It seems that the rumors of the Captain's Maze was true as you descend into the darkness.
Hopefully, you've brought with you some sort of light, as there is no illumination on this floor of the basement.
It is suggested that you leave some sort of trail behind you so you may return to the light of the upper floor and, eventually, the light of day.
Unlike in the level above, the pet on this floor is very difficult to find, as it doesn't stay in one spot.
The captain has demanded that you give the food directly to the beast on this floor, or else it is possible that it won't be found for a long time.
Hopefully you've also brought water and food provisions for yourself, for this may take a while.
There is rumor of a hidden staircase on this level that leads down even further, though your captain has denied it.

Giving him very little time to move out of the way, the captain slides down the ladder, one hand gripped loosely around the edges, though her feet didn't touch the rungs. Landing with nearly no sound, the captain snaps her fingers, her infamous blue flames prancing at her finger tips. She makes a movement with her fingers, almost like a flick, and sends dozens of tiny blue sparks ahead of them, lighting the way. "I believe we should go this way." she declares, and with that, she leads the way forward. Weaving her way through the maze as easily as she did the columns on the floor above, the captain and her companion would draw nearer and nearer to the source of heavy footsteps. As they proceeded, the captain remained quiet until they were practically upon the source of the noise. "Now, be very polite. He can get pretty touchy. He won't try to sniff you at least, but he gets easily offended."

Nemo followed. It wasn't as if he had much other choice considering that she was the only light source in this sea of darkness, "So basically be polite to the bull and I won't get the horns eh?" He shrugged it seemed simple enough, though the flowers still had him slightly curious, "What about this bouquet? Do I give it to him or something? I mean honestly this is kinda random." Especially since they were talking about a bull headed minotaur. Weren't they supposed to like violence and have really bad tempers, bred to be arena beasts for that exact reason. This labyrinth was a curiosity in and of itself. Why the trouble? Certainly there was a way to hold the beast that didn't take so much.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 27, 2010 1:50 pm

"Because he likes flowers. I know it sounds strange, but even the most violent creatures have some sort of soft spot. Greg just happens to like flowers." she shrugs, though this at least more sense than some of her musings. "I usually bring him some when I visit, but I think receiving them from someone else will ease his anxiety." she glances back at him, giving a single wink. "He gets anxious around new people. I'd rather this not go over like the last time." turning a corner, the captain stops, calling out to the minotaur by name.

The sound of heavy footsteps stopped for a few moments before picking back up, now headed in their direction. The head of the beast appeared around a corner further down. As it stepped out and drew closer, one could finally see how tall it was. Compared to the minotaur, even Nemo wasn't much taller than the captain herself. The beast had dark, auburn hair covering it's head and lower body, it's chest looking like that of a very muscular man. It's head looked slightly strange coming from it's shoulders, though scrutiny probably wasn't the safest way to go about watching this beast. He seemed as if he'd explode any moment, as if balanced precariously on the point of a castle tower.

"Last time?" An eyebrow rose slightly as Nemo directed his eyes toward Neciel. What did she mean by that? Had something happened that he should have been warned about. Then he saw Gregario. As with the other pets this one was large in all aspects. There was a certain air of danger surrounding this form that wasn't there with the rest. The sea serpent and the dragons seemed dangerous but they did things quick, so quick that their prey most likely never knew. This minotaur however didn't seem to have that sort of capability, in fact he was certain that he new what a fight with a minotaur was like and he had no intention of finding out if he was indeed right. Cautiously he raised the flowers up to the beast with a slight smirk. He really was ready to get rid of those things.

Stopping a good five feet from the pair, the minotaur simply stares. It's eyes, if one could see, were an odd shade of red. The color was dull, yet somehow intelligent. It was true this was not the brightest crayon in the box, but he was far from a mindless animal. He blows hot air from his nostrils, the gesture much like a sigh, and takes a half step forward to receive the flowers. He plucks one from the bundle, sniffing it. Seeming content, he looks almost expectantly at the little woman beside the bringer of flowers.

The captain roll her eyes, setting the crate on the ground in front of her. She kicked it towards the beast, hands on her hips. "Men are all the same. Always so impatient." a frown tugged the corners of her mouth downwards, though she wasn't terribly annoyed. "Greg, this is Nemo. Another man, and one of terribly aggravating proportions." she almost grins, trying to amuse herself. It seemed the man-beast also found this rather amusing, giving another huff of breath, sounding almost like a chuckle.

"Another?" Nemo cocked an eyebrow at this choice of words. If he had his facts straight he had been the only man to hang around the captain as he did for quite some time. Ha as if there had ever been another. At least Nemo hoped that there hadn't, no that was her little trick, she was trying yet again to creep under his skin and pester him ever so slightly with those subtle words. Nemo shook his head, "Really now Neciel if you want another man to frolic with just let me know and I can disappear into my hole." At least until the little ones were born. Nemo had every intention of being the best uncle he could to those girls, well as good as he could to girls he wasn't related to by blood. "And I happen to think that I have wonderfully aggravating proportions. Seriously you should know that I am the second most perfect thing around here." Humility was something that he had decided to try out for once though he didn't seem to have the knack for it yet. He would just have to practice while he could.

The captain laughed, crossing her arms over her stomach. "No, no, you have it wrong." she shakes her head, not bothering to reach out and take his hand as she might have otherwise. "I was simply clarifying that you are a man, like Greg here. His sight isn't all that sharp, especially in the dark." she smiles faintly, hands on her hips now. "And glad to see you've finally admitted to my perfection. After all, I must be perfect to be more so than you." she grins teasingly, shaking her head slightly. "And we hardly frolic, my dear. I believe that if I suggested such, you'd look at me as if I was crazy." this might be because even she couldn't picture herself frolicing, let alone her bandit companion. "You disappear into your hole anyway." she points out as well, raising an eyebrow at him in what could be irritation. "I hardly have to say anything for that."

