Kaliko is another online handle of mine sweatdrop I think Kaliko's Kitchen sounds cute! Hope I inspire something~ Bio: I am of course a food enthusiast, having had an interest in cooking since I was a toddler. I obtained an associates degree in culinary arts at Johnson and Wales University but sadly have not done much with it emo xp My current interests in food include; bento design, dim sum, tapas, petite desserts and international pub food. arrow This is my ebay store, where I sometimes sell bento stuff I find while shopping around~ [Currently not selling] I also have an Instagram account that is a mix of food, photoblogging and narcissism whee

Jinxed Chop-Omu Rice:
Honestly, this was one morning I was making breakfast with leftovers n just throwing s**t in there, but something awesome came out of it.
- Korean meat patty things - eggs - furikake - rice - sesame oil - veggies - smoked cheese
I had these lil korean meat patty things that you're supposed to dip in egg first then fry up? Well I felt bad wasting the leftover egg so I put a whole bunch of furikake in there and figured I'd make an omelet... but it felt so empty crying
I had leftover rice in the fridge so I figured I'd heat that up to have along with my meal too, but it was so block hard I was like uuugh must fry. I put it in the pan with some sesame oil and started trying to chop it up so it would resemble rice once more lol and thats when my imagination started to go. I remembered a video tutorial for making tamagoyaki and pushed the rice to the side to pour the egg in there. I was going to try and roll the rice into the egg, but that didn't go as planned haha I got grumpy about it and just chopped it all up in there with a spatula... then I added stuff.
This go round I believe I added some leftover veggies, bruschetta style tomatoes (cuz I put that in everything lol) and smoked cheese. Sounds weird, but it tasted delicious!

Jinx-Deviled Eggs!So the definition of deviled eggs is simply hard boiled eggs that are cut in half, and the yolk is mixed with stuff and placed back in. I don't really like pickles and stuff, which is usually whats in deviled eggs, so I decided to make my own! Yolk Mix! * Gruyere cheese, melted * Dijon Mustard, farm style w/ horse radish * Sour cream * Trader Joes Bruschetta Tomatoes (I fricken use this all the time <3) * Minced sauteed garlic * Bacon salt, peppered! Sadly I was doing everything to taste, so I don't have exact measurements but man does this stuff mix up nice! Just add a little bit at a time and keep taking little tastes till its nummy! (I added things like a tsp at a time)

I have recently fallen in love with wrapping meat and cheese in croissant dough and baking it. It ridiculously easy, but if done right can be super impressive! Seriously, I just got croissant dough from those pop-cans (like pilsbury?) and cooked/seasoned some ground beef, layed everything out on the dough and rolled it as best I can (it was more "in-half" than rolled since I had thick cheese slices not shredded sweatdrop ) and baked it for 13 min! In my opinion, egg wash is always key to baked bread/pastries b/c it makes the final product more aesthetic. I'll edit this post with a picture when I get back home mrgreen The one I'll put is seasoned ground beef, smoked gouda and the dough with an egg wash! I also made another with colby jack cheese~ Next I wanna do chicken and gruyere *bounce*

Well, tomorrow is my birthday rolleyes I've been having kind of a tough time with my life the past year or so, and while this birthday may have been depressing for a number of reasons (one being I'm getting scarily close to 30 emo ) I wanted to make an event of it. I have decided to seek out my sense of accomplishment in food and have prepared an ambitious menu for myself and a small number of friends who may or may not be coming over. I've dubbed it "Sum Tapapé al'Bara" since there will be dishes that can be considered as any one of these "Dim sum, tapas, canapé". My crown glory will be the cake, where I'll be trying that Strawberry shortcake recipe I posted recently, but also adding almonds b/c I have like 3 bags and I need to get rid of them sweatdrop I will totally take pictures and post what I've made! I will also post opinions of people who've tried them 3nodding

Lord knows I have not been keeping up with my cooking. I've suffered some motivational setbacks as of late... it's especially painful when you have a friend in the industry and you get into a fight and they attack your lack of practice and say "you don't belong in the kitchen" emo At that point, and with several other contributing factors, I stopped considering her a friend.
I have terrible confidence issues most of the time, so these kinds of things hurt for a while... but I know that I can make good food. Anyone who eats anything I cook loves it (tho I hope they're not just saying that gonk ) so I just need to keep practicing and researching and furthering my abilities! RAWR, must cook stuff!!

I had a great time this past thanksgiving visiting my parents, but I think my favorite thing I made was this dessert: Raspberry Peach Cranachan! A dessert that was enjoyed after thanksgiving because we were all too stuffed; Peach and Raspberry Cranachan. Pretty damn good if I do say so myself. The whipped cream was flavored with Jack Daniels, honey, a breath of cinnamon and plain yogurt folded in. Layered with toasted oats and hazelnuts, raspberries and lightly caramelized peaches with a hint of vanilla. I definitely recommend it. Here is the original recipe. I wonder what other fruit it would taste good with!

Sounds like a perfect compliment to all the sodium and carbs ingested shortly before. Simple presentation too.

Thank you! heart I actually forgot a layer of the toasted oats, but no one cared lol I think it might've looked prettier, but hell it still tasted good! I was originally wanting to do this with plums and cherries and I was going to soak them in something, but my parents got this instead. You can really use any fruit. I'll post a link to the original recipe in the first post 3nodding

I usually get almond flour... I'm lazy butt.
