The Background..
In the beginning of Summer, a young boy has to stay in a remote village at his grandmother's house, due to certain reasons. His parents planned to pick him up in 3 months time, only to cautious. He was a boy who's future had already been planned with politics and business. There were no electronics there except for cable television. He was always bored, and on the 5th day, he decided to go out and explore.

Shou: Age 8
Tina: Age 7

The day was burning hot, and he would have thought he would have been used to it by now. Shou was laying on the mat in front of the television again. His grandmother had finally had enough and tried to persuade him to go out. Thinking on this, Shou shrugged and only nodded. He walked out the door in his gray shorts, and striped blue t-shirt.
"Woah.."
He was in front of the mouth of the forest now. Walking in, he had to dodge the stray branches and found himself deep within the forest. There was a small space where nothing but short grass lay and a little girl.
She turned around and noticed a boy, almost her age, in her special place.
"Hello!", she whispered loud enough for him to hear.
"Hi..."
"What are you doing here? It's really hot today!"
"N-Nothing. What about you?"
"Nothing really~"
There was a moment of silence because Shou didn't know what to say next. She was still crouching on the ground in her own shorts and tank-top. Tina looked at him again and smiled.
"Come here, come here!", she whispered to him.
Shou nodded and walked over. He crouched next to her and to his surprise, saw 2 baby kittens. They were sleeping and looked like twins. One was black with a white spot, and the other was white with a black spot. Each spot was the same.
"Aren't they cute?", she asked. Her eyes shining wildly at Shou.
"Yeah." He said looking at her.
"I'm Tina."
"I'm Shou."
Together, they continued to watch the baby kittens sleep. Before they knew it, an hour had passed and the kittens had left.
"Wanna see the other parts of the forest?"
"Okay, yeah."
"Follow me!"
She showed him the way to the water fall, the way to the cave, and to the lake. Soon, they had become the greatest friends. Everyday, they would meet in the forest and play games with each other. Never once, did they tire of it. Even the sun and rain couldn't stop them from meeting at least once a day. The kittens they watched together appeared one day in the middle of summer. Tina took care of the black one and Shou took care of the white one.
"You're my best friend ever Shou!", she said to him one day.
"Then let's be friends forever." he said.
"Forever and ever!" they had agreed.
The days flew by and before Shou knew it, it was his last day in the village. The last day he had to spend with Tina. He spent it like any other with her, trying his best not to let her know something was wrong.
At the lake..
"Can you come back tonight?"
"..Yeah." he said, not looking directly at her.
"Then come back tonight! I'll meet you here." she cheered.
"...."
"Is something the matter?"
"It's nothing. I will! Definitely!"
"Promise?" She held out her pinky towards him.
"I promise." He promised and shook her pinky with Tina's.
That night, Tina waited for Shou at the lake. There were fireflies in the sky and glowing brightly. At that time, Shou was already on his way back to his home in the far East. The next day, Tina had visited his grandmother's house to find out where he had gone, only to find out Shou was not anywhere near where they were now. She cried and cried for about 3 hours. In her room, she held her kitten which she had named Sasha and continued to stroke him. Even after Shou had left, Tina continued to wait at the promised spot, every summer. And only on that summer night would she go.
.....
Shou was stroking his kitten who he named, Luna in his room which he locked himself in.
One day.. He swore. One day, he would return to Tina and keep their promise. Until then, Shou resumed his life before he met Tina. Each one, let their memories help them through the day and one day dreamed of meeting each other again.

10 years later..
Shou opened his eyes from his sleep, to face the sun. The sun was brighter than ever. It was summer again. He saw the land below and chuckled at the old memories from 10 years ago. He hadn't been able to go wherever he wished as he pleased, due to the political affairs his parents and he faced. Walking into what remained of his grandmother's house, and placed his suitcase on the floor where he always laid, to watch t.v. After visiting his grandmother's grave, the sun had set and it became night. He looked at his pinky and hoped she would be there.
.....
Tina looked out her window and sighed. It was another endless night and was losing of the last drop of hope she had. 10 years. 10 years and she had never heard from him again.
One more time.. She thought. If he doesn't show.. She didn't want to finish the sentence. Taking the path she always took, she went to the lake.
Tina pushed aside the last branch that blocked her way and walked onto the field of fireflies. No one was there and she sighed deeply. Tina hadn't cried for a long time, since that time and she was about to this time. Suddenly, Sasha and Luna appeared in front of her and in came a sudden voice.
"Did you miss me?"
She gasped and turned towards the direction of the voice. The man came out of the shadows and in front of Tina.
"You look like you've seen a ghost."
"S-Shou.."
"The one and only."
She went over and hugged him tightly. Tears were overflowing and she buried herself in his arms.
"I'm sorry you waited so long.. Tina."
