Okay, I'm working as an illustrator for a friend of mine. I'm drawing some of her stories for children, but we're not published yet. I'd like to start my own line of Pagan inspired children's books. Stories that impart Pagan beliefs but leave it open to many earth-based religions. Nothing too specific. I'd like to add symbolism and morals that reflect the Rede. However, I'm not sure how to go about it. I know this is my calling, but I'm not sure where to start.
How can I interpret my beliefs softly, and be able to teach children to treasure the Earth without offending parents? I'm not worried about Christian flamers or anything, just don't want to offend other Pagans by saying something like "this God/Goddess is the best," or "you must not kill," and have someone come after me saying "we have to kill to eat," and so on.
I realize there will always be misinterpretations of my books and people who disagree or just plain hate it. I'd still like to soften the messages so that the books are enjoyable stories and not too much like a Pagan 101. I want to write storybooks with Pagan morals and messages, not information books.
I would treasure any advice or ideas you have concerning this subject. I will also share my Pagan illustrations here once I get to work. 3nodding

Ok, now that I've cracked a joke or two. I do have something serious to say. Put something in there about the earth mother or something.

There are a lot of Wiccan/Witch friendly books out there, if you look. I would suggest you start by looking at those and then seeing what you want to say differently. Check out Little Witch, The Wild Child, the Strega Nona books and the Little Fur series, those were some of my daughter's favorites. I can't wait to see your illustrations and to someday read your books

OK I just looked at your art work on deviant art and I need to say GET YOUR TUSHIE BUSY!!! Its wonderful. If you write as well as you illustrate, the world needs your stuff in it.
By the way in your DA collection there is a piece by Puimun, I just got the Shadowscapes Tarot deck by her, and its the most beautiful deck I have seen in a long time. Have you ever thought about doing a tarot deck? I would definitely be very interested, and a lot of people I know would be as well.
Get Busy!!!

xd Ha ha the Vikings were awesome, it would be fun to do something silly with them. The Earth Mother will definitely be in a book. If not a common theme in all my books. I was considering showing her in many Goddess forms, but with only one name. Then people may interpret her to be whomever they chose. ^_^
Thank you for the compliments.
Love to Paint- Thank you so much. You really brightened my day. 4laugh

what if you did something with working with the four elements and educate children on them ^ ^ teach them how to connect with them biggrin Ps i loved reading strega nova when i was young hahah
Pssconcerning the 4 elements: i had been really angry lately, and i didnt know why, then i relized it was because i hadnt connected with nature or the elements for a long time >< so i went to the beach today. you can find most the elements thereand i meditated with them and i feel so much better now ^ ^ *sigh*
