Love is not a question of when and where. Who and how. What and why. It is the makings of those questions. Love is a flower, lying in patient wait to bloom and forever be beautiful. But with beauty and passion comes a cost for such a tainted rose. Colors will fade, petals will fall. All we know is that it can be denied nurture, and it will still be a flower. Always. So who will be the gardener?

Life is rough sometimes, as flowers have their thorns, and for [-X-], it doesn't look like its going to get any better. As a sixteen year old orphan with an empty past, [-X-] doesn't feel like he's going anywhere, and when he is suddenly adopted by two wealthy Americans, he's sure Hell has come his way. They're nice enough people from what he's heard. He's never actually met them. But the day comes when he is forced by the Dean of his orphanage home to pack his few belongings and say goodbye for the rest of his life. Upon arriving, they are everything he expected and is sure he'll never want; none the less he sucks it up and pulls through. But then someone else enters. It's the family gardener, one with a daring glint in his eye and a passion for flowers. And other things.

[-X-] can't help but follow this one with his heart, as he seems to be the only one who understands him, but there are many social and parental walls blocking their path to love. Who will be the gardener for their relationship so that they may flourish in their own Eden?

-Profiles-

My Gardener: TrueTeargem
Eden is Jealous: Denver Fife
How Many Petals: 24
Back to a Seed: Raised by his aunt, he wanted to travel the world, but instead found himself as a gardener for the highest payer. His work is admired widely and he's well off, though sometimes bills can stack up. Little else is known about him or his family's origins and at times may seem hesitant to answer any questions on such.
Stinging Nettles or Rosemary: He is good natured at heart and has a passion for what he does, though sometimes he is too mischievious and there is a spicy attitude behind his always smiling face. It's no secret he likes to tease and flirt. Though he seems to be friendly to all his employers and is a faithful worker, his trust runs only skin deep and he isn't often willing to be outright and honest.
Roses are Red: flowers (obviously), pizza, the outdoors, travelling, and collecting books.
Violets are Blue: smoking, alcohol (but he's no sour-puss at that), rare meat and wasabi.
When you peal my petals away: Seme
Pull the Leaves Back:

My Gardener: Hysteric_balloon_juice
Eden is Jealous: Akemi
How Many Petals: Sixteen
Back to a Seed: Akemi has had a difficult past. He never truly had any friends, for he never spoke up. Growing up, he thought life was a living Hell and wondered why he was still there. Soon, he started to fade away to the very back to avoid attachments and relations that he thought would never work out to begin with.
Stinging Nettles or Rosemary: Akemi decided that he should never let himself get attached to one person or persons, for he feels as tho he might be sent away. He is rather sweet, obedient, and very helpful when it comes down to it. He sticks to what he knows and what he doesn't, he learns. It is hard to get him to trust you completely, but once you do, he can be the best friend you ever had.
Roses are Red: Scenery, Animals, Painting, Fruit (preferably Strawberries and Pineapples)
Violets are Blue: Drugs, Having to meet new people (except Denver of course)
When You Peal My Petals Away: Uke
Pull the Leaves Back:

((And your writing should be in a nice dark blue or something that doesn't hurt my eyes.))

Houses lined the walks, half-ways, browstones and apartment buildings, crammed together like a giant multicolored caterpillar on the streets of the drabbest looking plant-life imaginable. Out the car window it was definitely not the brightest looking place to live, and not eventful by any means.
Akemi was currently in limbo between the old orphanage where he used to be homed and the new house where he was being sold off to. The town around the mansion where was to be dropped off at was exactly as described before: drab. But as they ascended up the road and docked, the view became much more pleasant. Large groves of trees and flowers flourished from the lush grasses, the house itself a splendor in its finest glory.

When all of his belongings parted ways from him and he was led by a maid to a large, light filled entrance room, two people came into view. His new parents.

"Akemi!" the first chirped, the one to be his new mom. She and her husband stood side by side, eyes alight, though they did not come forward until their new son had passed the front rug. They just stood, arms folded, and smiled at him, apparently not moving to hug him or swath him in any fiercly physical affections.

New Parents
PostPosted: Sun Jun 20, 2010 9:33 pm

((Oh my apologies and would you prefer that I post the picture in every post or not?))

Akemi had been drawn in by the flourishing and dew draped plants that bloomed from the fresh grass. Reminiscence of the woods came to his mind and he sighed. What would his new 'parents' be like. His silent question was soon answered as they approached the house and ascended up the glorious stairs to the room, Akemi was at a loss for words. Upon being greeted by his new parents, he bowed to them both and then looked directly down, avoiding eye contact. "Hello. I presume you are my new parents? I'll do my best to please you." he said in a rather polite manner, remembering what the Orphanage had told him about his manners.

