A tutta la gente che parla l'italiano, dov'è possibile parlarla? Ho cercato a lungo per l'internet ma non ho trovato nessun posto in qual posso parlare con altre persone che lo parlano. Ma, se qualcuno vuole, forse possiamo creare un topic qui...?
(Mi dispiace se ho sbagliato...l'ho studiato fa solo sei settimane :/)

Ci sono tanti forum in italiano in giro per internet. Se mi dici quali sono i tuoi interessi, posso cercarne qualcuno per te!
Altrimenti puoi sempre cercare qualche italiano su Skype, o fare uno scambio linguistico su siti come Shared Talk ecc.
(Non ti preoccupare per gli errori, qui è importante comunicare e basta, no? biggrin Though if what I write seems difficult in any way, just tell me and I'll reword it or add a little translation.)

I speak italian with my family. smile Though, I cannot speak it that well. I only understand it. Hahaha.
A lot of italian restaurants have italian speakers there atleast, enough to get around...it really depends on where you live. I live by a large population of italians...but most teenagers or some adults (3rd generation italians) in america don't really speak italian anymore; only bits, so you'll have to find an older adult or something. smile Try a nursing home; people there love to see youths there, and if they speak italian, that'd be a bonus for you. :3
(I personally don't like practicing languages via internet... sad I prefer the whole immersion concept~ :O )

Non so veramente che tipo cerco, solo che cerco uno che è attivo. Volevo usare Skype, ma aspetto solo fino a quando arriva il mio nuovo laptop (come si dice in italiano?) che ha un microfono.
E' vero haha. Adesso posso comprendere tutto quello che scrivi, e quello mi basta perché è più importante comprendere che parlare razz

I too prefer immersion, but I also kinda wanna meet people from other places too (another big reason for loving languages). Although, yeah, sometimes I do have like 4-hour listen-to-Foreign-Language-Radio-while-doing-homework sessions and I immerse myself a lot. xD

Do you have "Little Italy" anywhere in florida? There's a ton of them scatter throughout....
But yeah, I think the italian population is in like...New York. And I know there's a lot in New Hamshire, and Chicago. I live in Ohio, and I know of a lot of italians...but not many people here speak the language...hmmm...seems like it's time for stoy time because of my heritage. smile
When my nonna (Grandma) came into america, alls she would do in school was color with crayons all day because she didn't know english, and the nunn wouldn't teacher her it...
There's worse cases, where the child would be made fun of their knowing of italian. (Especially because my Nonna came to italy right before WWII, and there was a lot of being made of her, because she was italian.)
SO, these children grew up into adults, and decided they didn't want their children to know italian anymore, because if they learned it, that same being-made-fun-of would happen...atleast that's a lot of the typical cases families have told me before.
So, a good chunk of italian americans didn't get to learn italian.
sad However, therer are of coarse, obvious exceptions...that was in the past...but look now; if you know a foreign language it's actually a benefit...hahaha... (my family kept bits and pieces of italian...so liike, my mom speaks a little italian, which is awesome!)
But pretty much, all the older people in my family speak italian, and my parents and my siblings all understand italian, because it's spoken so much, and we see our family often...but we simply just reply in english...which I'm trying not to. I'm trying to learn the language, 'ya know?(When there is speaking in italian in my family, it's usually between the older people only...but we can still eavsedrop and what not. wink )
But the main point is, it's going to pretty hard to find someone speak italian that's native to it. sad That's why it may be easier if you go to a nursing home...but I think it's awesome you're learning italian. wink

Ahh that makes sense. Yeah, we were in AP Euro talking about propaganda one day, and our teacher showed a poster with a Japanese guy, an Italian guy, and a German guy speaking, and it said at the bottom, "Don't speak the enemy's language"...I was like...wtf, I hate this poster lol.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I hate how here in the US people stress the assimilation thing to such an extent that you can't know like five words of a foreign language without being called un-American or something (but, on another note, I don't see why being called un-American is an insult lol)

Yeah, immersion would be the ideal, but it's not always possible. We're lucky that now we have the internet to help, really. This year I'm trying to give review/language lessons to other students online, and while I find it more difficult than in person, sometimes it's the only choice because not everybody can be in the right environment to learn. sad
And your experience with Italian spoken in family reminded me a lot my own experience with Sardinian, which is a minority language where I live. Sardinian speakers are perceived as less refined, ignorant and of a lower social status, so my family refused to teach it to me and my siblings. We grew up knowing only Italian, but used to catch some words and phrases when our grandparents spoke with our parents or other older relatives.
Middle school did the trick for me, because most of the other kids there knew and spoke Sardinian on a regular basis and I wanted to fit in, but if it were for my parents I would have never learned it.

