For me, it's grandparents. And I just don't talk about it.

I'm still 14, so unlike you older non-minors, i have the most trouble with people who would be considered my "athoritative figures," like my aunt, my grandma, my parents, ect. I don't have problems with my teacher much, but there are times when i feel like the classroom is a church.
I have also been told that i will burn in hell by one of my friends. I asked them that if hell exsisted, where would it be? They thought about it and got rather mad at me for questioning them and making them think twice about being christian.

I dont think they got mad at you for questioning them. i think they god mad that they did not know enough about their own religion, to have a smart assed answer for you. Here is something for you to use next time. It has stopped alot of arguments from even starting when someone tells you that your going to burn in hell. Say this......"If there is a god, and god was able to create all these things, like the universe, with every cell that we can hardly see, then he or she is odviously very smart, and very observant. So if god could do all these things, then I think he would be very understanding as to why I would not believe in him, and he would understand it even better then I do, and I doubt he would judge me for that." It usually stops alot at the beginning. If that does not work, then you can always ask what makes them think they know anything about what god is thinking or how he will judge.

My dad's parents know that my mom and i are atheist and they send us stupid random churchy stuff in the mail and it's irritating but that's about it. All my relatives know about my point of view on church and religion. I'm really vocal about telling people I'm atheist.

I tell them NOTHING. It's taken two years to get them this off my back about not going to church. Dad still gets with the leaders of my ward from time to time, i think, to see if I'm active.

Dad's been a convert since his late teens. The church is important to him, and is probably a good part of his non-professional social network. Mom simply refuses to look at anything that doesn't set into her prescribed view of how the world works.

My sister, who is my best friend, and my fiance are both also atheists so I have them to take comfort in. My parents both know but they sort of seem to be ignoring it. My mom doesn't force me to go to church anymore but every now and then she tells me about how our priest would love to marry us and have the wedding in the church and all this other crap. I can't wait for the family shitstorm that's going to happen when I tell everyone that we're not getting married in a church or by any type of religious officiant.

I've been pretty lucky, I suppose. My mom has shown some brief instances of resistance, but she's been pretty cool about it overall. She still thinks I'm wrong, of course, but hey--we're both adults, and we're allowed to have our own separate opinions. Her conception of god is actually pretty squishy, so she doesn't believe I'm going to hell because I don't believe in him. Or she thinks that because I was baptized and went through confirmation, I'm saved anyway. Or that I'll find my own way eventually. Or whatever. Like I said, squishy.

My brother is a fellow atheist... or close enough to it. He's an agnostic with a sneaking suspicion that God exists, and he's evil.

As for my extended family... I came out to them by wearing an Out Campaign shirt and simply answering their questions of "What's that A stand for?"

I was certainly a curiosity that Thanksgiving, but I think all in all, they have more important things to worry about than what my religion is. The only really rough patches were when my Grandpa found out. He was pretty shocked, and kinda went into a feedback loop where kept repeating the same things over and over again. It was actually kinda scary. 0_0 But I think he's gotten over it.

My biggest problem was with my aunt. She started sending me all this religious stuff. I decided to counter by sending her atheist literature, starting with The God Delusion. Basically I attempted to show her--yes, you have your views, and your reasons for them, but I have mine, and here are the reasons for them. We started corresponding by email for a while, but things quickly turned nasty, with her telling me that I've had it "too easy," and other such things, so I told her that I thought it would be best if we stopped talking about it, and stopped sending things to each other. So we did. We seem to be getting along fine, now.
