So I'm thinking of buying a double bass as soon as I can. (Probably gonna take a year or two to get the money as I am to young to get a job) I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is safe to buy online or should I find a store near me?

Hard to say, but get one from a store near you for these reasons. 1. You can pick one you like and whatever. 2. You'll get one that you want without the danger of getting a wrong one or that the bass is "on hold" and you'll get it sometime between next week and the next ten years. Even if those chanses are close to none, they still exist. 3. You get it right away like in your hands and can leave the store with it. Althou' some stores might order one for you and you can pick it up later... it could be different from store to store BUT anyay.
But I also know my brother bought his from the internet, and it went well for him... so really I'd say both choices are good. If you chose to but the bass from a safe online store, or a store you know is good by checking with pricerunner or similar price compare sites.
