First season of the anime will cover the first two seasons of the live action in 22 episodes. Early 2011 and it'll be done.
Edit:
Brand new trailer, with Japanese voices (and a Japanese "Carry on My Wayward Son"...). I don't like the animation and Dean's character design. Why couldn't it have been produced by a different (less ugly) company?

I don't know how I feel about this . . . .
I mean, can you imagine watching Supernatural and NOT hearing Jensen and Jared's voices coming out of Sam and Dean's mouths?
Still, it would be nice to see more about their childhood and the secondary characters, which we're apparently getting here.
I dunno. I'm going to reserve judgement for now . . . .

Well, i'm sure they'd bring it over here eventually and Jared and Jensen would do voice overs (Jensen is already into the VA line of work).. But we'd probably have different voices for John, etc.
I just hope they can keep it true to the show in terms of characterization and just the feel of the show.

You know, the more I see of the anime, the less excited I am about it . . . . I mean, it would be awesome to learn more about the back story with those episodes, but honestly, I'd rather they just wrote a book about it at this point.
It just seems . . . . . off as an anime. There's just a lot of the mood of the show that's getting lost, I feel.
Example: Dean doing badass karate moves. In any other anime, awesome. But that's just not Dean. He doesn't do fancy s**t. He just punches people in the face and is done with it. He's a nitty gritty hunter, and it just doesn't feel right for him to be doing roundhouse kicks to get people's guns.
I'll probably watch at least the first episode, but still . . . . not so excited about it. Plus, I knew that Sam and Dean wouldn't look as pretty in the anime, so I was prepared for that, but what I wasn't prepared for was the Impala. I didn't even think about what she would look like in an anime, and I have to say, I don't like it. She's so much prettier in live action . . . . .
