Welcome to Post Apocalyptia!
First of all, thank you for showing interest in the guild! Here in this thread is a basic guide to the guild that should be pretty simple to follow and teach you everything you want to know. If there's still left over questions, ask away in the Questions thread! Someone will happily help you out!
{ General Notes }
This guild is best viewed using the centered site option here on Gaia Online. Without it turned on, posts will most likely look stretched and messed up. However, if you don't wish to turn it on you don't have to, things will just look funny.
This thread was officially removed on March 26th, 2012.

{ 1 }History
In the near future, tensions between the major world powers have come to an all-time high. During the peak of the Great War between the world's powers, Chinese planes flew over cities in the United States of America and Europe, letting a disease into the air that, when ingested, caused the brain to slowly shut down. After a short time period of approximately seven hours, the body would then reanimate with only one goal; devouring human flesh. These zombified humans, also called the "Diseased", started to slowly cover the globe. Only those lucky enough to escape into fortified bunkers survived the disease. A short week after the Chinese planes let loose their new form of biological warfare, nuclear bombs were finally released, striking cities all over the globe. Everyone was rushed into special underground bunkers that protected them from the radiation and explosions caused by the explosions. Not everyone was lucky enough to get inside, and millions perished. After the radiation wore off, people emerged from the bunkers to find their once beautiful world now a post apocalyptic wasteland. In areas where no zombies were found, it was basically a horrible post apocalyptic world. Where the bombs did not hit, the disease had struck and turned everyone into zombies. With important materials dwindling, such as non-irradiated food and power cells, raiders started to take over the wasteland, and merchants made travels between cities to sell their goods to the people. It became a time of extreme hardship. However, there are safe havens in the world. The most notable location is Las Vegas, Nevada, where the bombs did not strike and the disease did not reach. With near impenetrable defenses, it's one of the most fortified places in the world. But hardly anyone is allowed entry.

{ 2 }Major Locations { Washington, D.C. } Radiation Filled WastelandThe capitol of the United States, as it was seen before the Great War. Even though it was nearly obvious that Washington, D.C. would get bombed, people still flocked to the area. Thus, whenever the bombs fell, thousands of people lost their lives, and thousands of others fell victim to heavy radiation poisoning, and many mutated. The capitol itself and the area around it are now known as the Capitol Wasteland, as it's all basically in ruins and anyone living there are often times killed and/or taken over by raiders, who have claimed the area mostly for themselves. It's a harsh wasteland full of raiders, many mutated beasts, and just a handful of good people trying to survive. Unfortunately the area is completely void of resources and with constant raider attacks, caravans importing goods have started to slowly die down. As a side note, it's speculated that the president and government officials are still alive in an extremely secure underground bunker somewhere in the area, though no one has attempted to look for it. { Las Vegas, Nevada } City of Luck and FortuneLas Vegas was always home to lots of fun and crazy events before the great bombing. Not much changed afterwards, either. When the bombs fell, the people of Las Vegas all pretty much left, fearing that it would be one of the major targeted locations. When the bombs fell, those that stayed in Las Vegas survived and those that left generally died, as Las Vegas was never even touched by the bombs or the radiation they left behind. However, soon after zombies started to be attracted to the grand city, and barriers were quickly erected around the strip. Now a safe haven, the city is hard to get into and tons of secrets and events take off there. It's home to many shady people and lots of fun. It's the symbol of the post apocalyptic wasteland, and people flock there from all over to remember what life was like before everything went to hell. Many head there to simply bet their Chips on machines and "games", trying to obtain some of the rarest items found in the wasteland. People say the place is not only rigged but also haunted. { Anchorage, Alaska } Covered in DiseaseThe city located far north, in one of the only two states not of the main mass of the USA. With temperatures typically never rising over seventy degrees, it is by far a very, very chilly location for anyone. Unfortunately, the city sometimes sees volcanic eruptions from the many surrounding volcanoes. The most notable volcanic activity left a blanket of ash over the city, causing many issues for it. After the war, the city was completely untouched by the bombs and radiation. However, a strange new type of biological warfare was started across the world by China. Starting in Alaska itself, planes flew over the state and released gases into the air. The state became filled with what people called the "Diseased", or zombies. The population of Alaska quickly dwindled down to a mere couple hundred people after only a few weeks of the disease starting, as the disease struck nearly every person alive. Those lucky enough to get into one of the bunkers in Alaska before the plains flew over the state survived the disease.

