 The main character is Goku
He's a Saiyan (he's from another planet) and he came to Earth when he was young and grew up as an Earthling. Whenever other alien races try to take over or destroy the planet he defends it. There's a lot more to it but that's the basic storyline ^^

I used to love it when I was little and I was happy when Toonami started airing it again. BUT, then toonami had to go bye-bye, so I'll have to watch/finish the series on youtube or something.
