First:

No one home,
I'm home alone,
People may surround me,
I couldn't care less,
In this always-vague reality.
But I am alone,
Again.
I pick it up,
Drape it around,
My neck and shoulders,
I do a twirl,
Step up on a chair,
Pose for my imaginary cameras,
I feel pretty,
And stupid,
For having a moment,
Of pure pretend,
So I jump down.
Weeks later,
Mommy comes home,
Sees the sign I made,
Still hanging by a string,
And screams.
What did she do wrong?
She cries.
People come,
And take me away.
You didn't do any wrong,
I'm so sorry Mom,
No blame is yours to be had,
The sign says:
'It's because of Dad'.

Where were you,
I was not too sure,
I never really cared,
Where are you,
Do I want to know,

You should've been there,
I tell myself everyday,
'Daddy should be here',
Yet all I can think is,
What if you were?

Would it be different,
A good difference,
Or would be wishing,
A swift death upon you?

Mybe I take for granted,
That I have no father,
I can't know that now,
Maybe,
It just shouldn't be you.

-------------------------

'Where's your daddy'
The ask me.
I tell them.
'What daddy?'

Somedays it hurts,
Wishing that instead,
Of just being a deadbeat,
That you were just dead.

Other times,
I'm at my best,
And couldn't care less.

But the shadows beat upon me,
'What if's and 'Why not's destroy me.
Why do I have no Daddy?
What if he was here?

I can see those are really straight from your heart, they speak to just about everyone who has had father issues. I like the simple format you have chosen, stripped of all rhyme but not reason, the format and words are stark, like the emotion being portrayed.

I apologize for not seeing this before.

Thank you.
Father's Day is always kinda difficult.