His eyes darted across the gorgeous room, filled with so many valuables. It made him feel small somehow. As if everything had a greater value than he. "Is there anything I can do for you at this moment? Such as cooking or cleaning?" he then remembered that the maids were probably off doing those things already. Shaking his head, he sighed lightly, feeling useless in this huge house. What would he do if they had gotten tired of him?He would just do as they instructed, no questions asked.

((It'd be nice, but you don't have to.))

"Oh, you're sweet!" His mother said in a cheery tone, one that sounded both business like and a little too sugary. Her husband tilted his head, still smiling.

"No need to be so direct, son, go ahead and let yourself be comfortable. Our house, now yours, is big and full of fun things to do. You're mother and I are here for you." he said, his tone that of a politition, though his squinty smile was rather offsetting. The man was a lawer, as it were.

"Now, I'm Julia, and this is Robert." his mother introduced. "Welcome. Welcome." She reached out finally and pat his hair, then rubbed his cheek a bit. During this, out of the corner of everyone's vision, the sliding glass door to the garden opened and quite a dirty character walzed in, flowerpot in hand with a scarlet lily. He set it on a rickety spindle perch, dusting the large amounts of dirt off his hands as his eyes stared at the plant in an observant way, before realizing what a mess he was making on the floor. He quickly went to kick it under the front rug, glancing around. He caught sight of the newcomer.

Staring at the three's conversation, the new man, who was dressed in a pair of slip-off overalls and a sunhat that actually looked quiet flattering over his moonbeam colored hair, busied himself with pruning the plant. He looked suspiciously like he was eavesdropping, though his hands worked on the plant as if they didn't need him to think about it at all.

"...And that maid is Ohm. If you have any questions, ask her." The mother, Julia, was saying. Then she noticed the plant-man and looked at the lily with a crucial eye. "Very good, Mr. Fife." she said, but pointed her finger over towards the corner. "But I don't like it there. Put it by the den, will you?"

The "Mr. Fife" nodded and picked the load up, walking right past them to place it where directed. When he'd finished, she nodded at the adjustment and returned to look at Akemi, her bubbly face back on. "That's our gardener, Mr. Fife. He'll be here three days a week, in the garden, and I'm sure he'd appreciate his privacy for work." Fife gave a short wave and returned to his work, this time seriously. When Julia said she had to go ready the room again, Robert patted Akemi's shoulder in a fatherly way.

"You'll like it here." He said. In the corner, Mr. Fife smiled knowingly.

Akemi noticed the man that he quickly identified as the gardener, a few moments before they were introduced. Akemi gave the 'Mr. Fife' fellow a small nod of the head and turned to look back at his new parents. He looked up at his mother, feeling her hand brush over hit head. As the two walked away, Akemi brought his attention back over to Mr. Fife. "You know eavesdropping isn't very polite. May I ask your first name, Mr. Fife?" he inquired and turned his body fully around to face the one to whom he spoke.

Akemi was all but froze, finding himself being taken with the man's appearance. His eyes hadn't once strayed from the man's unique eyes. They were a color that was indescribable. Finding that his cheeks had warmed up, he averted his gaze and occupied himself with gliding his fingers over the glossy petals of the centerpiece. "I'm Akemi..." he stated in a soft tone of voice. He glanced once more at his becoming features.

User ImageWith the two parents and leaders of the household gone, Mr. Fife relaxed a bit, though one could see he was already quite a calm person. At least, he appeared to be. With a vanishing smile, perfecting hands, tall, lean and swaying body, and a feather light touch for things plantesic, Mr. Fife gave off the vibe of calm. Good natured. Gentle. Silent. However, he was only one. It became obvious which when he did not answer Akemi at first, instead deciding to fiddle with the pair of leather gloves in his back pocket.

After addressing them, the man lifted his clearwater eyes from his work, head tilted a bit, and observed the newest piece to the Tower family collection. Of course, a child would better their image, wouldn't it? Show a little life in this place beside their expensive furniture and unbelievable, and uncomparable he flattered himself, flowers. If Julia could have children, he was sure she'd be a blimp by now, hungrily feeding the presentable article, all the while knowing that it was going to bring her press ears and eyes of adoring un-friends. It's not like the Towers' had real friends anyway, not with their money. They hardly had time. What were they thinking, adopting a kid? Fife shook his head, lost in his thoughts, but realized that he was supposed to be answering a question.

"Denver." he said, breaking the terribly long silence. "My name is Denver Fife. Not Mr. Denver, or Mr. Fife." he added. "The only time I use Mr. is during my tax returns." He strode across the large, and quite lonesome, entrance hall and went out the glass door again. It was left open, inviting the boy to follow. Denver didn't mind. He never minded company and it was a chance to scope this boy's future misery out ahead of time. So when Akemi did in fact follow, as he knew the boy would, the gardener was crouched in a collection of bagonias, a pair of sheers in his hands.

