Since I live in the ever changing U.S.A, there is one topic I would love to touch on: Christain Rights.

As I see it, being only a young, naive fourteen year old, our "freedom" is being crushed every day. Luckily, also unfortunately, our country is going through a financial crisis as of now, so not many stories about Christains and their problems lately. A year or so ago, I was watching the news channel (a surprising thing for me to do, but it was right before school, so there was a reason...ish) and one story in particular popped up.

This one was about a stain glass window with a Psalm written on it. The boss hated it and wanted to rid his apartment / bussiness of it. A couple employees were fired for defending it.

It provokes some thought about our rights as Christians during these tough times.

Any thoughts?

Not to be a jerk but that guy should just be able to suck it up. In the U.S. the First amendment to the U.S. Constitution states that you have the right to freedom of religion. Which means he nor I can start complaining about others showing their religious beliefs. I have a Jewish friend who doesn't care that I wear my Jesus fish dog tags. yes I have Jesus Fish dog tags.

Quote:
Luke 21:17 And you will be hated by all because of My name.

1 John 3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

John 15:19-21 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.... If they persecuted Me they will persecute you... for they do not know the One who sent Me.

Guess we have to get used to this.
These things happen to us Christians because we are the ones representing Christ in the world. We will get persecuted by the world since we are not of the world anymore.

Okay, what do you mean by 'rights' exactly? It's not like we have a bill of rights or we have the right to not be hated or something.

Yes, the people do not like us. But it's not like Christians in the U.S.A. are getting hunt down and murdered by the government. We have the right to our religion, but the other people have the right to speak against us to. I used U.S.A. because you and i both live there.

Anyway, we must be for Christ no matter what others do or say.

I once heard this vet talk about being in Vietnam. He had had a buddy there who was a Christian named Kiowa. Kiowa always carried an illustrated New Testament with him and the vet said that you could tell Kiowa was different than others. You could tell he was a Christian. And it was good, he said, the way Kiowa was, so when he drowned in a mud field with mortar rounds, the first thing they found was a muddy, green rucksack with an illustrated New Testament in it.

And it should be the same with us. The first thing they'll find is our God and our faith and then they'll find us.

we are in the world not of it. in gods eyes the sky is not the limit for us. if it was there would not be footprints on the moon. they may speak against us but in return we will pray for them. we are here in this world not to be mad at people who don't agree with us but to help them find there way with god.

It realy sucks and the Peter part of me wants to strike down everyone who opposes Christianity. But then again, those violent thoughts are why so many people speak out against us. The media covers only fundamentalist Christian groups. They present ALL Christians the way everyone wants to think Christians should be.

Our rights as Christians will - one day - be threatened in an outright way. The terror ocd I have keeps telling my mind that it'll be a terrible and bloody war, and that we'll have to suck it up and start killing. But then the rational part of my mind knows what to be looking out for. There are scriptures all throughout the New Testament telling us what we will be going through in the end times.

We as Christians need to press further into God and His Word. He alone will give us comfort. He alone will protect us. And I know this is slightly hypocritical of me to say, but we ABSOLUTELY HAVE to put our trust in Him.

Um, back to what I going to say, now...
Read Revelation is you want to know what's going to go down.

Guys, the world isn't ending yet. I don't there's going to be a bloody christian war anytime soon. I think you've been reading Revalations at night too much.

And will someone please clarify what our 'rights' are exactly?!

She never said was ending now. She just said one day. And we don't know when that day will come. I bolded that text because it just supports my point; we can only assume, or speculate. No one will ever know except God the Father.

Personally, we don't have any political rights, none that will be seen or recognized by non-believers. Our first and foremost right is to spread the Gospel through our words and actions.

That's a right?

I'd call that more of a duty. And yeah, if they don't want to listen then they'd be 'taking away' our 'right'.

I'd agree with that. We have the right to religion from the First Amendment, but we also have the right to shun or shut up other people of other religions.

It's not taking away our right if others don't give enough of a care. It's simply a matter of "I don't care, and I have the right not to".

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;
or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

This right. The right that says that you can't get a referral if you pray in public school. Buuuuuut--you still get threatened with a referral anyway. It's happened to me.

It is the right to be able to practice your religion without everyone else, primarily the government, telling you that you can't. Telling you to remove things because they're "offended". You have the right to practice your beliefs, and so do they.

P.S. You can never read any book of the Bible too much.

Sure. I agree with you. Next, year, I'm going to a really anti-Christian school. And I think I might just pray in the cafeteria (not outloud, but hands folded) just to dare them to tell me no. Cause, yes, i do things like that.

You should. And if you are persistent, you might even get it to the Supreme Court, in which case you can use your first right to defend yourself.