Ad esempio, per i videogiochi c'è Forumeye o Multiplayer, per gli anime c'è Animeclick e tanti altri, per i libri c'è Forumlibri, per i viaggi c'è Turisti per caso...
Laptop si dice "(computer) portatile", ma si usano anche le parole inglesi laptop e notebook.

Beh puoi usare Yahoo Answers in italiano, ad esempio, tanto ormai tutti lo usano come una specie di chat. xd
Allora il tuo portatile arriverà presto! Con Skype è più facile fare esercizio di sicuro.
In questo periodo sto lavorando molto e studiando per laurearmi, quindi sono un po' impegnata. Però cerco di passare qui quando ho un momento libero! biggrin

Ah, sì, ci sono entrata una volta. Mi vergogno un po' a parlare in inglese quindi non credo entrerò a fare conversazione audio, però non si sa mai. smile

"Pura" in italiano è il femminile singolare di "puro", che vuol dire pulito, incontaminato. Per esempio l'acqua può essere pura, quando è pulita e viene dalla montagna. Oppure l'oro può essere puro, quando non è mischiato con altri metalli. Una persona può essere pura, quando è innocente.
(I tried to give you an explanation in Italian, but "puro/a" means "pure, clean, pristine, absolute" in English. Unless you were referring to "pure" in Italian, which can mean "too, also" in English. xd )

Però studi l'inglese fa molto tempo quindi non potrebbe essere così male. Se ti aiuta, forse parlerei in italiano xD. Non devi vergognarti con noi, siamo tutti studenti delle lingue, dunque sappiamo che parlare in altre lingue non è una cosa facilissimo.
Ah mi dispiace, qui vicino si chiama tutto (scuola, liceo, università) scuola. Ma, fino a quando dura le tue studi all'università?
Haha, sì volevo dire "pure" xD. Ti chiedo perché la settimana scorsa ho letto una storia in quale dice una persona ad un dottore, "mi dica pure" e volevo sapere il significato di "pure". Grazie =)

Hai ragione, però mi sento in imbarazzo se sono tutti madrelingua e io sono l'unica straniera. E poi ho un accento orribile. sad Però è vero, devo superare questa cosa altrimenti non migliorerò mai.
Scusami tu, non lo sapevo. Qui scuola è solo dalle elementari alla fine delle superiori (in genere dai 6 ai 18 anni). Prima c'è l'asilo, e dopo ci può essere l'università, o altri corsi speciali.
Dovrei finire il mese prossimo. biggrin
"Pure" letteralmente vuol dire "anche", però ha molti usi diversi. In questo caso è un rafforzativo, come se aggiungessi "please, go ahead" in inglese. Credo che nella storia la persona abbia "dato il permesso" al dottore di parlare.
Ti faccio un altro esempio:
Se tu mi inviti a casa tua, io mi fermo davanti alla porta e chiedo "posso entrare?"; tu allora mi puoi rispondere "prego, entra pure!".

Non sei l'unica straniera. Ci sono tante persone in questo guild che parlano l'inglese come seconda lingua. Tu anche hai ragione, dovrei parlare più in italiano...
Ah mi dispiace. Volevo dire che di qua usamo le parole differenti anche noi, ma a volte diciamo 'scuola' per significare tutto, dalle elementari alla fine d'università. Beato te che sei quasi finita!

Non può parlare l'italiano come voglio, non ho tempo. A causa di questo, ho imparato un po di gramatica e uso parole spagnole se non so una parola che volio decire.
Ma, io sto imparando e mi piace la che avete decire.

(Ha, I feel ridiculous trying to type/speak in Italian, if you couldn't tell. I'm pretty sure I can't spell anything, and what I can spell doesn't cover much vocab, so I substitute Spanish words. stressed )
