The Story
In a world much like our own, there live many different races of people. Fairies that are able to take on Human forms, Nekos, the cat-like people, Kitsunes, people who have fox-like qualities, Cyborgs, Angels, Demons, and so many other wonderful races exist alongside the Human race. Technology is similar to our own, but it is slightly more advanced. Their cities are huge, there is no war, and things are relatively peaceful except for a few problems here and there caused by a few mean people. However, much to what we may believe, there is no magic present upon this planet.
Everything is about to change. Magic is about to be introduced to the world and a mysterious new store several stories tall has magically appeared in the midst of a beautiful, large city bustling with life. Soon the store will open and many cruel people will purchase magic from this store that they can implant within themselves to give themselves supernatural powers. However, heroes will also rise to face these new evildoers and maintain the peace of the world.
Anything can happen in this brand new world, and depending on your choices, the people will either be saved...or they will be ruined. Good luck and enjoy this tale of magical adventure!

The Setting
The world of "When you Deal in Magic" is much like our own. The cities are huge, the planet is enormous with huge oceans, vast deserts, different continents, etc. etc. However, this role-play deals with but a single city. (whose name we can decide later. lol.)
This city is enormous and could almost be as big as the entire state of New York of our world. This one city contains nearly a million people and crime is something that can be often found in the darker parts of the city. There are various groups in the city that can be found; some good, some bad. It is run by three different mayors, though sometimes their influence is left ignored, especially in the slums. With the introduction of this new magic shop, named after the creator, (again, we can decide that later. lol.) things are about to become a lot more hectic.

The Rules - Be at least semi-literate. I'd like it if you'd post at LEAST a paragraph, though two or more are definitely recommended. So at least 4 sentences minimum please? - Use good grammar & be creative with your posts. (I'm pretty lenient with this one, don't worry too much. ^^ ) - Please follow the standard Gaia TOS. - Keep everything PG-13. - No godmodding or power-playing! - Try to keep the font size anywhere from 9 - 11 all right? - Don't use blinding colors that are impossible to read without highlighting. sweatdrop - I don't mind a little cursing in your post if that's how your character acts, but please, PLEASE don't be excessive in your cursing. This means don't be dropping f bombs about every other word. razz - No insta-love. Kind of self-explanatory. sweatdrop - PM all profiles to me with the subject "Magical Trinkets". - I am allowing you to have a MAXIMUM of 2 characters. No more than that.Basically just follow the ToS & these rules and you'll be good to go. ^^ I might add more later as I think of them. razz

{ Jamas Kyosa }
Jamas was currently standing outside the 14 floor building amidst the enormous crowd of people. Knowing his luck, everything would be sold out before he even got to browse their selection. The young, teenager boy was feeling really nervous and just wanted to get inside as fast as he could so he could look for anything that might suit him. Standing there in the middle of this crowd was really unpleasant as he was being shoved and bumped into constantly. Then, what looked like the owner of the building, stepped out and tapped his neck.
"May I have your attention please?!" It was the usual 'get their attention' line that Jamas was used to hearing from people like that. When the owner announced that the store was now open and people could enter the building, everyone rushed past the poor guy and entered the building before he could finish his speech. Jamas had been trampled by the crowd and, after they had all passed, he lay there on the street wincing in pain.
Pushing himself to his feet, Jamas looked at the owner with a small smile and brushed himself off. "I'm sorry, I must be quite a mess." The young boy walked up to the manager and laughed a bit. "I'm bleeding huh?" When the manager simply nodded, Jamas shrugged his shoulders and bowed to the man for a moment before entering the enormous store. What he saw amazed him.
There were so many magical items in the store and so many weird orbs and other trinkets that could be used to implant a magical spell within oneself. Looking around, he could see that so many spells had already been taken. Jamas guessed that most people just grabbed what they could and ran off to the cash register with it. He heard the employees explaining to people that they were limited to one spell per person until they could get more in stock. Jamas snickered a bit as he continued to explore.
After some time had passed, most people were already gone and Jamas was one of the few customers on the 14th floor of the building. The boy felt like he could cry when he searched and searched and found nothing that really called out to him. Then he suddenly felt as if a certain spell was reaching out to him. Approaching one of the odd spheres, Jamas picked it up and stared into it, tilting his head somewhat as he did. Looking at the tag attached to it, Jamas smiled. "Wind Cutter. Sounds neat."
Moving over to the employee on this floor, Jamas handed the spell over to her and payed her the proper amount before leaving the building with a wide grin on his face. Then, staring at the spell he now held in his hands, he began to panic. "Dang it! I forgot to ask what I'm supposed to do!" The young boy clutched it to his chest and was about to re-enter the store when he suddenly felt something strange happening.
Looking down at the spell, he could see it being absorbed into himself and he started to freak out. "What the hell is happening?! What do I do, what do I do?!" Before he could do anything however, the spell had been fully absorbed into his own body and he shivered at the strange new feeling rushing through him. Raising his hands to his head quickly, Jamas was surprised to see a small blade of wind rushing through the air before him, cutting straight through a building across the street. Jamas's eyes went wide. "Oh crap!"

