Peej and I are trying to come up with familiars. But.. it's not easy.
Can anyone think of any non-prey animals that would make good familiars? We're thinking vultures of some sort, but that's about as much as we can muster. :X

Cobras? Aardvarks, Bats, Hedgehogs, Elephant Shrews, Dwarf Mongoose, Hyrax, Genet, African Wild Dog, Jackal, Pangolin, Spring Hare, Warthog, Ratel, Serval, Porcupine, Vervet Monkey, Bushbaby or a Dikdik?

EDIT:: I just found out some of those might not fit your "non-prey" description...but...XP Er yeah! Sorry about that.

What about some other birds of prey, like eagles and hawks and falcons?
I think the jackal or even small foxes would be cool too. *thinks* Snakes I like. XP
But I really think that may cover it as far as non-dominating predators... at least as far as I can think. ^^;

Scorpion! At least for the crazed and poisoned. Of course, depending on the hyena I think a rock would be pretty amusing. Or a radioactive fish.

There are some small birds that feed on scrapes, but Hyenas leave them alone most of the time. Now, if only I can remember the name of that bird. ;-;

I don't think prarie dogs, armadillos, wolves, lynx, dingos, and kangaroos live in Africa... xD
*ponders* Mmm, mutant clawed frogs. Maybe the next batch of familiars should all be mutant.
