I wish I had the full version of Photoshop... I only have Elements 2.0 XD Hehe. Maybe I'll go make a tutorial... ^_~ It should be mostly the same, right? Eh... I can't do screenshots. XD
Rawr. What does everybody use to colour? I'm stuck with a laptop mouse, sadly...

Rawr. What does everybody use to colour? I'm stuck with a laptop mouse, sadly... It's fine if you don't have screen shots just make sure it's easy to understand without them. And even if it's not the same, people who have the same version of photoshop can get help from your tutorial. I use a mouse but I'm hoping to get a tablet soon ^^

I have a tablet, which I use to ink my drawings sometimes, but it's really crappy so I can't use it very much.

You should have some basic Photoshop knowledge to do this...
Ok, so you want to know how to do some soft shading colouring? Well, here's a good way! I use Elements Version 2.0, but I'm sure this can apply to other stuff. Well, I actually learned this technique from reading an art book, then developed it some more. Ok, so to start, grab any lineart. I'm going to use one from a contest (which I can't remember the artist's name, but I did NOT draw it). Ok, so here it is.
 Open it in Photoshop and make a new layer. (CTRL+Shift+N) You don't need to name it, so keep it as Layer 1. Set the mode to multiply and take the paint bucket and fill it in with the base colour.
 Click the Magic wand and go back to the layer with the lineart on it. Select the area outside the lineart then go back to the multiply layer and hit delete. NOTE: This may not always work, so try adjusting the tolerence. If that doesn't work, you might have to erase the outside.
 Next you can fill in all the details, like all the other colours. If you're doing a person, colour the clothes, eyes, hair, ect. For what I'm doing, I will do any basic designs on the fur and the eyes.
 Now, we are going to work on the shading... leave the eyes blank, because we're going to do some stuff for that later. Grab the burn tool and set the ocapacy to 20%. If it seems too dark, make the ocapacy less. Brush the area where the shading will be [bigger brushes look better]. I had to lessen the ocapacy to do this one, it depends on how dark the colour you chose is. If you chose a light colour, you may need to increase it. NOTE: If something doesn't look right, use the Smudge tool to fix it
 Time for the highlights. Select the Dodge tool and set the ocapacy to 10%. Once again, brush the areas where you need to, but don't overdo it. Once again, you may need to change the ocapacy. As you can see, I edited the shading too. You might do this, too.
 Ok, eyes. Right? Yeah. I would zoom in to 200%-300%. Get the burn tool in a small size, and shade the area opposite the highlights
 Now, we do the pupil [unless it is a black pre-set]. Grab the burn tool again, and make the ocapacy 50%. Make sure the pupil is pretty dark.
 And guess what? You're DONE! <3
 This isn't my best work, but I like it ^_^
Tezi Ruele Hee, went a little crazy with the Dodge Tool when I realized what it did, but yeah! So far so good. heart heart Haha, that's normal, you just gotta play with the burn tool on a very low ocapacy to fix highlights that are too strong. XD [i should add this to that tutorial]
EDIT You may notice, I did some fur stuff, should I do a fur tutorial? XD;;

@ Tezi, I love the tutorial, it helped me out a ton and I use PSP. I would maybe add a bit about the smudge tool, other then that it's great. And just to let you know, in the last picture of your tutorial it still has no pupils>.<
