The first book is called "Glass Houses".
I personally thought it was a bit overdramatic and too much happened too early. I mean, I've only finished the first one, so I may be totally off with this, but, at the end of the first book, Monica and her posse were holding Claire down in the backseat of a car, trying to burn her with a lighter while basically kidnapping her. I know they've known each other before the series started and have probably developed some kind of hatred toward each other, but since we've just met the characters, it seems like too much bad stuff is happening too soon. But, I've only read the first one, so maybe I just need to read more. But, to me, the first in a series of anything is supposed to be used for stereotypical relationships and introducing the characters and their situations. Then maybe something mildly action-y toward the end to just demonstrate powers and abilities. Not having the whole first book being all action when we barely know the characters. It just all happened too fast for me, I guess.