Clip Clip Clip Clip

"I wasn't eavesdropping; that's up to the maids." He said suddenly, bringing up a topic that seemed to be in the catacombs at this point. Clip. He observed. Clip clip. Glancing up at the young boy before him, he analyzed again. The boy had to be no older than sixteen, well, seventeen or so. A good height for his age, something Denver figured a few girls around the high school in town would fondle over, make them bat their eyelashes. His eyes, Akemi's, were a wonderful blue, something that reminded him of the rare blue roses he was growing in his backyard greenhouse. The golden and bullion locks that lay straight and orderly - and yet in a mess - framed his agile face, one Denver could see quite plainly held no joy here. Probably not for a long, long time, that face hadn't seen any true happiness.

This thought had the gardener stopping in his work, and he set his wrists on his propped knees, looking up at the boy from his crouch. "Where do you come from, Akemi? The orphanage around here? Is crabby Mrs. Burns still working there?"

"Yes she is... Well, Denver, you grow very beautiful flowers." he admired the flowers, only the slight glint of surprise in his blue eyes. They grazed over the vast rows of flowers but his eyes came to halt at the roses. They had always been his favorite, besides hydrangeas and dahlias. Walking over to the rose bed, he knelt down to take in there intoxicating scent. A soft smile appeared on his face as he looked at the different colors. " I know you would like to see this too... Mother... Father..." he mumbled softly, letting his fingers smooth over the petals of the roses.

After a few moments of pure silence, he turned and faced Denver. "Well I should leave you to your work." he got up and made his way back to the glass door, "It was nice meeting you." he commented before stepping inside the house and closing the screen door. Letting his thoughts roam for a moment, he decided that learning where everything in the house was would be best.

After finding the kitchen, he familiarized himself with the contents of every drawer and cabinet. "Now where to go...?" he then realized that he was lost in his new house. Adventuring further into the house, he found his way back to the den, which was full of more expensive things. Relaxing into the small couch, he curled onto his side, recapitulating his lonely life. Drifting to a deep sleep which he hoped lasted forever, he mumbled a few words before going into complete darkness.

User ImageDenver nodded, a fleeting smile meeting his lips. He liked this boy. He liked that the boy liked his roses. Normally it wouldn't do much for the solitary gardener, who grew plants for many people with much money and also many people without any money. They all appreciated them, but he found more interest with Akemi's curiosity. Perhaps it was what he knew of the boy, or maybe what they had in common. Anyways, he watched the boy go after giving a soft, "Thank you. It was nice to meet you as well, Akemi." and continued to prune the bagonias.

"Akemi? Akemi, what are you doing?" It was Julia's high voice that woke the boy hours later. She was shaking his shoulder, leaning over him. "We've been looking all over for you, where did you go? You cannot travant around the house, young man. Come now, dinner is ready." she stood straight, hands on her hips next to her cellphone and a beeper, one of which started ringing just then. Checking the number, she answered the cellphone, but first looking at Akemi. "Now, Maria the housekeeper will take you to the kitchen. Go on now." She strode out. "Hello? Yes, Mr. Burgess..."

Maria was standing near the den with a hand vaccume cleaner, getting rid of dirt that normal people wouldn't be able to spot, but the critical eye of Julia would. She spotted him as he came out, looking tired. "Come, come..." she said, her Soweto accent clear and her dark skin quite striking against the white household. "Your dinner ready, come, come."

Akemi rubbed his eyes, his vision blurry. Everything seemed to be brighter than before and it made his eyes burn slightly. As he was led to the kitchen, he let out a small yawn then stretched to wake up a bit more. "Thank you, Maria." he spoke in a groggy voice that was always heard when someone had just woken up. He cleared his throat and sat down at the table. He was awed by the sight of so much food in one setting. Everything looked so exquisite and delicious but he could barely stay awake.

"Will my um, parents be joining me?" he glanced over at Maria, her dark skin quite appealing. He wasn't used to eating alone and didn't plan on it. His new parents were probably to busy to stay and eat with him. They seemed to always be in a hurry or always talking about business with others in the short time that he had known them. He would probably never catch up. Folding his arms on the table, he rested his head on them. Not feeling up to eating, he started to fall asleep again.

Opening his eyes after a few moments, he rose from his seat and went out the glass door, towards the garden. Maybe Denver was still there. They might be able to talk a little more if he was lucky. "Denver?" he called out, listening for a reply of some sort. Laying down on the grass, he looked up at the sky and sighed. It was getting late and this was very relaxing. Maybe his parents would allow him to sleep beneath the stars. The mixing scents of the flowers made this a nice place for aroma therapy and it made him smile at the thought of living near so many of them.
