I thought that was a hallucination which is how they set up for the second game which starts out with him, being in a hospital... even the reveal trailer shows this... Dead space 2 reveal trailer

Just pick if you want to start out on the Ishimura or the colony and you can pick which job you want... unless you want an officer or security... then i have to approve it first.
