Darkness... it was all there was to see. Petrified trees held the moonlight in their clingy grasp of entangled leaves as if intent on holding back the little comfort in this forsaken place. Only dim pillars of silver light escaped through the small exposures. The grass was soft under my paws and the low shrubbery made the perfect place to take shelter from the shadows. A soft breeze ran through the forest leaving a rustle of branches. My nose rose to meet its foretelling of what's beyond the next step in my journey. Nothing new came from it's breath and it passed just as soon as it came; the smell of oak and pine with a hint of rose and the sweet smell of the gathering dew upon the grass. This night had just begun and I was intent on lasting it out. No matter how eerie the dead silence was...
