I have an idea that I'm thinking about using to make a fantasy roleplay out of. But I'm having trouble putting it together.

My idea was inspired by the Japanese folklore of demons going on a parade with laterns and what city lights look like from far away. What I have so far is the idea that a couple humans(An equal number of males and females preferably) suddenly wander onto the parade and end up getting pulled in and through some kind of series of events also get pulled into either a prophecy, war between groups, or something like that. I'm not quite sure.

A hook for this one would be the variety of creatures there could be: Vampires, imps, ogres, sprites, and even made up creatures. I'd have a log of the creatures that appear along with a small description(to help keep track of abilities and such).

But I'm mostly having trouble stitching the plot together.

Can I get some help with this? I'd appreciate suggestions and the like.

There could be a rivalry between these races or two superior races that causes the demons to split half and half and fight. Another suggestion a death of the ruler/s of the demons causing one or a group of superior demon/s that no one likes takes over and causes chaos and the group of teenagers have to defeat these people.

Or you can do something like the ruler/s, heir to the throne, or court is planning to be assassinated by a group of demons that want to take over and the humans get involved with the assassins when they walk with lanterns to their hideout. They listen to a sob story of what the assassins want them to believe that is against the demon/s so the humans decide to help them. But the twist being these demons are only leading them on to gain power of the throne and the good demon/s are the one/s that are in charge: ruler/s, heir to throne, or court. And the ending all depends on you.

I'm trying to give some sort of ideas different to what Becki said so you don't have the same ideas.
