I was never really afraid of Mirelurks. Mirelurk Hunters made me feel a little intimidated for awhile though since my first death in Fallout was from a gang of Hunters. It probably didn't help that I was inside a small building and they followed me in xp

yea i hated those oversized lobsters and contrary to belief they may look like crabs but they look more like a horseshoe crab

Definately, always backed away fast from them and emptied my ammo into their squishy faces.

Yup... I remember the first time I saw one, too. I was like, "HOLY $#&%!!!! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING?!"
Shortly after I yelled that out I was completely pulverized by them. gonk

I wasn't really scared, I just pulled a "Uhhh... What is THAT?" And quickly shot it's face.

I was alright with them but their persistence is what scares me. I had one follow me for 10 minutes before I ended up shooting it. What gets me is the noise they make. Creepy freakin squish foot steps.

The normal mirelurks are simple to beat....i had a combat shotgun at level 3 so i was all set, except i had only a clip or two of ammo.... stare Then later, i saw a bigger and browner mirelurk. I didn't shoot it, i was practising with stealth, and then it turned around and sprinted after me. I shot it with VATS in the face with my 10mm sub, nope. Still charging. "F**K!" So i ran, placing down the valuable mines i stole from Minefield, and eventually killed one.
But the worst was when i went into vault 92...(i think) i went to the lower levels, where water had seeped in the reactors, and mirelurks of all kinds lived there. I had my ALIEN BLASTER, so i was all set. *opens door* *waits for loading scre-* (chinkachuu!) "Okay....lets se-WHOALY FAWK!' [Mirelurks= 2 Mirelurk hunters= 4 Mirelurk Kings= 5] All....in....one...corridor...
"SUNUVA-*pewpewpewpewpewpewpewpe-SSSSSSSssssssssssZZSssssssss* [somehow surived with 27 health and still had more than 50 stempacks]

i still freak out over anything that jumps out at me from nowhere. mirelurks are the worst at it since i got the ghoul mask. i'm a fallout wimp, don't remind me

I didn't fear them I hated them. At low lvls they were a tank to suck up ammo, at least with raiders I could blow their heads off easily.
