Cordelia Carden, known to a select few as Sailor Corvus, lie in a coma at Destiny City Memorial Hospital. She was one of the many in such a state; not the first to fall, nor had she been the last. It had been completely unexpected. She hadn't even been Sailor Corvus at the time. No, she had been Cordy, cousin and friend, out for ice cream after spending the day shopping. She had been a normal girl.
Nothing had been normal about the circumstances, though. The questions surrounding the circumstances had pushed her parents, her father at least, to spend a bit more time standing in the doorway to his daughter's bedroom. There had been a time not long ago when she had been his happy, laughing, sweet little Cordelia... And now? Now no one could tell him whether or not she would ever wake up.
"Edan..." Cordelia's father felt the soft touch of his wife's hand on his shoulder, his brow furrowing as he closed his eyes for a moment before placing his hand over hers. "There are brilliant doctors at the hospital. They'll solve this. We'll get our baby back."
Always so caring; so hopeful. He smiled as he turned to look at his wife, letting their fingers twine for a moment before drawing her hand up to his lips. "My beautiful dreamer... We should do something to help them. See if we can't find anything that could have contributed to this. What if we've been missing something this whole time?"
Cordelia had been acting strange lately; for months, actually. Coming home with bruises, hiding in her room, spending so much time alone. If there was a reason at all for it perhaps it could be found here at home where she passed the weekends...
... ... ...
Together Candice and Edan Carden had spent hours in their daughter's room, mostly reminiscing as they went through her belongings. They started with the closet where, somewhere beneath all of the clothes, there had been a box filled with memories. Loose pictures, photo albums, old journals... So many things that detailed the life of their daughter.
The Cardens had emptied the box, attempting to return things to the order that they had been in originally as they leafed through the various things. Their were pictures from recitals, photo booth snapshots with girlfriends, school dance pictures with boyfriends... And then, at the very bottom of the box that had been emptied, what would have been the top had they started there, were the recent photos.
Edan smiled as he lifted up the picture of his daughter and the young man that had escorted her to the debutant ball that they had attended as a family affair, of sorts. It was good, really, for Cordelia to have a friend like that; friends like all of the ones that he was seeing pictures of now.
It was the light tug on his shirt that drew his attention away from the photo and back over to his wife who seemed to be holding up an envelope that had been tucked inside one of the albums. "It's addressed to that nice young man she's been spending time with." Her voice was soft as she spoke, brow furrowed. Had Cordelia known that something like this was going to happen? "I'm going to open it."
"No." He set his hand over his wife's, stopping her from invading Cordelia's privacy more than they already had, comatose or not. "Come on." He tucked the box back into the closet, holding his hand out to his wife as he helped her rise to her feet. "We'll swing by his place on the way to the hospital... He seems like a good young man. If there's anything inside that we need to know about... I'm sure he'll tell us."
