Up late tonight(again) and got a lot on my mind. We all walk through life, living it...yet what are we living it for? When I say this I don't mean like what job are we gonna have. I'm saying what are we LIVING for. Well I've asked some people this tonight... And I recieved one that stuck out.
"oh. well in that case, I'm gonna live for myself. because I'm too f****** nice and people walk all over me and use me. I've had it with my life recently. I'm going back to being a loner. but now I'm going to go back to college and get a career to say f*** you to all the worthless dumbf**** who think they're better than me."
Who said this I will not say, only that they said this(I use they to secure their gender). This stuck out to me, because I can't count how many times I've thought this. And I can understand exactly how their feeling, and I can imagine that they have times where they cry themselves to sleep. The fact is many people think like this. They treat so many with kindness yet they get none back in return, they get this feeling that nothing they do for other really matters and run away. This is one of the things I thank God for every day, keeping me from running away. Let me quote accouple of Bible verses:
"That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."-Matthew 5:25
"And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust." -Acts 24:15
"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" - 1st Peter 3:18
The first verse explains that it doesn't matter whether your just or if your unjust, bad things will come to you, you can't help it. The second explains in the hope of salvation for both the just and unjust. Third that Christ suffered for both the just and the unjust so that we might be brought back to God. So why be just?:
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." -Ephesians 2:10
"They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate." -Titus 1:16
The first verse explains to us that it is good works that God wanted us to do, it is what he made us to do. The second verse explains that if you say you know God, yet don't do good works, but still walk in darkness, you are a liar. But why is this important?:
"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." -James 4:14
Our lives are nothing more than vapours that are here only for a short while...thats all material life is...its here then its gone. Why would one live for something that doesn't last but a short while? You, your family, your friends, money, possessions, everything on this earth will vanish, and everything forgotten. To live life for any other purpose than the everlasting is the same as a vapour. God is the everlasting, and to live life for Him is the only reason to live life. All else is like a friend of mine once said, is like living life in the matrix. If you are not living life for God, you are not living your life. Live life for Christ, for he lived his life for you.
(P.S. This is a sermon idea of mine, the notes I'd use in it.)
