A couple of my family members don't like that I am doing horseback riding. At least twice a week I hear how my mom read about people getting paralyzed from falling off a horse or how my great grandma knew a girl who fell off a horse while doing jumping and she got brain damage. How can I get them to leave me alone and to understand that this is what I want to do?

Explain to her how many people haven't been paralyzed on a horse and things like hippotherapy actually help people that are paralyzed.

I agree with xXusaspartansXx tell your mom how many horses have saved people in therapy there are so many wounderful stories about people and their horses and what they do with them to help others for example there's a therapy school called happy trails witch i have valunteer'd in for so many years to see these kids with paralizing bodies ride these big beautiful horses and change their life. Happytrails.com if she wants to read about it more Having horses i agree has it's dangers but that's part of life and learning. I can't emagine not riding because of dissaproval of some family members if your an adult or teenager this should be your choice and they should acept that.Tell them could be worse you could be doing drugs and joining gangs if all else fails lol.Having a horse saved me from all that .There's so many great things you can do to with horses i have had mine for 15 years with lessons learnd every day and it's great social improvement make loads of friends with simular interest.