 Sabrina looked at the pink ball in her hand that was the spell she had purchased from the store. Her face was not lit up like many that had left, but instead her expression was soured, obviously unhappy with her choice. After all, the colour didn’t make it any more exciting, just made it look even more girlie and feeble than just its description. The girl grumbled. She might as well go in for a refund. At least her money would be better than this crummy power.
She made her way over to the kerb, sitting down upon it, as a boy sliced through a building with a blade of wind, she supposed. His power was far cooler than hers was. Why couldn’t she have got that?
She played video games, been absorbed in special abilities, and yet when it came down to her getting magic of her own, she only got boost magic. After all, what good was that for? Anybody knew that characters with skills like that are usually out of your party quicker than you can get a replacement for him or her!
The girl pulled her legs up to her chest, resting the pink orb upon her knees. As she stared into it, hoping that somehow it would manifest into something better, it began to glow, before floating a few centimetres above where she had perched it and flying into her chest, absorbing itself into her body. Sabrina blinked her brown eyes in shock, before looking down at herself, to see where it had gone. She felt something stirring inside of her, but instead of giving her a feeling of exhilaration, it instead made her all the more moody. It looked like she would have no chance of a refund now.

 Ashley Clare Ashley held her sketch book in her arms. School was over and she needed a break. She sighed and walked down the sidewalk. She saw a crowd up ahead at the new magic store. "Huh?" The crowd rushed into the store. Curious, she decided to check it out. "I'm not sure about this...but it won't hurt to check right?"
The mechanical doors slid open. Everyone inside rushed to buy spells. "Man there's a ton of people." She politely moved her way through the crowd and walked up to a sales counter. An item caught her eye. It was a small glass figure of a crow with a small burning flame inside. She picked it up and looked at it. It was warm from the burning flame. "Wow! This little crow figure is cute!" She looked at the man behind the counter. "How much? I would love to draw this!" The man gave her the price of the small figure. "That's a lot." She frowned and placed the figure back on the counter. 'I'm not sure I have enough.' She thought.
She reached into her school bag and pulled out her wallet. She opened it and counted the dollar bills. She just barely had enough for the figure. She smiled and looked back up to the store clerk. "I'll take it!" She paid the man and put her wallet back into her school bag along with her sketch book. She picked up the crow figure and fought against the crowd to leave the store.
She walked out and watched as a boy used some type of wind magic to cut a building. She was shocked at the magic. Just what did she buy? She saw a girl sitting on the curb. She wondered if she bought a spell or what ever it was. Ashley was new to this magic stuff. The crow figure she was carrying started to glow. She looked down at it and watched as it vanished into her hands. "Whaaaaa! What happened!?! I was going to draw that!"

{ Jamas Kyosa }
Upon hearing someone shouting behind him, Jamas quickly spun around, already prepared to apologize for damaging the building with his Wind Cutter spell. When he saw a couple of girls, not too much older than himself he guessed, he breathed a sigh of relief and walked over to them. "Hello there. Did you two get spells too? What kinds did you two get?" Jamas had a big grin on his face. He was genuinely excited to see what kinds of magic they could cast.(( Short post. I'm sorry. v.v ))

Sabrina looked towards the girl who walked along with what looked to be a spell shaped like a crow. Even the physical image of her spell had looked better than hers had. She gave a small sigh as the crow absorbed itself into her body. It looked like everyone had had all the luck.
The girl then looked up as the boy who had just cut a large chunk out of the adjacent building turned to and addressed both her and the girl with the crow spell. As he asked them what spells they got, she gave a small frown. She did not really want to say what she had got. What if they laughed at her? After all, he looked quite happy with his spell, and to learn how bad hers was may send him into hysterics.
“What does it matter?” she replied, standing up slowly, “it’s only a spell. I mean, it’s got to have some sort of flaw to it. I mean, in video games, you lose MP, so what will it do to us in the real world?”

 Soulbound means nothing . . .
☽☾ Brycen King ☽☾
Bryce stood, staring at a tiny little bolt of lightning. "Fire Weaving?" What could that mean? He asked himself, running a hand through his hair. This little trinket had caught his attention, and he knew he'd be restless tonight if he didn't buy it, so he did. Barely. Walking out with it, he eyed a few of the other people outside: a guy and two girls, the guy looking nice enough, but the girl looking bored or distressed. He watched them for one more second before sitting against the brick building, taking out the little bolt and turning it over in his hand, over and over again, wondering what it did.
. . . except that you own my soul.

 Ashley Clare Ashley curled a few strand of black hair around her right index finger. She had a puzzled look on her face. "I um...I'm not really sure. I'm not sure what my spell does. All I know is that it was a glass figure of a crow with a tiny flame in it." She shrugged her shoulders. She heard Sabrina talk. "I'm sure you have a great spell!" She smiled. "Now that you mentioned it...what would be the side effect to using a spell? I think we would get tired or something like that."
"I'm Ashley." She smiled. "I go to the high school not to far from here." She reached her hand out to shake Jamas's hand, but stopped mid way when she felt her palm warm. A flame appeared in her hand and she watched it. "What's going on?" A fire crow bursts from the flame and stood in her palm with its wings out. "Eh....." She stared at it. The flame didn't hurt. It was going against all physics. She freaked out, flailing her arm and the fire crow flew up into the air above them.
