Bonjour! Je m'appelle EleanorRigby1. Je suis vous maîtresse.*

If you cannot tell, you are in French Lessons. Fantastique! I'm so happy if you decide to continue on learning.

You will learn French the way I did. I am teaching from my own knowledge and my college textbook. I am concentrating on writing activities in my lessons, but I do hope you will start speaking. While you are learning to write and speak French, you will also be exposed to different cultural aspects of the French and Francophone Countries all over the world.

I am currently in the process of finding the film, <>. And once I find it, I will post links to watch each episode.

Feel free to post now. Thank you very much.

*I only use maîtresse because this is beginning French. As the lessons go on, I will be addressed as the higher terms. (ex: ta institutrice; and I will use the more familiar ta.)

Any experience is French? I've dabbled a little bit here and there, but essentially none. I understand some of the basics of pronunciation, but haven't gotten much further than that.
What should we know about you? I've studied Spanish for seven years, so I'll recognize some cognates from there.

L'alphabet français (The French Alphabet)

The French Alphabet has 26 letters, just as English does. There are five certain accents to go over some letters, or under them.

Happily, my book has given me a good way to explain how to pronounce the letters. This is also where I will introduce each accent and a few other words involved in spelling. Again, if anyone has a better way to write the pronunciation, then please, let me know, I would be so happy to have your help.

Aa - a (ah)
Bb - bé (beh)
Cc - cé (seh)
Dd - dé (deh)
Ee - e (oo)
Ff - effe (effe)
Gg - gé (geh)
Hh - hache (ashe)
Ii - i (ee)
Jj - ji (jee)
Kk - ka (kah)
Ll - elle (elle)
Mm - emme (emme)
Nn - enne (enne)
Oo - o (oh)
Pp - pé (peh)
Qq - ku (ku)
Rr - erre (erre)
Ss - esse (esse)
Tt - té (teh)
Uu - u (u)
Vv - vé (veh)
Ww - double vé (doub-le veh)
Xx - iks (iks)
Yy - i grec (ee-grek)
Zz - zède (zed)

This is a great resource for learning to type out the accents.

á - accent aigu (ex: éléphant)
à - accent grave (ex: scène)
â - accent circonflexe (ex: dîner)
ç - cé cédille (ex: français)
ä - tréma (ex: Noël)

Words for spelling:
Majuscule - uppercase
Minuscule - lowercase
Apostrophe - apostrophe
Trait d'union - hyphen

Note on speaking: Remember for ending consonants, if it is a C, F, L, or R, then it is pronounced (besides certain exceptions). So always be CRFL with pronunciation. : D

Teacher's Notes: (Please Read!)

I've been a tad busy lately, so I haven't been able to do any more work here. If you all have any information you'd like to add, meaning easy words and such, or days of the week, then feel free. Also go ahead and make your own lessons if you wish.

Signed,

Bonjour.

Any experience is French? Very little. I studied it a bit when I was younger, but I had to stop and I now wish to pick it up again.
What should we know about you? I live in Japan, keep weird hours, and I am getting ready to kill myself with too many AP classes as soon as school starts back up. xd