Was she snapping at him for his trips back to his home? This woman was certainly an interesting one. It was obvious that she missed him when he left, yet she hadn't admitted it to anyone. He was fairly certain that if he left that day she would carry on as if it didn't matter so long as her striders were watching her. That begged the question of how the captain acted behind closed doors. He stopped wondering after a few seconds knowing full and well that he would never truly know what she did in her time alone. "Well in that case I take back my inquiry."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 06, 2010 3:54 pm

"That's exactly what I thought." she responded, only one hand on her hip now. She pauses a moment, raising the other arm and snapping her fingers. The box containing Greg's meal burst into flames, the flames her signature blue color. The beast blinks in moderate surprise, not having expected the small woman to do such. Usually his meal came precooked, and was slightly cold by the time it got to him. It would be nice to have freshly cooked meat, though he had grown completely used to the chill of his food. Waiting a few good minutes, he then begins to stomp down the flames using his hoof, revealed by the light cast by the flames. It was absurdly large, about twice the size of the captain's, admittedly small, feet. All that remained of the box were scattered ashes and, mostly covered, cooked fish. The smell of meat wafted from the ground, and the captain glances over her shoulder at Nemo. "Would you like some as well? I know fish is a delicacy where you come from." she winks, obviously back to teasing him.

Nemo stuck his tongue out childishly, "It is so for everyone but the king who controls the flow." True as it was he had been benefiting a good deal from their little agreement, the bandit had grown tired of the things overtime. It was a good thing that the people of the dessert never did. Then there were the tanks of fresh water he transported to the dessert. The price he put on the goods caused for better rationing and less waste, not to mention he was turning a nice little profit and had a nice little cover operation for his den. "You know Neciel if I wanted to have fish I would just go jump in the lake, go for a swim if that was the case." Now if only he could find a way to drag her in with him, ha now that would be a challenge, getting Neciel to do something she didn't feel like. He could see it ending with him in the meddle of the lake and her still perfectly dry on the shore, unless she wanted to. In that case he had no clue what would happen.

"I don't remember becoming a king." she responds with a sly smile, asserting her own control over the flow of fish. At the mention of jumping in a lake, the captain shakes her head slightly. An amused smile appeared on her face, and she raises an eyebrow at him. "Just a year and a half ago, such a stunt would have killed you." she points out, grinning widely. Hands on her hips, she watches the minotaur begin to pick out his meal from the ashes. Waiting only a few minutes, she spins on her heel and begins to walk away. "I'll be back another time, Gregorio, my friend." she calls over her shoulder, casting a mischievious glance to her companion, before continuing through the maze, all light she had provided now vanished, leaving them in extreme darkness.

Nemo looked up from the charred remains to see Neciel starting to run off taking the light with her, "Hey" He moved quickly to catch up, "And a year and a half ago I know that I wouldn't have died from such a stunt. Someone would have pulled me out. Though how amused that person might have been is a pondering." He moved just behind her wanting to keep up with the light in this seemingly endless sea of darkness, "You know if I ever need to hide something I'll bring it to you. You seem quite better at it than me." It took a lot for a woman to hide two entire floors of her castle from an army of scouts and assassins. "Dare I ask what other secrets you have tucked away my dear?" He honestly was not certain whether or not he wanted to know these things. He tucked his thumbs into his pockets as they walked and he contemplated the things he had just witnessed. This woman had tamed a two headed dragon, domesticated a minotaur, and had turned a sea serpent into a spy and philosopher. She really was amazing when she wanted to be. He wasn't turning into one of her trained animals, was he? He had certainly become a little less wild but he still did come and go as he pleased or did he go when he wished and come when she pleased like a trained mutt. No he wasn't tamed by her, not yet.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 08, 2010 11:51 am

"The answer to that is extremely amused." she responds, smirking slightly. She raises an eyebrow at the mention of hiding something, and her smirk broadened slightly. "Of course I am. I've had more practice at it. But what fun would it be if I simply told you all of my secrets? You'll learn eventually, if you so chose to stick around." her arms swung loosely at her side as she continued on her, making a sharp left turn around a corner, doubling back on the other side of the wall. Neciel never meant to train the bandit, though it seemed he followed her around more than walk at her side. Usually the only person she liked at her side was that damned troll, but that was if a different nature entirely. She might have a spot of trouble beating up Yata, whereas with Nemo it would be a simple thing. But for some reason, she never felt the desire to, even when he was at his most irritating. As she continued on her way, it became clear she was going a completely different way than they had come.
After an hour of weaving her way through the maze, the captain stops at a ladder, this one looking in need of repair. She turns on her heel to face Nemo, and smiles slightly. "After you, my good sir." she sweeps her hands towards the ladder in a grand gesture, motioning him up first.

Nemo cocked an eyebrow at the ladder. No this wasn't the same they had entered on. In fact it seemed quite older. "Care to tell me where it leads?" The lack of repair didn't bother the bandit. In fact he was quite certain he had climbed much worse. Of course it made complete sense that she would want him to go first, he had stolen many chances to gander at her as it were might as well not give him a legitimate reason to stare, "Alright, just don't stare too much." With those words he gripped the ladder and started up at a rather brisk pace. Hopefully he would see the door above before he smacked into it, that would mast likely end quite unpleasantly.
