Since Drangonfreakpk and I got onto a very interesting discussion about books in the username topic...I figured a topic on books would be fun!
So! Whats your favorite genre? Favorite author? Series? read any good books lately?
My favorite genre is Biography (specifically that of the old Vaudeville stars {Jack Benny, George Burns, Gracie Allen...ect...) and is closely followed by christian fiction.
Author is George Burns (old vaudevillian...wrote like 9 books before he died in 96')
Series: Not a clue! Read to many to decide! I like Narnia, but its not my favorite...Read harry potter, but found it kindof too predictable for my likings (it all had to work out for good no matter what!) Twilight i liked till everyone i knew became over obsessed fans and started wars in hallways! (plus the movies were aweful!)
Havent read much new stuff lately...but will always reccomend "Gracie: A love story" by George Burns ... really good read...still cry at the end everytime!

Hmm, I don't think I have a favourite genre... I will practically read anything. As for favourite book, mine is Whale Song by Cheryl Kaye Tardif. smile At the moment I'm reading Crazy Love by Francis Chan; its a book on falling in love with God. smile

I mostly like fiction novels. And comic books/manga if that counts. I've read a lot of books but the Sherlock Holmes volumes have a special place in my heart. It has two of the best fictional characters ever created: Sherlock Holmes, and Dr. James Watson. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a genius... I've read the Twilight books and it was alright...hate the sparkling thing though. (but Taylor Lautner is gorgeous...) also read all HP books 'cause I was a fan before... I'm a fan of DC comics especially the JSA series... In manga, I like Bleach and Detective Conan (inspired from Sherlock Holmes) I haven't read anything lately so...yeah.

When I was in the 6th grade my teacher was tired of me getting the books in my supposed age level and finishing them in the first 15 minutes...so she let me go to the high school section and got Sherlock Holmes for me to read (that kept me occupied for a bit smile )

I really hate when a book ends predictably (Also didn't like Deathly Hollows of HP, or Last Battle of Narnia) theres the standard "Huge battle between good and evil, Evil is momentarily in control of the situation then something (usually a prophecy or a discovery of a very helpful superpower) comes along that changes everything so the good side has a chance at actually winning and then voila! They win!... It seems like every series is ending like that nowadays! Drives me crazy! (Cause normally they just let them win and thats all...no developement, no after the fact! You know the problems were not solved instantly! there were still survivors! They are not going to be all that willing to just stand back and say oh hey! lets be good now! )

I couldn't agree more. Whatever happened to interesting storylines and plot twists? Guess people all want a happy (and boring) ending.

Not let some miraculous event save the world! (Seriously the whole new twist on the prophecy in harry potter really ruined it for me! along with the whole "hey I'm dead lets talk to dumbledore who will make everything happy!" scene! AGH!...) And in Twilight the "hey i can protect everyone now instead of not being able to protect anyone! woo hoo!" No development when it does turn out kills me the most!

That's why most books die after the hype. It's sad. Unlike Sherlock, he had to be reincarnated due to public demand! Awesome...just awesome. A well-loved classic.
