So. not many people read these days, whatever, but for those of you who do, let's talk books. Which do you think are good? Which do you think are bad? Why?
A few books I really like are Catcher in the Rye, The Great Gatsby, and The Things They Carried.

no one else likes books?
i read the Hobbit it was okay never really got into it.took like a year to read it because of that.
then i got Eragon read it in less than a week. Eldest in less than 2 weeks. Brisingr i think it lasted a month. of course i am a slow reader but i liked them. good fantasy novels. in the second and third book the perspective changes every other chapter. (such as Eragon does chapter 1&2, then his cousin does chapter 3,etc.)

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Seven book set, I've read them at least 20 times and they never get old. Gunslingers ftw.

Let's see... now, keep in mind these are books I've had since I was young and still have in my library.

Gaurdians of Ga'Hoole. Talking owls starting wars.
The Warriors. Talking clans of wildcats. Gotta love the sentient animals.
The Montmorency series by Eleanor Updale. A genius theif riddled by scars, balancing the personas of a grubby, corrupt man-servant Scarper and a wealthy, sophisticated gentleman named Montmorency, but a theif in both skins? We're talking intrigue.
My Side of the Mountain series by Jean Craighead George. That series turned me into a hippy at heart when I was 7. I swore I was gonna buy an old volkswagon when I graduated highschool, rip out the seats, put shag in the back and just bum around the U.S.
Inheritance Series. Dragons. 'Nuff said.
Anita Blake. ******** twilight. Vampires are are always dangerous and they aren't scared of themselves. Werewolves will eat you out and then eat you. No fluffy puppies. No sparkles. No volvos. I'm not a vampire series reader, but this is one that rivals Anne Rice.
I occaisionaly dip my toes into Stephen King, Anne Rice.
I like a novel called Gods of Aberdeen by Micah Nathan, and I always loved dinosaurs, so of course I've got a beat up copy of Jurassic Park. The book is worth reading, different from the movie in many ways. And as far as poetry goes, Poe and Henry David Thoreau are my muses.
But Shakespeare, I won't read unless made. I understand, I understand, they're "literary classics" but I don't have the patience to read it all the time.
