I would say Harry Potter, but I also like Percy Jackson and the Olympians and the Inheritance books very much.
And Circle of Magic and The Circle Opens by Tamora Pierce.

Wowzers, I wouldn't know where to start. All the ones Lyrica mentioned I'd have to agree with, although I do like Twilight.

haha. To be honest, I was fine with the Twilight series up until Breaking Dawn. I found Eclipse funny as well, but Breaking Dawn killed it as a series--after finishing the series, I determined that I despised Edward very much.
My older sister would like to recommend Cloud Chamber and A Yellow Raft on Blue Water but I have not read the former so I would not know. Cloud Chamber is the prequel to Yellow Raft.
My twin would like to recommend the series which includes: The Giver, Gathering Blue, and Messenger and I will wholeheartedly agree, though I personally dislike Jonas, one of the protagonists.
