Since I always hear the argument "Atheists don't believe in anything" let's compile a list of things we DO believe in.
I believe that the Universe conforms to knowable laws (So I'm a Gnostic) and that Science has the capacity to understand anything eventually.
I believe that we are not alone in the Universe, but that no Aliens have found us yet.
I believe that life is worth living as long as you get enjoyment out of it.

I believe in my soul, and that I agree that humans can't and maybe never will be able to explain everything that happens to us...
I think life is, maybe not sacred, but should be protected... That's it special, I guess...
I believe in soul-mates and true love...
And in good and evil, but in a greyscale kinda way, that there's good/evil in everyoe, or the ability to do either... I think some acts are acts of "evil", like genocide... But also that descrimiation in any form is evil rearing its ugly head...

With a menacing howl and a snapping jaw
it's actually rather difficult for me to compile all of the thoughts rolling around in my head into something legible stressed but i can try. i believe in evolution and natural selection. you could almost call me a Darwinist in this sense. i believe that when we die it is nothing more than a ceasing of brain function and we do not go anywhere else in any form afterward. i don't believe in anything supernatural. (i.e. miracles, deities) i believe in the theory that the appearance of life on a planet is a billion in a billion chance but that there could possibly be (or have been or will be) other planets with life on them. after all, it happened on earth, didn't it?
that about wraps it up, i suppose.
we will concentrate on ruining your face.

I believe that the meaning of life is a rhetorical question that religions are based off of.
Impatience comes for the necessity to know.
Curiosity killed the cat.

[Ren The Ryoko] I believe that we are not alone in the Universe, but that no Aliens have found us yet. I believe that they have found us and they helped us evolve and stuff. Anyway, I like to believe a Giant Mufuggin' Robot created the earth. It's a more sarcastic thing when people ask me what I believe in. It's also part of a story I made up.

No one can classify what Atheist believe in, to remind you all, Atheism is not a religion. It is a classification of who we are, that we do not believe in a god, that we know evolution. Other than that, you can make your own little tweaks and still be an atheist but if you believe any much more than that, you probably shouldn't consider yourself an atheist, It's not what we DO believe in, because believing means something is not true, while knowing is much different. Atheism = Science, Science = True.

1. I think this is one of those stupid thread just to vent frustrations and make stupid little jokes
2. atheist don't necessarily belive in evolution... most atheist do but a lack of belief in god does not equate a belief of evolution.
3. believing doesn't necessarily equate to not true. for instance I believe that I am sitting in a chair and typing on a lap top. I have a fair bit of evidence for this, but it's still a belief. when we say we know something we mean that we have a fair amount of evidence from whatever it is we believe and can there for use it as evidence for other things we believe.

Obviously there can't really be an all encompassing list, as it seems that ones spirituality is particularly unique for the atheist (I'm guessing, I'm new to this line of thought). In a related vein... wouldn't creating a "standard" set of ideas start to border on religion? Or, at least a school of thought? ;3
Anyway... my personal beliefs:
1. All things fit into and can be explained by natural law, whatever that may mean.
2. Logic and reason can come to understand those laws. As we evolve in our understanding, our definition of those laws may change accordingly. We are not, after all, perfect.
3. Morality is simple communal decency. It varies dependent upon the society. My moral model is no more important or correct than that of anyone else.
Eh, enough for now. I have a test to go take in a bit, and I've been up all night. XD this is putting me to sleep a bit.

I am agnostic.
No one truly knows how the universe was created.
It could have been an accident or on purpose.
I mean some one could have gotten the ball rolling, but I do have my doubts and i think that some one creating all of this like the other faiths say is highly unlikely.
The reason being is that almost all of them have at least 1 or 2 things totally wrong! I mean it is genetically imposable for two people to repopulate the entire earth to the tune of what is it now around 6 billion?
What I am saying is that I am agnostic leaning atheist.
P.S I think that the religious fanatics are going to get every one killed one day... in the form of stupidity. reason being: there are manny people in my school who think that the earth is 4000 years old and that the sun revolves around the earth.
