Luna's knees gave out the moment she knew the exam had begun. Trembling, she reached her hand for a wall, or something that would help support her. Her hand reached a branch and she pulled herself up. This was going to be her first exam and she had no clue what her enemy was like. Her eyes circled at her surroundings, only seeing hedges that were too tall for her to look over. Occasionally she saw a pink flower or two on the sides, other than that, the green hedges were the only thing she saw. She hugged herself, trying to stop her trembling.
Ching ching.
She flinched, but then realized that she wasn't alone. She had her mother's family heirloom beside her. An enchanted being in the form of a white star. Luna reached her arm out and brung the star close to her chest. She nodded at it before hesitantly going in the only direction that wasn't blocked by hedges, east. She looked up at the sky to see that it seemed more grey than blue. There was not a cloud in the sky. Or was it that the sky was fill with nothing but clouds? Her thoughts, along with her body, froze when she felt a strong chill crawl up her spine.
Reluctantly, Luna forced herself to turn around.
In front of her, approximately 15 meters away, was an abnormal figure. It's back was hunched over, limbs dripping in a green substance, and was about half her own size. It was breathing so loud, Luna could hear it from her distance. The thing grinned to show two rows of black teeth. "You look good," it hissed in a low, rhaspy voice. It reached out it's slime covered arm, pointing in Luna's direction.
Just the look of the monster made Luna's skin crawl. She thought she was about the faint when it spoke. SHe started searching her mind for comforting words. You'll be fine. This is a freshman exam. No real harm will come to you. This will be easy, she told herself, hoping what she thought would be true.
