility of it. Not many wolves she met tended to not trust her because of it. She went to open her mouth, but didn't know exactly what to say. "Sure..." Hexa muttered out, but what else could she say? "Would it pose a problem if I brought the two kids I did have with me as well into the pack? I don't think they should grow up without some sort of parental figure."

Thinking of Ashy, Zack couldn't help but laugh and nod, "Of course! It takes a village to raise a pup." he cast his eyes back to the where he assumed his puppy would be, and sure enough, Ashy had stirred. He could tell this based upon the fact that a heartbroken, searching howl rose into the night, and he said to Hexa, "You're absolutely right: all pups need a parent." He began to make off in the direction of the howl, but soon a red and black bundle of fur went tumbling into the clearing.
"Faaaaa!!!" Ashy whined in a high pitch, headbutting his foreleg once she gained her balance once again. Whining at the thought of losing her Fa, she sat up and pouted at him. Soon, however, she saw a shock of pink, and all was forgotten. Her ears flicked as she stared at Hexa, tilting her head one way, then the other. "H...H...Hexa!" She yipped, prancing over to the adult with a grin. "On another adventure?" Ashy grinned up at the wolf, tail wagging lazily.

Hexa was surprised when she saw the pup come running. She looked familiar in so many ways. It had been a long time since she had last seen Ashy and it was when she was more confused. However, she felt more relaxed than what she had been. "Well I think I'm adventured out for now. I did do some exploring of lands and areas, but I have some kids to raise now..." She looked down at the ground for a moment not sure if she should be explaining that it was a big accident, because she didn't want to make her kids feel like they were unwanted, but she despised the father even if he was a god for using her like that. "Would you guys like to meet them? I'll bring them back here if you wish."
