Is it common for bipolar individuals to have..not so good reactions after having caffeine? I personally am not officially diagnosed; I'm being monitored by a campus psychologist..but when I mentioned what happened with caffeine she said that could somehow be a possible sign of bipolar (since caffeine's a stimulant, and if someone's manic..it does seem to make sense that it could make it worse).
I'm just wondering if anyone here had any sort of experience like that. Whenever I drink caffeine.. well last time it happened I just flipped out and couldn't control myself. I was running around the house screaming at everyone..picking up anything i could find laying out and throwing it.. I don't normally react that way when I'm pissed off.. but whenever I drink caffeine it's the same thing..sometimes along with heart palpitations as well. I'm just not sure if this is somehow related or if it's some form of caffeine intoxication. I was just curious about everyone else.

Well, I once took 5 caffine pills (1 gram actually) and i was seriously affected by it.. I was at my boyfriends house then decided it was a good idea to go into the bathroom, lock the doors and cut myself all over my legs. Dunno why, but i left some nasty stains on their carpet and ******** their razor up.
But normal caffine (soda and whatnot) doesn't have much of an effect.. if any, the lack thereof causes me headaches since caffine is addictive.. xd

(last time, I drank it when I first got up..when I took my antidepressant.. gonk ..and I didn't eat until 8 hours later) ..the antidepressant thing might also be a factor.

I was addicted to caffeine for some time, Embrs can tell you about that. I OD'd once too.
Now it calms me down, since I'm ADHD as well.

I quit Caffiene about a month ago... I was addicted, but carbonation was the only that would get rid of the dry mouth caused by my mood suppressers... Caffeine CAN effect your sleep, which can in turn lead to your brain not reseting itself, which can lead to an episode happening sooner then expected... wow I sound like I'm talking about your period or something... If you slowly cut out caffiene, like instead of four pops you have three for a week then two, then one, and then see how just one effects you... You might sleep better, more energy, better ability to think... better control over your body and mind... wow... hippie cra again... gotta stop seeing that naturopath....

I'm totally zoned today, Its like...wow! But then again, until dinner today, all I'd eaten in 48 hours was sugar, or junk food. Yeah, heh, and coffee and soda. I'm thinking I shouldn't be drinking coffee with my meds anyway....but iunno.

Well, I don't drink coffee or tea. -shrugs- however, I like Mountain dew. Its never held an effect on me except to make me...um...a more scientific term for it...lets see...horny but, I doubt thats coming from the fact of me being bipolar. The best thing I can suggest is to not have very much, maybe buy those small coffee's, of those half-sized cans of soda.
[[I'm sorry mods if what I mentioned in here conflicts against the rules, I wasn't quite sure.]]
