Octomom Nadya Suleman paid by Peta to promote pet family planning

Octomom Nadya Suleman unveiled a 3-foot-by-4-foot plastic sign on her front door that reads: "Don't Let Your Dog or Cat Become an Octomom. Always Spay or Neuter."

A few curious onlookers stopped to watch as a People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals mascot (a person in a dog suit) gave her a hug.

PETA is paying Ms Suleman $5,000 to keep the sign on her front door until June 9, the deadline when city officials say it must be removed. The organisation is also throwing in a month's supply of veggie hot dogs and burgers for her and her 14 children.

Ms Suleman, 34, acknowledged she put the sign on her door partly for the money but added her support of PETA is sincere.

"I love animals and I do believe they should be spayed or neutered," she said. "Humans of course are much different."

Her children, the oldest of whom is nine, want a dog, Ms Suleman said. She told them they can have one when they are old enough to care for it.

Ms Suleman already had six children when she gave birth 16 months ago to octuplets conceived by in vitro fertilization.

Since then she has struggled to pay her bills and was in danger of losing her home earlier this year. Her lawyer has since negotiated an extension on a $450,000 mortgage payment that had been due in March.

"It's really a win-win situation for everyone," PETA campaign coordinator Amanda Fortino said of the sign.

Ms Fortino said the agreement allowed PETA to do its part to help Suleman financially while also spreading word that more than 7 million cats and dogs enter shelters every year, where more than half are put to death.

I have nothing nice to say about this other than I'm glad she doesnt support animal shelter over crowding.
Outside of the media coverage I know nothing of this woman so I really cant comment besides saying nasty redos of other media complaints.

*sighs* I worry about all the children and all. I hope their mom gets enough money so that the children don't fear about a place to live and whether they will be separated as a family and all.

I think it was irresponsible of her to do the in-vitro thing when she already had that many kids; she had to have known that she'd have trouble providing for them all financially. I hope that her kids don't suffer from this, and I hope that she's not turned into another of those tv families where the kids grow up with tv cameras around them 24/7. I mean I'm sure it would pay their bills, but it's just a horrible way to bring up a family.

She's been getting all kinds of offers. Some porn company wanted her to do a movie for about 15k I believe. Well, at least she took the classy route.

I wonder as well what her children will tell the media when they are in their teens.

I wouldn't want her as my mother even if she had money.

She seems the type to not be able to use money properly anyway

Wow, I forgot all about her. Not that I ever was that interested in her life to start with. She was one for those people the media made just to sell tickets for. She wanted the fame and they gave it to her. Oh well.

I have to say, after having two litters of her own she must have one heck of a sense of humor!