{ 3 }Currency
There are two types of currency in the post apocalyptic wasteland. The main form of currency is known as "Bills", which are basically any form of pre-apocalypse money. This form of currency can be found very easily. The second form of currency is known as "Chips", which are basically poker chips. This form of currency requires much more work to receive, but also give much better rewards. Listed below is everything you will need to know on both forms of currency, including their uses, how to obtain them, and other important information.  { Bills }
How do I acquire Bills? Bills are actually very easy to find. You can get them by playing various skill based games like Treasure Hunters and Bargain Shoppers. Each time you shop with a Merchant out at a Store you can choose to sell items you've found for Bills. With the "Fortune Finder" perk, you'll also be able to get additional Bills for each normal way listed above
What are Bills used for? Bills are used to buy normal items and weaponry from normal merchants and stores that are found across the wasteland. They can also be used to buy some special items, though the special items that can be bought with Bills are very limited. There's also a single merchant that sells black market items that can be bought with Bills. These items would normally be bought only with Chips.  { Chips }
How do I acquire Chips? Chips are the most difficult to obtain form of currency in the whole wasteland, but their value makes up for it. The easiest way to obtain Chips are through playing gambling games like Wastelander Blackjack and Raidin` Roulette. Chips are also given out for special events. Another way to obtain chips are through donating to the guild mule and helping out people in the Charity forum, as well as keeping a good guild member reputation.
What are Chips used for? Though hard to find, Chips can come in extra handy for that survivor looking to go that extra mile in their journeys across the wasteland. There are special merchants who will only take Chips that sell some of the best items in the entire wasteland. They will also allow purchasing character upgrades that will help out tremendously when traveling across the barren wasteland.
Wondering why Chips are better than Bills? Basically because in Las Vegas there are tons of casinos. Since Bills were more likely to get ruined and lost during the bombing, casinos in Las Vegas will only accept Chips. These casinos are very important as they provide tons of rare and useful items as well as are home to very many events and secrets.

{ 4 }Chance Games
Chance games refer to simple mini-games that are found in the announcements section of the role play sub forum. These chance games can be played to earn Chips, Bills, or other prizes, and have nothing to do with the role play. Should your character win in the chance game, they will simply find the item in the role play. If they lose in the chance game, they will simply accidentally drop/leave behind the item.
YOU MAY DO EACH CHANCE GAME WITH EACH CHARACTER ONCE PER DAY. This is to make sure currency doesn't inflate too much. { Available Chance Games }

The floor of the arena is actually several feet of sand, which was swept in during the bombings. { 5 }Important Items
In post apocalyptia, things have greatly changed. Power has dwindled down and nearly vanished. Crops have nearly disappeared due to ruined farmland. Animals are basically extinct, save for the radiation filled mutations. Because of all these changes, there are many things that people need to keep alive and healthy during their time in the wastelands. The items listed below are some of the most important and rare items that can and should be obtained. Also listed are their best uses and how they can be obtained. Pay high attention to them, because finding them could be the difference between life and death. As a final note, having any of these items while being attacked by one of the Special NPCs will save you from them attacking you, but they will take the item(s). { Power Cells }

About: These cells were created prior to the Great War by government scientists as an alternate power source. Their compact design actually allows them to store massive amounts of energy in their tight coils, allowing a single cell to power a major city for an entire twenty-four hours time. However, they're incredibly rare, having just been introduced to the world a few months prior to the Great War. Uses: These Power Cells can be sold to Merchants for a good amount of Bills, and even for a few Chips to certain Merchants or stores. Contacting the leader of a city or civilization to cell them these Power Cells will result in them offering greatly for them. Obtaining: Power Cells can be obtained through quests for certain individuals, from raiding power company buildings, and through playing the games Treasure Hunters and Gold Miners.
